I’ve had a similar experience with deteriorating weather. Afterwards I did the ( IRR) IMC Rating. After 3-5 hours of the course, I realised that would be enough to save my life in the event of flying into cloud. I finished the rating and found it really challenging and enjoyable.
I think you’re correct, it’s beneficial to do that sort of training, even if you have no intention of flying in those conditions. It’s on my personal development plan too 👍🏼

Thanks Cptn Ray! It was frightening how fast the visibility just disappeared. One minute we could see North no problem & the next I was worried we’d have to make an emergency landing in Longleat’s Lion enclosure!!! 😂 Thanks for watching 👍🏻
Darn good job you didn’t have to…. The lions would have gotten quite a shock… and worse… they may have thought you had brought a tasty snack for them....!! 🐶😱🤣
Another good one Geoffrey. Always a wise call to make when the weather drops. I didn’t think Eve looked her smiley interested self and very true about the copyright. I have filmed in museums with their background sounds only to find that generated a claim! 😏
Thanks Tim, it got a bit scary! Eve was disappointed that we needed to change our Sandown plans for the weather. In retrospect perhaps we should not have flown at all, but I was keen to take the opportunity to fly… with winter approaching we can never be sure when the next opportunity will be! Eve is profoundly supportive and tolerant of my flying hobby, so I’m always grateful to her 😊

I am not getting much time at the moment to fly with so much to do but it is always important at this time of the year to take the opportunity when you can as we are never sure what our weather is going to throw at us!
