I was in my first year of grad school at WVU that fall. That win over Penn St. has been one of my favorite memories of Morgantown. It took weeks to clean up the city after the victory parties. And, no, I wasn't on the goal posts when they came down.
WVU hadn't beaten Penn State since 1955. The Randolph touchdown will always be the lasting memory of this game. We actually weren't set up to get ESPN from our cable company yet. They gave the whole town the feed early.

@@paulsonj72 He lost to future coach JJ and teammate MI and was replaced by a nat champ qb, couldn't get his job back. Switzer helped him transfer to UCLA for two strong seasons which led to his #1 draft rank.
started throwing the ball way too late w/ a lousy thrower...terrible coaching job by joe pa in this game. I liked playing for the win, but, throwing into coverage with defense waiting for them to throw. John Schaefer was no todd blackledge, heck, he wasn't even anthony morelli.
