Love the idea of the plastic wrap as well, have a 900 mile drive from NY to IL next month picking up our new to us Moomba . All the people who say don’t tow with cover on say it’s because the wear on the gel coat, this seems to be a great solution.
Great video. May want to also mention how often to service trailer bearings depending on grease vs oil bath and what to look out for. A failef bearing is one of the most common issues also, depending on your brake system, you should check the levels of your trailer brake fluid and pressure test it.
Omg so simple short and clear, great channel, so I have 2 questions on this video: 1. Love the cover on the Malibu with those ratchet cinchers are these available for other boats getting a Grady white Adventure 208, love the wrap, so where do you get the wrap? 2. Is the adjustable hitch available anywhere and if I have possible drive way slope issue, should I raise the hitch to keep the hitch higher than the ground when backing over it?
Most cities will have a shop that can make custom covers for you. I would call around a couple places and see what they can do for you. Adjustable hitches are also easy to find, just be careful how much you raise or lower it because that can cause issues with how the boat will tow. If you have to raise or lower a bunch to clear your driveway, I would drop the boat and reset the hitch to the right level before you tow it for any distance.
Love you're instructional videos! Really appreciate the tip about the plastic wrap. Quick question. What brand drop hitch is that? Looking for a new one good for hauling a big boat. Thanks!
Hi Joel! If I had to do it again, I would actually get this one: www.activewake.com/shop/boat-main/supra/accessories-supra/bw-trailer-hitch-tow-stow-3in-drop-3-5in-rise-2x2-5-16/ Mine is okay, but I should have paid a little more and gotten a better one!
What are your thoughts on tower up or tower down? Would you wrap the tower in plastic wrap? I’m taking a 21 g25 from CA to GA so just doing some brainstorming. Thanks for the content.
You can definitely wrap the tower in plastic wrap. It doesn't hold up as well as the wrap under the cover, but it will help prevent bugs! If you have a power tower that locks in the down position, you can tow with it down (I would recommend that especially if the cover goes over the tower), but this boat's tower doesn't lock down so it would just be bouncing around.
Hi Chantel....I'm taking ownership of my new boat next week. Chaparral 237 SSX. Your channel has been amazingly helpful to qualm my nerves. Question....I'm looking for a boat cover and would absolutely love to know what boat cover you used on this video? Also, is it good for California weather and moisture that may occur on rainy weeks etc....? Thanks for all of the help thus far. Best.
This cover was ordered from the factory with the boat and was made by Commercial Sewing. Not sure if they have an option for your specific boat, but could be worth looking into. Evolution Covers also makes custom covers that are really nice - I've had good luck working with Cory. Congrats on the new boat and thanks for watching!
Hi Chantel! Need a little advice. I have enough garage space for the 22LSV or 23LSV with the swim platform removed. First question, is the 23 worth the extra work of removing the swim platform every time we use the boat? Second, if I will be boating most of the time at 7,500 feet do you think I need the LT4? Thanks for the advice in advance!
Hey Mark! For the wake, the 22 and the 23 are VERY similar, the 23 is a little longer. If you don't need the extra space inside the boat on the 23, you would be totally happy with the 22. I think the M6 would do really well for you, especially in the 22LSV, but I would trust the dealer on that one - if they recommend the LT4 for the 23LSV, that's probably a good call. Congrats on the new boat!
I looooove my Tundra. It isn't as good with the really big boats, but it towed this 20VTX with no problem and when we had an Axis T22, it handled that well also.
Ha! Good catch. We actually didn't cover it for the first part of the trip because we didn't have any gear loose in the boat and the weather was going to be good. We filmed the video once we cleared the worst of the smoke and met up with the rest of our crew (and their stuff).
I'm not sure, but if I had to do it again, I would order one that is a bit more hefty. Here's a good option: www.activewake.com/shop/boat-main/supra/accessories-supra/bw-trailer-hitch-tow-stow-3in-drop-3-5in-rise-2x2-5-16/
This series is great, Chantel! Keep them coming. Never would have thought about the plastic wrap for an extended haul.

Home Depot!
You can get that stuff at any big box home center; super handy stuff 👍

Great job guys ! Love it 😍 I sell boats in Lake Havasu ,AZ and really thought you did great 👍
Hell yeah! What kind of boats are you selling??

Damn, you know you're serious when you protect your gel coat from your boat cover.
Other than the adjustable receiver hitch, did you do anything to the Tundra? Is it the 5.7 engine option?
Yep, I have a stock Tundra other than I added airbags in the back since I tow so much.
Hiya, can I ask one question? How do you determine the weight distribution is correct?
This one has a level on the front, but really you want it the fenders to sit level when it is hooked up to the truck.

@@ChantelBoats thanks for the advice!
How well does the tundra tow? I'm looking at a new truck and I'm considering the tundra. Thanks!!

Check out the Chevy/ GM 1500’s with the 3.0 L duramax. It’s getting good reviews and the gas mileage is light years better than any of the V8 models.
At 4:28 wile your on the road the cover is gone, did it blow away??
Ha! Good catch. We actually didn't cover it for the first part of the trip because we didn't have any gear loose in the boat and the weather was going to be good. We filmed the video once we cleared the worst of the smoke and met up with the rest of our crew (and their stuff).
what is the name of your adjustable hitch? Thanks

How about the wheel bearings?
Very good point.
Did you guys drive 20 hours non-stop or slept somewhere in the middle?
We stopped overnight and did it in two days
can you just go to Powell and launch the boat and go surf
Yes. You definitely can. You have to pass a pretty in-depth invasive species check when you pull out, but otherwise you can launch and go.
What size is your boat?
This is 20 feet, the Malibu 20VTX
20 hours! I thought 6 hours was long. 🫡
