Hi folks! Thank you for the video and the product you build. I have been working in IT for 15+ years. I've made the path of SWE -> Sr. SWE -> Entrepreneur -> Tech lead/Team lead -> Delivery Manager. It was laid through companies of different sizes. Now I work for one of the biggest European tech. But still, I have the following questions about the EM role: 1. Could you pls explain the "Why" behind having the EM role in the company? What is the real need for it? 2. It was a long explanation of the role, but no real-world examples of the results. Could you pls mention something tangible and measurable? 3. It was mentioned that the role is impactful. So, what are the examples of the positive and especially negative impact of someone in the role? 4. One of the EM role challenges mentioned was "delegation". But is the EM role associated with any responsibility for a product scope/deliverables in your company? What exactly does EM delegate in your context? 5. Another aspect of turning into the EM mentioned was "the art of letting go". But what about acquiring new skills as then there is free capacity after dropping the technical contribution?
This was a really great video, I’m in the crossroads and I’ve found it very hard to decide between these 2 roles. With this amazing interview covering a vast array of fields and questions I can now choose better. I’ll share with more people to help them as well. Thanks!
