Recover Sending to Ethereum Address on Binance Smart Chain (Setup BSC for MyEtherWallet & Metamask)

- A video which walks through how to recover if you have withdrawn Bitcoin (or any crypto) using either the Binance pegged ERC20 tokens or the Binance Smart Chain (BEP20 tokens) to your Ethereum Address. Covers how to do this with MyEtherWallet and Metamask as well as what to do if you are a hardware wallet user (Ledger Nano, Trezor, Keepkey) as well as what to do if you are using a software wallet that doesn't support the Binance Smart Chain. These kinds of wrapped Bitcoin are also quite dangerous in that if you send them to an exchange (or smart smart contract that doesn't support them, they cannot be recovered) Simply put, if you are just trying to save on transaction fees, this is a really dangerous way to do that.
This video us also useful for those who want to setup and use their hardware wallet (or metamask) with the binance smart chain.

If you are new to Crypto, my suggestion is that you start with buying ~$150 worth of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin @ Coinbase and get familiar with storing it, moving it around, etc.

By sticking with large, reputable exchanges for your first purchase (Coinbase) and first trade (Binance) you can avoid getting scammed right at the start by purchasing a non-existing coin off a scammy exchange. (You would be surprised how many people fall into this trap)
Don't have a hardware wallet?
Be safe and buy them direct from the manufacturer. (Not just through some random on eBay, Amazon, etc)

No wonder it can go wrong when you can choose from 3 different networks (BEP2, BEP20 and ERC20) - by default you (of course) go with the cheapest one before you actually understand it completely :)

It's misleading for binance to call these selections "transfer networks", as if you're just choosing the path, and not choosing a different asset all together. This is a serious problem.
Agree, it's completely insane for them to be doing a transparent crypto conversion like this. It's totally unsurprising that newbies end up sending these tokens on to any exchange that supports Bitcoin and wonder why they lost the lot...

Both chains have the same address. But the Binance side has no record of the Compound coins. How would I recover them back to atomic or any of my ethereum wallets?

Just follow the process in the video, if you sent to a wallet where you have the private keys, it should be straightforward

Boom, another person helped from this video!!! Sent Sushi (BEP20) from Trust Wallet to Ledger Wallet ETH (ERC20) address...lost in limbo. Funds recovered back to Trust wallet using this video! The funds were safe in Ledger apparently but with no easy way to access them. Fortunately with the Ledger, you control the private keys. Another + for hardware wallets vs exchanges. Can't imagine the headache there would be if an exchange was involved. Thanks again!

FYI, if this as an exchange, it would likely have been unrecoverable, so yea, certainly a big advantage of self custody.

I have an issue.. Someone hacked my metamask wallet and all the money is gone but I still have staked assets in metamask wallet. For security, I changed my passward then my old address is disappeared. Do you know how to solve this issue?
You will need to use the old (compromised) seed to access those funds. (Though depending on how your account was compromised they might get instantly taken too)

It's browser based. If you aren't coming from a hardware wallet then just use Metamask.

If you are using trust then you can enable the chain/coin and the funds will be there. (That wasn't an option when this video was made)

Sorry, would you have received the binance Btc if you sent it into the bep20 address rather than the Erc20 token address? Since its a binance btc token ? Or is it because we are using the etherium network from ledger, then the receiving address would have to be an erc20 recieving address under btc instead?
BSC is just a low effort Eth clone, so every Eth address is also valid on the BSC network... Basically it will have been sent on whichever network you selected when you did the withdrawal from Binance.

Please help me, for some reason my money is showing up as "eth" on the binance smart chain and I can't figure out why. I was able to purchase drip and then when I went to deposit on drip it says I can't bc there is no bnb for gas fees since my funds in metamask are showing up only as eth on the bsc. What should I do? Sounds like your eth is on the smart chain as a token (just like in this video) so basically you will need some BNB on that address to pay the transaction fees.

hi there, i have a question, i have problem recovering my bnb token on metamask, on 12:38 you have token showed on bscscan, while on my bacscan token isnt showing, i can only see txn hash, block, age, from, to, value and txn fee
BNB won't appear with a token contract, as it is the native currency on the Binance Smart Chain, so you can skip that step.

