    We slept in the Tesla from Quebec City to Nanaimo BC in 5 days 4 nights : that's nearly $1000 bucks saved by not staying in hotels. Took showers in Truck Stops. We also traveled from Quebec City to St John's Newfoundland on a 3-week trip but slept in the Model 3 about 40% of the time. The windows are covered with cut-out cardboard spray-painted black. Silver bubble wrap in the front and back. We kept it a lot cooler and needed little ventilation.

      We have been planning to do this (postponed from last summer). Do you have any advice about where it's okay to stop for the night (welcome/legal).

      @@carabaoboy I feel more secure at SuperChargers to spend the night, you can charge then pull out to sleep and then top off in the morning if needed ... Level 2 Chargers are also good and usually in safe areas, you can just leave them plugged in while you sleep ...

    Did over 10 nights in my M3. Then I bought the MY, so much better for camping....over 10 nights there too. Happy camping!

    5:51 when you buy a mattress that’s made for the model 3 camp mode they make sure it level, taking into account that the seats aren’t fully flat. You can get a pretty nice one for like $60, which I think is worth it even if you do this once in a while

  • @Harrythehun
    @Harrythehun 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

    6:15 You can remove the backseat and fold the backrests flat, YT instructions are available.

  • @vorg_

    I used to have a homeade "cot" with adjustable legs that I'd keep in my car for snowboarding car camping. Never needed to park perfectly flat; I just get a level out and adjust the bed. Helped a tone, but probably not happening without a real hatchback or wagon roofline.

  • @7th_zeta

    What if you take out the back seat (bottom part) then the surface would be totally flat?

  • @keco185

    The rear seat pad pops out really easily and then you can fold the seat back flat

    Be interesting to see how people do with camping in Aptera with their tent. I still think the Aptera would work fine with the hatch closed.

  • @mmaestas87
    @mmaestas87 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    When i do this i take out the bottom half of the back seat. There are clips on either side and unplug the heated seat cords. If you do this it is really flat. I also put a blanket between the metal and back cushions just to be safe.

    Thank you for this! It will help me out quite a bit when I'm doing my road trip in the Aptera. I am a complete newbie when it comes to car camping, so I've already begun thinking about stuff to take with me to improve the experience.

    • @ccibinel
      @ccibinel 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Given the need for gear I think ill be setting up the tent outside the vehicle. If the hvac is needed I wonder about using some corrugated hose and a small fan to draw air from the vehicle to an external tent using the driver side window with a shaped gasket.

    • @kevinscott8642
      @kevinscott8642 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@ccibinel i’m sure you have your reasons for wanting to do it that way, but from my point of view, car camping in the back of the Aptera seems like a more attractive option. Depending on conditions either using the Aptera optional tent, or just with the hatch closed if needed for weather and/or security/privacy.

    Seen some camping videos with the model y and it’s perfect but me being cheap and solo the model 3 is perfect for me since I’m just one person. I don’t travel much but will probably invest in official camping accessories and hopefully they get utilized even just one. That would be exciting

    When you fall asleep your body temp goes down for a few degrees, smart beds actually acount for that and adjust temp to be perfect for the time of the night. Tesla should make an update to lower the temp for few degrees after few hours and then raise it back up an hour before morning to gently wake you up. Seems like a simple thing that would make a big diference in quality of sleep.

      I'm 6'3" and have enough room to completely stretch out by moving the front seat as forward as it will go. The catch is finding something just the right height to put in the footwell to support your head and shoulders. My suitcase is a bit low, so I use an extra memory foam pillow. Of course, if you're not sharing the space you can go diagonal.

    Don’t rationalize the room of now that you have the 3. That you’re gonna be traveling in that thing so much, and that you’re gonna be doing a lot more night camping, sometimes saving money comes at the cost of better life experiences. It’s not like you guys haven’t shoved away a ton of cash based on the videos in that your wife keeps on top of you and saves money all the time. Not throwing shade. Just stating facts. Next opportunity. The larger model. Especially since you can write off a lot of the stuff now that you’re using it for your business.
