Even the thing of the Chief being a traitor is solved in the audio series, it never was meant to be the conflict of Halo 5.

What made humanity special in the Original Bungie era Halo in my opinion is that unlike alot of scfi universes humanity was pretty much where we are tech wise today but just advanced enough to hold there ground but usually at a cost. Realisticly it takes ages for new high tech shit to be wide spread for military usage. I just thought that was so fucking cool! I especially liked that at one point humanity was the top dog in the universe but got reset. But more importantly Halo was a story that was meant to end after Halo 3. The entire tag line was "Finish the fight". With Truth dead, religion shattered, and High Charity gone the Covenant were shattered and gone. If you wanted to make more Halo you literally had over 20 in game years to makes games about the war. Good examples being Reach, ODST, and Halo Wars. After all the entire war was on a galactic level. The amount of fights, stories, and characters leading up to the climax of Halo 3 was pretty much endless. Fact is some stuff is just meant to end.
Halo 4 was a very different game. It’s focus was more on developing Chief and Cortana, who up until then were practically the same in every title. But 4 actually shined a light on the effects of war, and the psychological toll it’s taken on Chief. Halo 5 pretty much fucked things up though!

It's a process similar to the industrial revolution. After so much time of not being able to do it, when they finally got the chance, it just exploded. The changes in the aesthetic are natural, and make sense for the story of the universe. Were you expecting humans to be the same after Halo 3? Obviously not, that would be dumb, and unrealistic. And it doesn't mean they're OP. They have lost many battles. Even the Spartan-IV deaths in the Requiem Campaign are comparable to the Spartan casualties on Reach. In Escalation, they lost a fight against the Covenant. Even the reason why the ONI started a civil war in Sangheilios it's because they were afraid of having to face another war. Humans took a step forward, but their technology still doesn't equate with Covenant tech, let alone Forerunner tech, and they keep their place. Claiming the look of the modern art style is "cliché and boring" is incredibly subjective. Halo art with Bungie can be said to be also generic since the sci-fic militaristic style was a trend back in the 90s (the time Halo was made). Even there's a movie, Starship Troopers, making fun of this trend. Many Halo designs are straightly "copied" from popular sci-fi stories from the 80s and 90s; Halo many times looks the same as Alien. Not because it appeals to a trend it means it's cliché. Everything is made under trends. Nothing is 100 % original, and it doesn't mean it's unoriginal. Halo had to move forward, to change in order to survive. That's called evolution. It needed another coat of paint, and the change was even gradual, passing from Halo 3, Wars, and Reach; it wasn't all of sudden as everyone say. But everyone is selective, they only see what they want to see. And they don't want to see that not because it changed it means is not what it used to be, and doesn't preserve what made it iconic and special in the first place. Even if you can say that Halo was meant to end in Halo 3, Halo 3 left too many loose ends that didn't really do honor that "Finish the Fight" line. And I'm not only talking about the Legendary Ending and many other elements that suggested the series would continue with a Halo 4. I'm talking about that the Covenant wasn't really dissolved (they defeated Truth, but they're still were many remnant forces through the galaxy that surely would merge again), about how the Flood wasn't defeated (the Flood can't be defeated since they come from out of the galaxy, this was something that even Bungie said back in Halo 3 times with Iris), that the armors of the Sartans we use in the multiplayer are made by emerging industries in the making of Mjolnir armors. Halo 3 didn't finish the fight. Halo 3 changed the fight. There was a lot of space to keep making sequels and not only spin-offs, but Bungie just wanted to move forward and leave Halo. That wouldn't be bad if they just would've closed the story, and not leaving so many loose ends. Bungie sometimes was lazy, or better said, fearful to tell a story pointing beyond, and left Halo without actually settling because of this. I'm not saying the campaigns and their stories are bad, but Bungie tried to make something more and failed. 343 had to continue the story. And where the retcons are? Do you even know what a retcon is? 343 indeed did what yourself said would be a good way to continue Halo: keep making stories within the war against the Covenant, because there are many things to be explored. This is not a retcon. All the things they have done within this span of time do have in mind the established lore. Something that sometimes not even Bungie themselves did with the books on their era, because "we only want games, not books". 343 cares for Halo way more than Bungie ever did. But the "fans" can't see this, because they're not fans of Halo. They are fans of Bungie. And that's why they demerit and qualify as bad anything of Halo that is not made by Bungie. Even back then when Halo Wars was new, everyone hated it. And kept on hating it until Halo Wars 2 came out, only because Halo Wars 2 had the classic art style (the Bungie art style) with all the lights. Because the only thing you want is to play it safe because it's easier to understand what is familiar instead of giving a chance to something new. Isn't Halo the one that lost the way. To other people saying halo is too futuristic, I mean it is futuristic but the creator did a very good job to keep to human technology feeling like an natural evolution of things we have today. Also the most compelling thing to me about the Bungie Halo story was how the war ended. Humanity didn't beat the Covenant in a straight fight they defeated them with a combination of luck and clandestien operations, taking advantage of the Covenants weaknesses. Iirc the Covenant had no equivalent to ONI so couldn't perform effective counterintelligence and this is what lost them the war. Making humans super op in makes sense logically, think opperation paperclip post WWII, but it doesn't fit the theme of the story. If they wanted to properly continue they should have made the enemy the flood or the didact or something else the humans couldn't just yeet, looking at you Covenant Remnant. The current story seems to be a bad combination of all those things into a confusing mess, the Forerunner are back but not really its just one guy and some robots, no wait the robots are people. Then cortanas going rampant, but now shes not, and now she ahs the logic plague, no wait she's just insane and wait ohh shit she took the mantle, wait how does one just take it (the foreunners had to genocide the precursors to win the mantle and burned for it)