Hi,
I sent wrapped ONE from a smartchain wallet to my ONE wallet which also has an ETH address. I wanted to connect to the ONE/ETH wallet to be able to get my ONE back, but when I try to connect, it only gives a short list of addresses per page, I looked through a few pages, but I don't see my ETH address listed and there are probably thousands or more address to choose from. Is there any way to manually enter the address I want to connect to instead of picking one form the auto generated list?

Hey I had a question. So I had my ETH stored on a Ledger hard wallet. I downloaded Metamask, and imported the wallet. I was prompted for my seed phrase and a "new password"
All of a sudden theres no balance in my ledger and it's not showing up in Metamask either. I see an outbound transaction to an unknown address. I have no idea what happened. I never gave out my seed phrase or anything.
Not sure what to do and if its possible to get my ETH back, or if I did something wrong. Please advise
When you say that you "imported the wallet" what does that mean? Did you just enter your seed phrase in? (It sounds like you have your seed away)

if etherscan and bscscan doesn't find your ERC20 transaction what do you do. bscbscan finds my bep20 though

@@CryptoGuide my husband withdraw his ethereum from Binance to Coinbase BEP-20 it shows it successfully left Binance. But did not reach Coinbase. Both customer services say they can’t help. We are stuck. The Txid was from Binance. when we use meta mask it says 0ETH. We are beginners so it’s all very overwhelming lol
Do you mean the exact Coinbase wallet app here wallet.coinbase.com/ (that gives you a seed phrase when you set it up) or are you referring to the Coinbase website/app/exchange?
But this dosen't work if you have sent it to an address you don't own, right?
No, there is no way to recover funds from an address that you don't have the private keys for. You need to work out where you got the address from and contact the owner.

Hi there, so I accidentally sent some of my BNB to my Trust Wallet, but after sending on receive the BNB that I picked was apparently an ERC20 address. So after that I logged into MyEther with my Trust Wallet. I changed the Network to Bscscan as u mentioned in the video. After it changed I can see my BNB balance which was wonderful.
But whenever I try to send the BNB to my Binance wallet, I keep seeing that I want to transfer Ethereum on my Trust Wallet and not BNB..
So it obviously tell me that u don't have enough ethereum to send the transaction.
I don't know what do? I can clearly see my BNB balance on MyEther, but whenever I want to send the some/whole balance to my Binance account, it keeps showing Ethereum on my Trust Wallet, as I made a mistake by sending BNB to a ERC20 in my Trust Wallet.
Can u please help?
Just enable smart chain in trust wallet and your funds will be there.

i transfered some eth from binance to metamask. and So with the metamask one, when i add token and do the copy/paste of the contract address. it doesn't auto add the token symbol, i did mine through bep-20.
So have you found the funds in a block explorer? You need to make sure you are using the smart contract on the chain that you sent the funds on.
Hey CG! I had a question. Sent some ORN from binance via BSC to the deposit address on Kucoin. Did a test ammount and it hasnt come through. Was the right process to send to metamask then Kucoin ORN address? Thanks!
You need to make sure that you are sending both a supported token AND on a supported network. If you send to Kucoin using like the Binance Smart Chain, the funds will be lost... You likely need to send an ERC20 token...

If the person who you sent the funds to controls the private keys for those addresses then they can follow the process in this video to recover the funds.
I sent Binance US BUSD to my Ethereum on the coinbase exchange. Would this process work for me? I didn’t have the coinbase wallet prior to this mistake. I downloaded it later.
John Adams, unfortunately since you sent the funds to a custodial wallet/exchange, your only option is to contact their support and hope that they help you.
