I really liked this version. I think Both singers did this song justice. I just think that everone is so used to hearing JL version and that is why it is so hard to accept someone else singing as it is a classic. I must admit i preffer the oringal ending as this song was meant to be a symbol of a better world so I like the the ending being "And the World will live as one" instead of "I Hope someday you will join us" but either way it was really good

However as they say, nothing beats the original. People were stunned and wept when they heard it the 1st time when it was performed by Lennon as it was a song of hope and dreams of a better world. learn to love new versions of this song as this is a new decade, not the 70's anymore. all of them were better than blake from american idol. each had it's own uniqueness and brought different meanings...if you listened to the tones carefully. the new archuleta was really telling it you how he felt, or what people might of said to him, like we all still judge and hate. it shouldn't be that way. let's give life a chance and our hearts will dance.
It's a beautiful song, my friend, but I don't think David portrayed it well. John Lennon has a beautiful voice and gave the original message. Josh has a light voice that makes the song float. David isn't... there yet. I think he could be, but I don't think you can compare him to Josh or John yet. One day, when he develops, perhaps, but not now. He's too young, he hasn't grown into his voice.
This song is on a CD/DVD that is called "Instant Karma" that was done by a lot of really wonderful artists, INCLUDING Josh, to help out with the hunger in Dafur! It should still be available. He was asked to do it, when he was having breakfast with Yoko Ono & Sean Lennon, as she wanted ONLY HIM to sing the song that she loved so much! let archuleta send out positive messages to our teens. we don't need more war and hatred in this world. his version would actually send out a positive message for the youth who listens to him and looks up to him.

His voice is amazing but there are just some songs that the original will always be the only "one". You know?
