    Hong Kong Disneyland is such a cool resort! Besides the awesome details of Mystic Manor, another feature I love about HKDL is the MTR Disneyland Resort Line that serves the resort! The line operates a shuttle between two stations, Sunny Bay and Disneyland Resort. Sunny Bay station has a futuristic theme, while Disneyland Resort station has a Victorian theme. The idea was that the train would act like a time machine, taking people from the future to the fantasy world of Hong Kong Disneyland. The trains themselves are very different from the rest of the MTR network as they have Mickey-shaped windows, Mickey-shaped handles, and bronze statues of Disney characters in glass displays!
    The jade monkey is Sun Wukong, aka the Monkey King, a character from the legendary novel Journey to the West! In the novel, Sun Wukong possesses many abilities. He has amazing strength and is able to support the weight of two heaven mountains on his shoulders while running with the speed of a meteor! He is extremely fast, able to travel 108,000 li or 54,000 km in one somersault! After he is imprisoned for 500 years for rebelling against heaven, he goes on a journey as a disciple with a monk to obtain Buddhist sūtras (sacred texts)

    Mystic Manor's facade was actually inspired by the Bradbury Mansion that once stood in Los Angeles' Bunker Hill, designed by Samuel Newsom and Joseph Cather Newsom of the firm Newsom and Newsom. However that firm was the same firm that designed the Carson Mansion in Old Town Eureka that you mentioned! Love that the Imagineers added themselves into the group photo lol, of course not the first time they created a Society of Explorers and Adventures character after themselves since Hightower's Joe Rohde! Mystic Manor wasn't the only thing created at HKDL with Chinese culture in mind, as the park was built adhering to feng shui, like shifting the angle of the front gate by 12 degrees to ensure prosperity for the park. Besides lakes and streams, many waterfalls are strategically placed around the resort to accumulate good fortune and wealth

    On the last day of my trip to Hong Kong I went to Disneyland by myself since my friends there had other plans. To this day it's one of my best memories! I went on Mystic Manor twice and it was incredible!! Tokyo Disney Resort remains my favourite Disney park but Mystic Manor is my favourite Disney attraction so far!!

    I follow all of the major Disney Ride History and review channels when I clicked on this video I doubted that I would find it interesting. I was wrong. Simply put this was one of the most in depth and clear descriptions of a ride and it’s mechanics and I hope you continue this series not only for the overseas park but also for the American parks as well. Really a fantastic job.

    I've been on the ride since opening day and I've been on the ride thrice this week.
    I must say, this has to be one of Disney's greatest achievements and you simply cannot claim you've been to Hong Kong Disneyland without going on this ride once.

    When I went to Hong Kong, I felt locals didn't appreciate the ride that much. It is really boring when Disney re-uses ride concepts. Grizzly and Mystic are two of my top global Disney park rides. HK should be proud and continue to add more unique attractions!

      Only hard core Disney fans can learn to appreciate the ride. Locals like my brothers and cousins just treat it as another other ordinary "lame"(not my word) dark ride like Many Adventures of Pooh regardless of its advance ride system and animatronics.

    We were meant to go to Hong Kong Disneyland this year, but my appendix burst and spent over a month in hospital. Good thing we had travel insurance. As it turned out, Hong Kong Disneyland would have been closed anyway, so it all worked out. Hoping to go there sometime though, especially to ride mystic manor.

    When I first got the chance to go to mystic point it was on a Saturday around 1pm..... But the whole of Mystic Point was practically empty no guests!
    I had heard of mystic manor and was a huge fan of the haunted mansion, so I had to go on the ride and I did.. 6 times, one right after another for over an hour. The cast members naturally thought I was a bit crazy but I had a blast! The ride is simply one of the greatest, and the outside facade is truly one of the most unique. On that day I must gone back to the ride around 5 more times.
    I've always been curious what is actually inside the building on top of that hill though I think it's probably just an empty shell.
    And that tiny little monkey, Albert was super cute!

      But the real problem is. What if the music box didn't have any magic. We ride on the cart and watch the instruments, painting, dead plants and armor. This is what Henry wants the guest to see in original planning.

