Wrong! Real movers carry mirror/pict cartons. These skinny boxes are made to pack flat items such as glass/marble/pictures/mirrors/etc. up to a certain size and weight. No pads go inside the box. Paper is crumbled up and placed along the bottom than the piece being packed is placed inside the carton. Paper is crumbled and slid down along the sides of the piece and than more is crumbled and placed along the top edge. The piece is exactly in the center of the box and nothing can touch it. It’s protected all the way around and sealed with tape. The way this guy is doing it is the way it would be done if you don’t have the right boxes for the job. Because it’s better than nothing but it’s not the right way at all. Larger/heavier pieces of glass/marble/picts/mirrors may need to be crated in wood framed custom made crates. Also if they are extra expensive/fragile or being shipped long distances. I’m not sure if this video may be satire because he does everything wrong. My family has been in the moving industry since it started in America. Since 1920. I have 20 years experience of moving everyday. Only way a piece like that breaks is when packed like this guy packs or is dropped. No mover that doesn’t put their name on the trucks/business named after them is going to care like those of us who’s family name stands behind the work we do. Van lines, Agents, even local movers are out to make as much as possible. They have claims depts. Most small family owned businesses do not and if something was to break you speak to the owner or their family. We stand behind the work we do and want you to have the best moving experience possible. We will correct and issues asap. Nothing gets lost because it goes thru 3-6 depts and 5-20 different people. No one is perfect and even going well beyond what’s required things can break or get damaged. There are sometimes multiple ways to do the same things. But the instructions given in this video are the quick easy way to do something to protect it rather than nothing. It is not the correct way. It’s better than nothing.
