@ModerateMartian The Green thing was an effigy of Rebecca Brooks Riding the dinosaur Rupert Murdoch. Each of the Bonfire societies makes an effigy often a public figure or situation put in to a satirical situation. Sometimes it is of local interest the bigger societies tend to have national interest effigies. The effigies are filled with fireworks and taken to the societies bonfire site and set alight during the fireworks display.
@ModerateMartian Lewes has 6 or 7 Bonfire societies which parade through the town on Nov 5th They all have different themes Native Americans are I think Commercial squares theme. (There is alot of rivalry between the societies so i hope i have got the right society!!!) The bit of film was of them starting their parade they start it with the remember remember 5th of Nov poem which has quite a few verses that you do not normally get to hear.
@slaxxxer Cheers! The vibe of Lewes is what really makes it.
@bigarmcrouch I lived in Lewes for about 9-10 years i can understand where you are coming from. Something just draws me back every year!

@DibbersPage I think it would take alot to shut Lewes down years of tradition an 60000 spectators. Bonfire night is so ingrained into Lewes Culture.