I wish ODST was like Landfall. You are such an un super soldier that you feel like you are playing a completely different FPS but are in a giant battlefield against dozens of alien weapons and battleships floating above your head. But instead they just copy and pasted Halo 3 and got rid of your shields and called it a day.
Wait a god damn minute. Last few seconds of the video, 23:35 That looks a lot like a guardian. I realize Halo 5 has lots of guardians but here chief is running TOWARDS the guardian ad he is trying to maybe board or attack it. In Halo 5 he is pretty much welcomed aboard any of the guardians he visits. Second this 'guardian' is on a human planet. Again I realize that meridian was a human owned planet with a guardian and this could have happened else where... But I feel like this trailer COULD (not saying it IS, just that it could) actually be plausible in future Halo stories/ infinite. I realize infinite is on zeta Halo with the banished but I guarantee the guardians must be involved somewhere and I think that this last trailer could be the end of the game or some story close to the time of the game. What if infinite is when chief meets his doom? The other Halo 5 trailers could also be plausible in this scenario but that would need a lot more imagination :P
This shit is so much better than even the Halo show's action scenes. Which are all right. Everything else sucks in that show. Love how that entire fight, the entire company of ODST's holding out simply to mark the Chief coming down through atmosphere.

Out of all of them, I'm torn between Halo Reach: Deliver Hope and Halo 3: We Are ODST (The Life) as my personal favorites. And its pretty hard to pick out of them all, considering that just about all of them, even Halo 4 and 5's trailers were pretty good. Just a shame Halo 4 had wasted potential and Halo 5 was terribly underwhelming.

I've been searching the internet for these trailers in the highest quality possible and for most of them, 720p is the best I could find! but this, somehow everything I've been looking for is in 1080p right here! I wish ODST was like Landfall. You are such an un super soldier that you feel like you are playing a completely different FPS but are in a giant battlefield against dozens of alien weapons and battleships floating above your head. But instead they just copy and pasted Halo 3 and got rid of your shields and called it a day.

That looks a lot like a guardian. I realize Halo 5 has lots of guardians but here chief is running TOWARDS the guardian ad he is trying to maybe board or attack it. In Halo 5 he is pretty much welcomed aboard any of the guardians he visits. Second this 'guardian' is on a human planet. Again I realize that meridian was a human owned planet with a guardian and this could have happened else where... But I feel like this trailer COULD (not saying it IS, just that it could) actually be plausible in future Halo stories/ infinite. I realize infinite is on zeta Halo with the banished but I guarantee the guardians must be involved somewhere and I think that this last trailer could be the end of the game or some story close to the time of the game. What if infinite is when chief meets his doom? The other Halo 5 trailers could also be plausible in this scenario but that would need a lot more imagination :P

This shit is so much better than even the Halo show's action scenes. Which are all right. Everything else sucks in that show. Love how that entire fight, the entire company of ODST's holding out simply to mark the Chief coming down through atmosphere.

It makes me so sad knowing we've gone past the golden age of media, before everything became corporate and shallow, dominated by think tanks who need to make everything mediocre to appeal to the masses. Why couldn't we just keep our beautiful futuristic yet grounded military shooter, with all of the dark gritty undertones that come with it? Rest in peace Halo, it disgusts me seeing what they've done to you, sapping all of the life and spirit from the meticulously created world. Who needs ODST's or headhunters when you have an army of power ranger spartans? What happened to the budget constraints that made the UNSC only have a limited number of spartans? Out of all of them, I'm torn between Halo Reach: Deliver Hope and Halo 3: We Are ODST (The Life) as my personal favorites. And its pretty hard to pick out of them all, considering that just about all of them, even Halo 4 and 5's trailers were pretty good. Just a shame Halo 4 had wasted potential and Halo 5 was terribly underwhelming.
