    The hardest thing about Red Alert 1 is the Ai’s path finding, units running themselves into range of enemy defenses when they don’t need to or going to attack the enemy base and see his entire army stuck between a harvester and a refinery lol

      yeah the AI can also produce to many units and give them the guard area command in which they ll guard base area and lock up the whole base

    In my mind this map on PlayStation version was way larger than this. I don't remember IA building docks or sending units to repair. On scenarios like this used to destroy their mining trucks, then they can't keep building.

      You see it on the "Option Wheel" 1080p but not 1080p60

      @phantom57 yeah. That's just on the video. That depends on where he/she recorded it from, but the game itself is smooth 60 fps.

      @@phantom5797 Maybe the uploader doesn't have the device for recording 60 fps when saved that time. I'm pretty sure almost all videos right now are 1080p 60fps.

    eeekkk @ the PPI ? can u change the PPI of this game ? the sprites look far too big , even in 1997 the tanks etc looked smaller on my monitor

      Using spacebar you can flip it back to the old, more pixelated appearance.

    Move your cruisers to be Horizontally or Vertically in line with your target, Move the Cruiser 1 tile to rotate the Cruiser so it is pointed in a straight line to your target. ie ------> X
    You will then notice that they have devastating, pin point accuracy with no spread whatsoever.
    (I have not tried this in the remasters)

    well, if this is hard, then they must have trashed the game in this remastered version. I remember when playing this game back in the days, and when the computer suddenly started to lag - because half of the enemies base that covered half of the map was moving towards you with like 200+ units. What's being shown in this clip is more like easy mode or like the other later versions of C&C - just some few units attacking.

      It's probably because it's this specific map with limited resources and 9 teams. The AI literally can't expand any more than they did here because he took control of the center field right away and 9 teams means they only have 1 small island of resources.
      If it's a more open map with more resources and you give the AI time then yeah they're gonna come with 200 tanks lmao

    I thought this was the hardest thing ever in 1998. Now it just feels like target practice because the enemies attacks are consistent they don't build a navy or buy super weapons.. But there's a mod you can get that enhances the AI and they will do all that.

    I bought this game but it's far to easy even on hard?! How is this possible? I also play red alert from cncnet, hard over there is how I remembered it. I hope they wil fix this.

      @@Big0Tiger RA1 was best played changing the rules document so the AI and the game overall allows a much much higher amount of sprites on screen, can slow down a LOT though, but when a AI team has 100 jets coming at ya base its more fun

      I remember as a kid making a nuke for the first time, firing it at their construction yard expecting to destroy his entire base, and it didn't even destroy the construction yard lmao

    Revisiting the Red Alert 1 universe with better military knowledge, the Medium Tank cannot be the Abrams and the Heavy Tank cannot be the T-80. The weight classes were wrong. Based on the era, the most lore-fitting would be:
    M48 (or some modernized variant) as the Medium Tank - this would settle the part where the gun was either 90 mm or 105 mm as some modernized M48 variants used the 105 mm.
    T-55 (or some modernized variant) re-scaled for double barrels as the Soviet's basic tank. The concept of Heavy Tank would be deferred to another. The T--55 here fits! because there are T-55 modernized variants out there which look very much like the T-80 shown in RA1 cutscenes.
    When you have captured both sides' War Factories, the dilemma would be whether to build $800 or $950 tanks. They are both so close in cost and effectiveness that they both almost if not make each other obsolete and clutter up your build menu. The solution is to introduce the M60 to replace the $800 option and remove the $950 tank to be replaced with an expensive $2,500++ Abrams that will become the new Heavy Tank, which could even be double barreled as you have combined both sides' tech. The M60 here fits! because there are M60 modernized variants out there which look very much like the Abrams shown in RA1 cutscenes.
    Then the old Mammoth itself will be bumped up into a higher cost and power level.

      It's free for all. That means the AI players were not allied together. They also fought each other.

    Back in the day I would make only 1 or 2 AI hard and the rest medium or easy to watch the chaos unfold while I carried put ops against the hard bases.

      No, it can be confusing because the producers released different titles covering different time periods that weren't strictly sequels. The titles in order were:
      Command & Conquer (near future with Tiberium)
      Command & Conquer: Red Alert (present day, no tiberium and with Hitler removed from time before WW1)
      Command & Conquer: Tiberian sun (new game engine, Sequel to 1st C&C)
      Command & Conquer: Red Alert 2 (Sequel to Red Alert, with the new engine with more advancements)
      Command & Conquer: Generals (Totally different setting, another separate game engine!)
      Then I get hazy.. RA3 after this? Then Zero hour? Not sure.

    Its crazy they couldn’t stop the enemy vehicles from blocking each other so they get stuck and dont move even in the remastered version...
