So my son and I just undertook this little project over this past weekend…one spring was already busted so it came off easy… razor to the rubber bushing and pry the inner sleeve… DONE! The other side needed the grinder to get it apart … then cut the rubber and use a small bottle Jack to spin it… patience with the inner sleeve and then heat the bolts… and they came out like butter… I recommend your method 100%!
Hey Crazy. What an interesting and creative solution!! Just to confirm your steps (forward position only), you cut the spring eye off to get the leaf out the way. Then, you halved the outer bushing sleeve - now you’re down to rubber. Then you cut thru the rubber to the inner sleeve. Then cut the inner sleeve and pried it off to get to the bolt. At this point you can really heat that bolt to remove it without breaking loose the welded nut inside the frame. Questions: How’d you cut the rubber? How’d you split/cut the inner sleeve? Same cutoff wheel? I agree that when your springs are gonzo, why not just cut them off? I think is a brilliant solution! Thank you!!
Good work Nordlander. I am not too excited about getting under a vehicle any more. I used to do all my own work but today, heck no. I'll pay someone else to break knuckles. I can now afford it. Nice run-through as to how you removed the shackles. Yep, once those bolts get rusted, everything becomes one big rusted piece. Watch yourself doing this work. It doesn't take much to do an O-Sh*t move by mistake and get hurt badly. Thumbs up, Nordlander.

Oh-now I see it!
I want to see a video of how you sliced yourself and ended up with 7 stiches!!! Yes, Belinda told me. You can't get by with anything.
