The parable of the ten virgins is about the Wise = one who hears and obeys (obedient) [Psalm 19:7, Matt 7:24], Foolish =Those who are disobedient [Proverbs 1:7, Proverbs 10:8, Matt 7:26], Lamp = The commandment [Proverbs 6:23], Light = The Law (Torah) [Proverbs 6:23], Oil = Desire for obedience (Pressing/Tribulation) [Lev 24:2]. Lev 24:2 - Command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil (desire to obey) from beaten olives (our tribulation) for the lamp (commandment), that a light (the Law) may be kept burning regularly (go forth continually). Then the kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their [lamps/commandments] and went to meet the bridegroom. Five of them were [foolish/disobedient], and five were [wise/obedient]. For when the [foolish/disobedient] took their [lamps/commandments], they took no [oil/desire to obey the commandments] with them, but the [wise/obedient] took [flasks of oil/their desire to obey] with their [lamps/commandments]. As the bridegroom was delayed, they all became drowsy and slept. But at midnight there was a cry, 'Here is the bridegroom! Come out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins rose and trimmed their [lamps/commandments]. And the [foolish/disobedient] said to the [wise/obedient], 'Give us some of your [oil/desire to obey], for our [lamps/commandments] are going out.' But the [wise/obedient] answered, saying, 'Since there will not be enough for us and for you, go rather to the dealers and buy for yourselves.' And while they were going to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. Afterward the other virgins came also, saying, 'Lord, lord, open to us.' But he answered, 'Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.' Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour. Provers 23:23 - Buy truth, and do not sell it; buy wisdom, instruction, and understanding John 16:13 - When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth. What is truth? Psalm 119:142 - Your righteousness is righteous forever, and your law (Torah) is true. This is why the Word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14). Yeshua answered them, My teaching is not mine, but his who sent me (John 7:16). He is the Messiah teaching the perfect Torah (Law) from the Father. Believe in the testimony of the One who conquered sin and death and repent, turn from your sin back to His ways - the Torah (Law). The fact is The Mark of the Beast is the opposite of the Mark of God. Both are on the hand or the forehead. In Deuteronomy 5 and 6 we are commanded to write the Torah (Law) on our hands and forehead. Meaning our actions and thoughts should always be centered on the Torah. The Mark of the Beast is the opposite. It is lawlessness. It is the reason he is called the lawless one.
It is very important to note the Joseph Smith translation of Matthew 25:1 here, which reads: “And then, at that day, before the Son of Man comes, the kingdom of....”
Sir Isaac Newton wrote, “About the time of the end, a body of men will be raised up who will turn their attention to the Prophecies, and insist upon their literal interpretation, in the midst of much clamor and opposition.” Many in the learned religious circles have varied opinions about what the Lord said, and what he implied in giving this parable. The parable states, and I quote ’ “‘No,’ they replied, ‘there may not be enough for both us and you. Instead, go to those who SELL oil and BUY some for yourselves. ’ Will someone please explain to me the "go to those who SELL and BUY oil for yourselves...Where in the Sam Hill do we as members BUY our way into the kingdom of heaven... and why did they say THERE MAY NOT BE ENOUGH FOR BOTH US AND YOU? Our Stake Presidents do not sell recommends, the Bishops DO NOT sell recommends, OUR PROPHET and his Apostles DO NOT SELL recommends and from my understanding, we cannot purchase our way into the kingdom of heaven. And why did the virgins make a point of saying that there may not be enough for all of us... the Lord has provided ENOUGH of spiritual oil for everyone who wants to come unto him... and please don't go to the spiritual side of this...I have read all that President Benson and also many of the other leaders who have said including "The wise virgins could not share their oil with the foolish virgins because “the oil of spiritual preparedness cannot be shared” (Marvin J. I wonder if there is something missing in OUR translation of what the LORD intended us to learn from this parable...are we missing something, or are we just accepting what others are saying? Why did the LORD add the words BUY AND SELL and "there may not be enough for all of us." Sir Issac Newton 1642-1727 .
"the number 10 was symbolic of completion" I'm no Hebrew numerologist, but I thought that was *7.* I could be wrong, but I thought 10 usually had worldly connotations to it, such as with the 10 toes of iron and clay in Nebuchadnezzar's dream, the 10 lost tribes, and the beast's 10 horns in the Book of Revelation. I get that 10 virgins is significant in order to show the percentage of disciples who will be ready, but please don't make it about Hebraic numerological symbolism unless it already is.
Great video. Just curious... We know from scripture that the Ten Virgins represent the whole Church, and the Bridegroom represents Christ. However, the video calls the Ten Virgins Bridesmaids several times. So, you are saying the whole Church is the Bridesmaid of Christ?
You've over-complicated the meaning. D&C 45:57 says it all... 57 For they that are wise and have received the truth, and have taken the Holy Spirit for their guide, and have not been deceived-verily I say unto you, they shall not be hewn down and cast into the fire, but shall abide the day.
If the oil represents the Holy Spirit in this parable then notice that in this parable the Holy Spirit can be purchased from a vendor or given by a companion, that is, the Holy Spirit is a tradable commodity therefore not a person and not God, and is a thing that is consumed (burned) therefore again not a person and not God. The context of this parable is the previous chapter which exhorts us to not be deceived so lets not allow fine sounding spiritual nonsense distract us from the simple message of this parable in the same way we are hopefully not silly enough to believe that Jesus is a thief because there is a parable where Jesus arrives when not expected just like a thief arrives when not expected. These are parables with simple messages to be understood by anyone so let not overthink them as if only rare intellectuals can work out their meanings, so lets not be foolish about this. The simple message of this parable is to be wise enough to be prepared which is to be born again (saved), and to endure because starting well is fine but what counts is ending well and overcoming (revelation) which is doing God's will (Lord's Prayer) as His paid for permanent dedicated slaves (doulos in Greek) and precious property He cares for where doulos is typically mistranslated as servants (employees for the time being).

Just the chapter before this one, Matthew 24:45 these “servants” are JEWS, not Christians. These Jewish, male “virgins” show up in the Tribulation in REVELATION 14:1-4 Their salvation is connected with WORKS (Revelation 12:17), which is why some of them can lose it This book is tricky, but you must rightly divide or you can live your whole life knowing wrong doctrine.
