An additional piece of advice: any time you're setting up 2FA (two-factor authentication), ALWAYS set up a backup method of 2FA so you don't get caught in the event that you do erase or lose your phone. Learn more here: th-cam.com/video/fzUVrz0ixn8/w-d-xo.html
100%. I was paranoid enough to double check before wiping my phone, and yup, authenticator app did not transfer over correctly! Thank goodness I did not wipe my data yet.
This is the reason I cannot recommend authenticator apps to anyone who isn't above average tech literate. SMS may be far less secure, but you don't lose access to all of your accounts if you lose your phone. I religiously upload an updated encrypted recovery file to the cloud whenever I add a 2FA to Aegis. I don't expect most people to be able to stick to such a routine.
Also no videos I’ve seen have mentioned the importance of unpairing devices (Apple Watch, etc.) before erasing device and trading in. I had to sign back into my old device and unpair my watch then sign out and erase again so I could pair it with my new phone.
thats why Authy from Trello is such an amazin 2FA app... yes its closed source and we have no idea about privacy, but is super secure, just enable extra pin code and its ALWAYS sync on the cloud on all your devices. I've been using it for years and never had a problem if you're worried about privacy remember this video is showing an app from Google.
I read reviews for Authy and several people are claiming that the account info never gets deleted. They’re saying they can log in with the supposedly deleted account even after 30 days which is the date you can’t retrieve your account… I’m seeing these kind of things recently and it’s terrifying.
I have already lost google authenticator an microsoft authenticator. Lucky me, I didn't erase the old phone. I could transfer the keys to the new one. I'm wondering why Apple does not add a step to the setup wizard when you configure the new phone. It is easy to detect that some authenticator apps are installed...
@@AllThingsSecured I don't think its about whose fault or responsibility it is. It seems to me that Apple could just take the stance of helping their customers have the best experience transferring to a new iPhone. At the very least they could put a reminder during the transfer process to "check your authenticator apps to see if they transferred your tokens", then list all the authenticator apps on the phone.
@@AllThingsSecured Oh man, please do some research about Raivo as review and your opinion :D according to PrivacyGuides they are safe and very good then Auty/others like FF/Brave then Chrome..
WOW mille mercis. J’ai tellement peur de tout effacer. Heureusement que j’ai vu votre vidéo. Et merci aussi d’avoir appuyé sur « What’s next for this iPhone ». Je vais aller consulter votre autre vidéo.
Once my transfer is completed.can i just factory reset my old phone or do i have to log out from my crypto wallet accounts.if i dont log out from my crypto wallet accounts and reset factory my old phone will i loose my crypto(even if my transfer is already completed?)
You LEFT OUT a CRUCIAL detail -- that transfer to the new phone doesn't matter if you still need to restore your backup. So the people who have to hand over their phone at the store when upgrading/trading in to the new phone will have to restore from cloud first before transferring the codes. Otherwise they'll get wiped out.
Agree. How about helping us with a step by step to erase phone? I transferred everything but my old phone did not come up with a “Push this button to be told step by step how to erase this phone.” So now what do I do?!
@@AllThingsSecured Absolutely. I am presently trying to get something like a raspberry pi zero device that can run an OS while being hardware incapable of connecting to any network so that I can build my file of critical private keys, passwords etc.
thankfully MS authenticator makes it easy to transfer the 2FA codes on a new device, AS LONG as you set up cloud backup on your old device. if you didn't, you're probably screwed
This is a good point. 1Password and KeePassXC (StrongBox on iOS) can also be used as authenticators as well and you don't have to worry about this issue.

Man, this is a well-timed video. With everyone upgrading to iPhone 14, this is going to be very useful.
👍🏻👍🏻
About to upgrade to 16 pro max but yes great timing for it to pop up for me like targeted advertising🤣
100%. I was paranoid enough to double check before wiping my phone, and yup, authenticator app did not transfer over correctly! Thank goodness I did not wipe my data yet.
I know, right!?
Kudos dude! Fantastic catch. I was about to erase my old phone and saw your video. As a result, saved my authentication data!! Thank you!

I like Authy as well, but I recognize that many people use Google Authenticator. Hence, this video.

Such an important step I made sure to do this for my work 2FA but not Google or Microsoft

It’s not Apple…I think the apps themselves purposely don’t transfer the data.
I’m wondering same???

Can you add two Factor authentication on Argos account???
I’m not sure.
Hi! If I reset my old Iphone, is it will affect my new one?
No! It shouldn’t
I wonder why didn't you use Raivo that support iOS/Apple?
Because I've never heard of it before.

What phone case is that on your new phone?
Just the one from Apple.

I'm bout sell my iPhone and already factory reset but didn't sign out my icould wat happens
Good day mate
Thanks 🙏
Nice.
So this is all about Google Authenticator! So why not put that in the title? 🙄

I do a factory reset, done and done on android anyway.
It’s still important to sign out of your main Apple/Google account before resetting.
This is horrifying for everyone that uses a 2FA app.
That's why I always preach that you need to create a backup for any important 2FA (key or app)
@@AllThingsSecured Absolutely. I am presently trying to get something like a raspberry pi zero device that can run an OS while being hardware incapable of connecting to any network so that I can build my file of critical private keys, passwords etc.

Correct. Google authenticator now has something similar, I think.
hi , can you know explain about tiktok two factor authentication ?? if someone hack my account and i trying sms but I cannot. 😢
also code*
So what if you are selling your old phone and you can’t even reset the old phone …
Hitting it with a heavy hammer will usually do the trick! Especially for an iPhone!!!
😂🤣
Scary
Agreed.
👍🏻

That is correct. There are some Authenticator options that have a backup outside of a single app.
Nobody should be using Google Authenticator. So many better options available.
Please people, use a better 2FA application.
