I listened to Derrick White’s Dad on GWE and his take on the slump was very tempered. He basically said that there are countless factors that go into each game and each has variance. Last season when someone on the team was having an off night, usually others were having a good one. This season, the ups and downs have been more in synch and we have nights were several guys are off at once. He included his son in that too. He remained confident and said there are no hidden injuries or drama, it’s just basketball variance. I want to believe him.
I truly respect Mr. White(Derrick's Dad), but I don't totallly agree with him. Unfortunately, his son, is nowhere close to how he played last year. But, it's not only him. Tatum, Brown, Jrue and yes Hauser, have truly regressed this year and this lack of execution and effort is unacceptable!
This game is why the Celtics should've lost the Pelicans game. They were rewarded with a win for horrible execution in clutch while UP in that game and now those bad habits come back and end the Celtics in this game against Hawks. It's a perfect representation of why Playoffs are gonna be worrisome. Getting rewarded with wins for bad play, then goes on to build bad habits. If the Celtics coast in 2nd-5th seed range then that can have them come into the playoffs with bad habits and fail. Idk if that's a crazy overreaction or not.
Really bad loss... Just undisciplined play all around, and I really don't get why we so often went with JB as the primary ball handler in the 4Q and OT when Pritchard was hot, Pritchard, D. White, Tatum and Holiday are all better ball handlers who are much better at facilitating the offense... JB just ran into dead ends. As great as JB can be, he should be a cutter and fast-break threat - not "ISO or stand in the corner". We're not playing to our strengths at all.
Sam, what happened to Pritchard happens so many times with KP when he’s shooting lights out, can’t miss and yet they go away from him. That’s why he doesn’t score 40 or 50 in the recent past.
Also I could have sworn that DWhite took a three and all he had to do is make a quick pass to a wide open Pritchard. And it happened twice!!! Like holy shit!
Every time Tatum takes a last second shot, I always think he'll miss it. A play should have drawn up to get PP the final shot at the end of regulation.
If anything, this stretch makes me value Joe more, because focus and toughness are what get us through these slogs with mid-level teams. I guarantee Joe is focused and wouldn’t dream of not giving 100.
Houser missed the dunk was funny, but we still came away with two points cuz dude stepped out of bounds and Celtics still had the ball which became free throws so technically on that same possession a few seconds later we got the two points…😅
Imagine if they would actually use the players who are hot, instead of going always to their star player? It's the issue where coach does not have enough power to tell it's all-star, no its not your turn, because you have been shooting 33%...
How did PP get iced out at end of the game, you ask Sam? Is it on Mazzulla? These guys need a leader that motivates them, yells at f-ups, and does what great coaches do. Stop mouthing weirdo comments and be a coach.
