    I've been fielding two 5-man squads and am very pleased with them. They are the ultimate utility troops. They might cost more points but every time I play, these guys have been worth their points in gold.
    Zoning out deepstrikes with a unit that can take quite some punishment is superb and gives you options on how to deploy after you have seen the enemy army.
    They can screen your backfield, they can put pressure on armies that deploy backwards (Guard, Dark Eldar, Harlequins, etc.).
    One tactic is to set them up near the enemy and on your turn one advance them and then use their smoke grenades. This way you can zone out almost the entire field against T2 deepstrikes. Losing a few bolter shots on T1 is really not nearly as important as having ridiculous board control that is annoying to shift.
    This can also be combined with an Invictor warsuit that provides support against monsters while they provide the warsuit with anti-horde support and defense against deepstriking counter-units.
    Additionally, one can try to trap an enemy screening unit through clever play and this creates all sorts of problems for an opponent.
    However, I would not run more than 2-3 squads, because their actually rather low combat power. But in a game, it will give you many good options and these will serve you well.

    Helix Adepts are junior doctors, primaris apothecaries are registrars and regular marines are wizened consultants with retirement on the horizon. I reckon this makes the 41st millennium the modern NHS (though 40k possibly isn't that mental).

    Honestly, I find them an expensive troop, but a useful one. Think of it like this. How much does it cost to get a transport for Intercessors? With a difference of only 25 points between the two being able to plop a squad of Infiltrators on an objective turn 1 in cover and potentially start scoring that objective makes them more than worth it for maybe 2-3 msu squads. They don't really care what they shoot since they auto wound even toughness 8 on a 6 to hit, have effective 2+ armor saves in cover compared to a scout squads 3+ in cover, deny deep strike for wide sections of the board, can pop smoke to give the enemy a -1 to hit, and being troops they secure objectives against most armies speedier units.

      The argument of transport costs for intercessors and Infiltrators ability to have vanguard deployment is one of the better arguments I've heard for bringing Infiltrators and its one I hadn't really thought about.

    I still think intercessors are better for a two wound body, however I think this guys are a definitive counter against Raven Guard.
    Though I would run these still just because I really love their look. :3

      I think something like this will probably come one day. Maybe in another edition then oldmarines are ruled out (I know it will be extremely sad, but let's not kid ourselves, this will happen).

    I have a Black Templar squad, really fun to play, expecially deep striking them. I once slaughtered an entire 10 man squad of Reivers that were trying to flank my units and completely destroyed my friends plan

    How do feel about using them for black Templars units that I can use to set down 9" shoot then rush in. Do you feel they would be worth it?

    • @auspextactics
      @auspextactics  5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yep, shooting and rushing in makes complete sense, no reason not to do so with Templars and their charge buff.

    I hope these guys get some sort of buff to their weapons. Maybe another shot or giving them more weapon options? But i highly doubt this since their multipart set is already released but intessersors got some huge buffs to their guns so maybe they might get a buff of some sort. It would be nice just to give them another use for their rather steep price cost.

    • @Night1five
      @Night1five 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, GW FAQ'd the interaction of infiltrators and how Fist Chapter tactic would interact. The additional hit generated doesn't get the buff from the original 6 that created the extra hit. It's in the FAQ from SM in September

      Sorry, I try and cover the majority of the chapters in most unit reviews, but occasionally one slips by! Yes they're very good in RG due to being marines who can gain the -1 to hit in cover and synergise well with their early game infiltration shenanigans.
