Maruti Suzuki Jimny sales have crashed in the first month of 2024, from 730 units in December 2023 to just 163 units last month. That is a drop of 78%.
The Jimny was launched in June 2023. Since then, Maruti has sold 16,369 units of the Jimny. For the first three months, the carmaker sold around 3300 units on average. However, Jimny's sales have been steadily declining since September last year. 2,651 cars were sold during the month of September, which dropped to 1,852 units in October and 1,020 units in November.
The Maruti Jimny goes up against the Mahindra Thar in the Indian market. On average, Mahindra has been selling around 5,473 units of the Thar every month, which is a decent number considering its niche positioning in the market. In January 2024, Mahindra sold 6,059 units of the Thar. That’s 5,896 units more than the Jimny.
Maruti Suzuki introduced the Jimny Thunder Edition in December. Prices were slashed by Rs 2 lakh in a bid to revive sales, which doesn’t seem to have worked given its dismal sales performance in January 2024. - ยานยนต์และพาหนะ

It's a fair 4x4 car to be honest... It has good following in abroad.... Even I have booked the car but my family pushed to take breeza... It's a compact car easy to maneuver in city and off-road... I never felt bad abt boxy design since it's signature is that only...I see below are the things reason for failure...
1. Many thought it as a family cum off roading car. It is definitely not a first car for a family.
2. Poor cost cutting interiors.
3. No diesel variant for such a car is disappointment.
4. Yeah overpriced but mind it is 4x4.
5. It is a car who make modifications, but in India people consider money perspective. Except few no one will be ready for modifications. They need all to be covered in the price we pay that is correct too..
6. Suzuki thought to be tactical they played smart to introduce 5 door prior to competitor.. But they have disappointed with poor thigh support in second row and cheap cost cutting interiors... Even no pressure sensors in the seat to detect the seat belt indication and defogger wiring kept open....

Maruti should have just launched the 3 door version of the Jimny (which has been manufactured in india and exported to other countries for several years now) instead of spending time and money on developing a 5 door version which no one asked for🤷... Offroad cars are supposed to have shorter wheelbase e.g. thar... I dont like how Suzuki is treating the international audience and indian audience differently...
Moreover shorter wheelbase and its compact dimensions could have proved to be a great everyday car as well!
Perfect explanation of Jimny's failure.. I see many comments about the look of Jimny, but this boxy design is unique among other vehicles.. Cheap interior and exterior kills it.. Definitely after 10 years this car get a good price of 6-8 lakhs in grey Market..
It looks like enlarged wagonr and so small when compared to Thar. Jeep type category cars should be larger in size. This is the reason for the failure
Problem with this car is it's mosquito like appearance. If you look Thar and Jimny side by side, this car will look like a toy car.

Just purchased Jimny , ALpha AT Dual tone from Nexa Chromepet chennai , wonderful build quality , Strong chassis, Have a feeling of driving a heavy duty vehicle , NRE staying in Gulf for more than 30 years ,owned cars and 4x4 of various brands , this is my honest opinion . jimny is a cult vehicle evolved by suzuki for more than thirty years , this cannot be the only vehicle for a family , this should be a camping vehicle , pure of-roader . if you see the Jimny owners mostly this will be second vehicle , the first vehicle will be a sedan or a hatch back for every day commuting
