This is Elvis on the piano, at his 1971 recording session, at RCA in Nashville. He would just sit down in between takes and just play. Felton heard it and said, “Hey Elvis, that’s a gas.” And they recorded it. Some of Elvis’ most soulful performances was with him accompanying himself on the piano.

It's 1970, not 1971 @ MGM studio in Culver City, LA rehearsing for Vegas, not recording; & after rehearsals he sat down @ piano -- the color portion of the video he is singing How The Web Was Woven -- the title of the video is 'Elvis Presley - "How The Web Was Woven" (rehearsal, 1970)' & I gave her the link.

I was fortunate enough to have seen him in concert on May 20, 1977, a few days less than 3 months before he passed away.

The Legend that today's Legends learned from. He was a CREATIVE SUPERNOVA. He didnt write lyrics. He SHAPED IT and performed it. And he was better at these two facets than ANYONE who ever did it. He infused the blues and gospel into EVERYTHING. Elvis Presley BLED SOUL. It is so obvious.

He has many really lots of these kind of ballets on many albums. Like Take good care of her. She thinks I still care. Loving arms. That one is really good.

I love that you appreciate the music of the 50's, 60's and 70's. Elvis' era!! I feel so fortunate that I got to grow up with him and his music, his performances, his movies, his humanity and kindness. He was a gift that is still giving. Thank you for your wonderful comments.❤❤❤

Like you, I grew up in that era also w-all the great music & remember seeing him on the small b&w TV. My mom said "He's going to be very big one day." I just sent the link to Valencia of the color footage @ piano -- it's live footage & he's singing "How The Web Was Woven" & he purposely fell off of the piano bench -- if you'd like to see it th-cam.com/video/bGnpVsO_HDM/w-d-xo.html (it's very short).

This was in the rehearsal studio 1970 @ end of the day when rehearsals were finished. He sat down @ piano & just played & sang. This other color part that you have here is of him singing "How The Web Was Woven." It is live & you'll see him purposely lean over & let himself fall off of the piano bench, very good audio & film. His voice on that song was a-m-a-z-i-n-g. Take a look at it th-cam.com/video/bGnpVsO_HDM/w-d-xo.html.

This is Elvis at his best. How The Web Was Woven is one of my all time favorites of Elvis. He just sat down and started playing, then BAM he goes into How The Web Was Woven.

@@russjohnson2478 Ok. I was focusing on where he was @ time in this footage which was in '70 LA. And when you said he's "on the piano, at his 1971 recording session, at RCA in Nashville" it makes it seem like this footage was from there at that time. Anyway, that's fine.

Eight hours into a recording session that started at 6 pm on May 19th, 1971, in Nashville, Elvis is sitting alone at the piano at 2 o'clock in the morning singing one of his favorites: Ivory Joe Hunter's "It's Still Here". He's been playing this for years at home planning to record it Sometime. This night, and understanding the magic of the moment, producer Felton Jarvis turns on the tape machine...
