- A green oak bench made by Tom Bickerdike from a fallen tree. Using just hand tools this bench was created over the space of two days. The oak tree was from Horsenden Hill Woods in North Ealing, London and needed to be felled for safety reasons.
A joiner by trade Tom has a love of working with wood

You've inspired me to do this with my tree log
absolutely lovely... grand dad was wood worker, built grandma's house... couldn't read or write, i would later work with wood in different capacity, but wonderful with the hand tools and no "hardware"... love it completely. GOD BLESS
I have always had a lot of appreciation of people who can do things with wood. I want to make bench like that!
Super cool! Great video and incredible craftsmanship. Thank you.

gran ejemplo de hacer bien las obras felicitaciones y gracias precioso trabajo
Very nice; loved watching the hard work that went into creating this nice bench re-purposed from nature's gift! Thanks for sharing it. Also, why on earth would anyone "dislike" this video - I mean, what's not to like, unless you just are not interested in the subject, and in that case why even watch it? Sigh...
I love the work. Please post another solid wood furniture again. Love natural furniture.
I'm talking to Tom about another video. Just trying to decide what to make next. Thanks for your comment
The follow up is now posted th-cam.com/video/F4NDTsoZrdw/w-d-xo.html

very, very nice....thanks
Amazing
Excelente trabalho
Tremendo.
Thank God for power tools!
Clearly missing the point of this video. No one is against power tools but this is a celebration of a man who enjoys direct contact with his material. He is also an accomplished carpenter who uses modern equipment.
@@stevehaskett100 Like said Thank God for Power Tools. I am not sorry for you taking it personally. I never said anything about this mans ability. Steve you Need to take a chill pill
Eu tô querendo fazer um banco forte assim parabéns você tem muita dedicação e paciencia
BRAVO!
Nice work! I love your using of hand tools in the whole process. Was the log still wet or have you air-dried it already?. Thx
The planks were air dried before Tom started to work with them. Maybe check out the spoon carving video I did with Tom th-cam.com/video/s4THlKAZ9hM/w-d-xo.html
Ficou muito lindo parabéns.
Vou fazer um assim em breve.
Muito tempo lá atrás. Se faziam manual. Era bem feito rústico
Really amazing work in an artist's hand

Hermosa!
Tu hermisa nena😉
Gracias 👍👍👍👍👍
Loved the video; masterful skill and the bench looks great! Question for you; what would you recommend to finish the wood to protect it from UV/Water over time? I want to build one of these out in my forest and want it to last! Thank you.
I'm just the cameraman but Tom assured me that Oak looks after itself and doesn't need treating.
Thanks!
Awesome
Super!

Salam bos ku saya nyimak dan nonton di sini 💖💖💖 hallo Im from indonesia 🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩🇮🇩
7:49 amazing
Well done, do you ever polyurethane the log benches?
Should it be covered with oil to preserve from moisture/UV?
No. The beauty of Oak is it can be left untreated. It will silver and crack a bit in places but that is part of it's rustic charm. This bench is two years old now and standing strong
Боготыри!👍
I Love 👏👏👏👏👏
hi, i am trying to get this made. may i know the lenght of the bench and hight of the feet? thx
that was so nice. i am trying to figure out how one might add a back to this. any ideas
Sorry. I just made the film and unfortunately don't have a lot of contact with Tom at the moment. I'm sure he'd have an idea so why not try to contact him via his website www.thomasbickerdike.com