      You can search the English lyrics on internet. I hear the Cantonese lyrics through different ride video,
      Cantonese lyrics translate to English:
      The strong magic is ready,
      Don't close your eyes,
      The story (of the music box) does say something but you (the monkey)ignore it,
      Who will take back the place (Mystic Manor) that you gave us (armor/ everything that come alive),
      Now the magic have appeared in this place.
      Sorry for my bad English. Cuz I don't know Mandarin so I didn't translate it.

    An absolute highlight of Hong Kong Disneyland, and one of Disney’s top attractions worldwide. And surprisingly easy to get onto, across our many visits to HKDL, the longest wait time I’ve seen is 15mins. Also right beside the BEST in park restaurant food offering. The only change I hope they consider in the future is upgrading the Chinese Saloon into HD projections on the walls to make it more realistic.

    • @alishanightshade3270
      @alishanightshade3270 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, if you go there in public holiday. The waiting time will be an hour.
      I think the projection will not update. You know, HK and China always have some political problem. Shanghai disneyland need to be better than HKDL all the time. So HKDL never updated. No official lyrics release sth. like that.

    What an awesome video! If I could point out one thing though Disney had trackless ride vehicles way back to The Great Movie Ride and Tower of Terror. All Using RFD chips. Probably not necessary on Tower of Terror but The Great Movie Ride? Absolutely not. I can't even imagine the technical problems with trackless vehicles that large. It does explain however why 'stops' in the story occurred so frequently. They had to keep recharging the batteries...

    They should add this ride to one of the 3 underdeveloped parks at Disney World. It's different enough from the Haunted Mansion that it will be of interest to the general public. Since neither Hollywood Studios, Epcot nor Animal Kingdom have enough rides in these parks, it would be a welcomed addition to any of them.

      I think they like to spend money on other parks to improve than and not just having everything at Florida which already has enough. Every time there’s a unique attraction to a park not in Florida, people always ask why it’s not in Florida. This, Tron in Shanghai, Ratatouille in Paris were all ones people moaned about untill they got it, but you never hear people complaining attractions in Florida aren’t anywhere else

    Well, since you asked. The detailing and design of the queue and ride are excellent. I love the cartoon approach to it. The facade itself is one of Disney's greatest park masterworks. But I just feel like the limits of the ride system make it too dependent on one level, and that just keeps it at a Mr. Toad level experience. As such it's great, but it's not Haunted Mansion or Pirates. The staging and narrative seems really rushed too. I just don't have the love for this one that others do.

    i went to hong kong and shanghai disney (only parks i've been to) and Mystic Manor was a complete standout across the two and my absolute favourite at HK Disney so much so i rode it 3 times in one day hahahaha. I feel like people always put down HK as a small park thats not worth the visit but i'd totally disagree purely for this ride!

    it's not a great taboo in Chinese culture to talk about ghost and afterlife 😆it's all politics

  • @ZontarDow
    @ZontarDow 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    I don't think the lack of references to ghosts stems from them being taboo, but rather due to the fact that depictions of ghosts in media are outright banned in China. I don't know how much of that is at play due to the special status of Hong Kong, but it's probably the reason why.

    • @salt9767
      @salt9767 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      From HK, don't think that's at play here. There are tons of ghost stories on tv and in movies!

      Actually the taboo is a very real thing. Just ask a Chinese person to tell you about Ghost Night, and they get VERY uncomfortable. Not sure if that's true in HK though, but it sure is in Guangdong.

    Mystic Point is in the wrong place. It’s stupid you walk from Adventureland through Grizzly Gulch to get to it. The locations should have been reversed, and actually, Grizzly Gulch should have been built were the stupid Lion King show area was originally built).

    • @alishanightshade3270
      @alishanightshade3270 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Stupid? You're stupid then. Btw there's no place for them to build 3 new lands at the same period. Also the area of Lion King show have not enough place for land to build. And it happened in western not the jungle.
      When you walk after the jungle you meet the west. Walk after Fantasyland you meet the Toystoryland. What about the middle space that left. The government not yet give them extra place to put.
