You have to remember that this movei isn't technically canon and takes place in an Alternate Universe setting. Glad to hear that the action was killer tho.
I also watched the movie at the Egyptian. I agree that the Titans were the best but I liked the new story choices. The closest analogy would be that the movie differs from the anime and the manga the same way that J. J. Abrams new Star Trek movies differ from the original cast. Same story elements but done in a fresh new way. And some of the characters stayed the same. Jean is still Jean, Sasha is still Sasha, Hanji is still Hanji..... I want to see it again. Highly recommended.

Just from the trailer, I'm wondering why they decided to cover everything in poop. In the show people have baths, the streets are repetitively clean, the place isn't covered in poop. So, over all, it's ok for a product that tries to squeeze hours of Anime into a 2hr movie.
The story is based in Japan, the scouting legion is created only to repair the breach in the wall, Levi is not in it and replace by a guy called Shikishima (but do the same things) add romance between the new character and Mikasa, Erwin is not there either and both Eren parents are dead before the movie, so no mom being eaten, it's a different character who face the titan...

As my Japanese wife keeps telling me, Anime creators are pushing more Anime into the west as Anime is just a kids thing in Japan and the general adult population laugh at it as childish crap, but American adults seem to eat it up and throw money at it. i disagree the cg on the titans was sub par at best they could have made this a real gem easily with cg and green screens but id have made the titans identicle to the in the anime. the adaption with modern technology anihilated the main themes. opening scenes sucked, they completely altered the fact misaka armen and erin all escaped together on the boat to the next gate,their training in the acadamy, didnt use the correct district names, ignored key story moments, as well as charectors, the fact misaka never left erins side, how she actually got his scarf, the scene where the guy saves them so they can make it to the boat, probably the only scene correct was when erin got eaten saving armin..plus youd thonk they would give armen a wig or something...shit all the characters were Japanese when in the anime/ manga only misaka was Japanese etc i give this movie 1 star at best
