Today, on day 153 of sobriety, I listen to and react to Gabriel Henrique's cover of "I Want to Know What Love Is" by Choral Black to Black.
Before diving into the music, I share a bit about my day. I haven't slept much because I've been trying to sleep outside while rearranging my living space. That didn't go well, and I only managed to get one or two hours of sleep. Despite the exhaustion, I had a morning session, attempted to nap again, and then had an afternoon session. It's been a busy and tiring day, but I'm feeling good overall, and my sobriety is holding steady.
As for the music, I was surprised by Gabriel Henrique's soft and somewhat feminine voice. While I love his vocal range, I expected a bit more power for this cover. His super high pitch is impressive, but I would have preferred a little more depth and darkness in his voice. Nevertheless, I'm glad for the recommendation and will definitely check out more of his work.

The one Gabriel worships, he went to the Walk of Fame to kneel at her star during his AGT audition. Then he also went to her Christmas concert last November in Los Angeles and was like a kid in front of Santa Claus....He's so touching when he talks about Mariah, and he wouldn't allow anyone to dare even think of comparing him to Mariah... He's so right, but many do that unfortunately!!!
How disrespectful, Mariah is twice Gabriel's age and sorry : one overriding rule: ALWAYS HONOR the original Artist, even if you're a genius, it's called good manners and RESPECT... And especially when our Gabriel has always and also said, during an AGT Interview :

Nevertheless, he ends his video with a GLOW on his face when he mentions Mariah again, confirming that of course he'll be going to her concert in Sao Paulo next September, what a question! ??

Of course I understand the image you're trying to convey. I just want to say that the impact these words

A “Cover” is when someone copies & pastes the song of another singer and/or writer without consent. The Singer slaps the word “Cover” onto the description of the song. That is meant to cover their ass. In this case Gabriel went & received permission market this song as his own. Gabriel’s version brought back some of the guitar licks from “Foreigner” the Rock Group that in the early 1980’s released the Original with two members of the group wrote the song. Mariah Carey took added whistles note removed most the Rock & Mariah Carey’s Version was approved to Market without the word “Cover” on the label. I’ve heard Gabriel described in many ways, but never feminine. There are few people men or women in the world that are able hit 1 note up there in the “Whistle Register”. Much less move around up there. I started following him in 2020, during the COVID-19 lock down. He has gained recognition he deserves. 🎚
