It seems like Jay recorded his verse for the original version and Kanye went and put it on the remix. It'd fit much better on the original track, but given how well Ye's verse leads into Jay's, it's more likely he just said fuck the subject matter lol
I like Kanye's verse more because his lyrics were conscious an meant something , actually gave me chills lol . But but Lyrically Jay did say some shit on top of some shit lol . But I will have to say Kanye made this song shine because of his topic of the song , it's real shit .
Listen again, Jay's exploring the theme of rocks, diamonds 'put under pressure, but his shit don't crack'...the entire 'business' of dealin rocks. He's a metaphorical genius so easy to miss things.

@@roychi crazy that you're still around
The pressure's on, but guess who ain't gonna crack? 🤣🤣🤣Haha, pardon me, I had to laugh at that
Listen to what the song is really about. It has a great message about what really goes on in Sierra Leone with the diamonds. It's not about the rap here' it's about the message Kanye is trying to deliver.
Jay's verse referred to his breakup with Rocafella brass (Dame and Big) and it ties in perfectly with the title. Big Brother definitely kick his ass.
Jay verse is straight legendary here
"How could you falter when you're the Rock of Gibraltar?
I had to get off the boat so I could walk on water"
large crows gathered to see Jesus, only for him to rise on the third day after crucifixion (Luke 23:18-42). Jay-z is using a lot of sublime messages in this, and almost all his songs. " had to get off the boat so he can walk on water" (Matthew 14:15). "Difficult takes a day, impossible takes a week" (Matthew 19:26). Can you try to guess who Jay-z is trying to claim he is? Do you need more evidence? These are versus in other Jay-z songs, lets see if you can guess which songs there are..."Its the return of the vicar", "If Jesus is paying Lebron I am paying D-Wayde", "I am the rock (featuring Mavado, and Manado telling Jay-z (Jay-Hova) to guide him) etc. And lets look at Jay-z name closely after dropping the "z" from Jay, and adding the Hova, so now he is Jay Hova. Last but not least, how does Jay-z end his verse in the song "Never let me down?
@@mwanamazala5088 bro its been 10 years
I've only heard a few extra seconds of the original singer's track now, and it already gives me chills.
jay and kanye together is genius and a gift to hip hop!
You need to leave this place fast when it goes out, run fly, far
A masterpiece!!
Kanye kilt his verse 💯💯💯
Much love for this gem. On fire. Still one of the best rap tracks ever.
On that Diamonds remix, I swore I spazz.
Then big brother came through and kicked my ass.
Sibling rivalry, only I could see
Probably the best hand off of the mic I've ever heard.
If your waiting for the end, the dynasty sign, it will seem like forever; is a mighty long time.!
AMAZING REMIX! and great meaning! and Jova was on point like always.
Type of song that gets you bumping in your car speakers. Kanye's music just knows how to gets you hyped with his beats
"As long as I'm alive, he's a millionaire." I'd love to be in Bleek's position.
I Swear
Even if I die he's in my will somewhere.
Next thing you know you’re dead by the age of 33
"As long as Jay a millionaire Imma never go broke"
the background screaming at 2:40 - 2:45 is soooo sick
fuck a madrid fan
danny brown
how that does have anything to what he just implied ? troll much ?
it's a playfull joke from a barca fan. now fuck off - not a playfull one
danny brown fuck barcelona
@@lazer1235 I AM THE ONE WHO KNOCKS
Listening and loving this during 2021 Lockdown.
20 years later and still one of the greatest songs of all time
Kanye West killed the Hov verse took the song to a whole nother level
I definitely agree
Agreed
the pressure is on but guess who aint gonna CRACK!!!
Jay mentioning that Bleek is always gonna be secured financially was sick. I Respect That.
Jay went so hard on this remix. Quotable after quotable!!
I’ve always loved this version more than the original. He really brings to light the ongoing issue of blood diamonds. If only this was paired with the music video
This was like one of the first rap songs I actually remember finding on my own.
"On the Diamonds remix i swear i spazzed! Till big brother came through and kicked my ass!" - Kanye West
Wasn’t messin around when he said “yup, I got it from here ye” DAMN!!
Top 5 Hov verse ever!!!!
Let’s go DUSTIN PORIER 💎
Kanye always knows what he's doing, each and every time we doubted it, we were always proven wrong in masses. I dont doubt him anymore
See why Jay-Z. Said it hard anybody to do a verses with him
Eminem could easily
Still the best mashup I’ve ever heard
its not a mashup
A f@ckin masterpiece.
Actually read the lyrics before calling people ignorant please.
He raps about rocafella and actual diamonds as well.
Jump off the boat to walk on water! CLASSIC ❤
Difficult takes a week impossible takes a day
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
"Had to get off the boat, to walk on water" damn
no matter how difficult or impossible something is jay can get it done and get it done fast

Had to come back to this real quick and it's still fire
2019 keep it 💯 and LIKE
Intro gives me the chills
difficult takes a day impossible takes a week!!!!
When Jay spitted that part on his verse it simply went over my head mentally lol . I still don't know what he meant by " difficult takes a day , impossible takes a week!"
lol i recon he means theres no challenge he cannot over-come.
Thanks for the clarification pal. And people on this thread or video don't think Jay-Z is one of the best MC's/lyricist of all-time . Jay -Z put Kanye on to the rap game . There wouldn't be a Kanye without yours truly . Jiggaman
Yeah he is mega-talented, i think people compare people to much, kanye , nas ,Jay are all different but are all extremely talented
I like how how ye Convicts himself and just being straight up..like know this is bad but I'm tempted to rock jewels
While I love Jay Z. I felt his verse was not suited in this song. Kanye rapping about blood diamonds, Jay rapping about how successful he is.
That's all Jay ever raps about...
Kyle Smith i beg to differ... renegade
Shirley sounds great lol, cool to use an old Bond song as a background
