Yes.....that's the kind of chord progression I like. One where the chord shape basically stays the same and you just move it up and down the fretboard. 😁
🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:38 🎸 The video features a guitar lesson for Pearl Jam's song played on a Boss Katana amp. 01:16 🎶 Boss created a free downloadable patch for the song, providing a light crunch effect for dynamic playing styles. 01:45 🎸 The main chord shape involves a D chord with the thumb over the F sharp, transitioning to different positions throughout the song. 03:02 🎸 The song's chorus features classic D, A, and G chords, with variations and additional notes for a richer sound. 04:01 🎵 Detailed fingerpicking technique demonstrated, emphasizing light touches for the provided patch's crunchy effect. 06:25 🎸 During the intro, there's a slide on the high strings, creating a unique sound before transitioning into the main riff. 08:11 🎸 The verse simplifies the chord progression, focusing on D, A, and G shapes, with subtle variations in finger positions. 10:42 🎸 The song's bridge features a distinct chord progression, emphasizing the G and D chords, building up the intensity. 12:42 🎸 The song maintains the same chord progression during intense sections, allowing for consistent rocking without changing the chord shapes. 14:16 🎸 The outro includes a longer G chord section, extending the final part of the song before ending the lesson. Could you do Lynyrd Skynyrd - I need you? You are the best guitar teacher I’ve ever used. I’ve learned more from you in a month than I learned from random people in a year. I find that sticking with one teacher makes things a lot easier. You’re the best
Marty, you make some excellent tutorials. I've learned multiple riffs & one entire song from you so far. I noticed that once you began instructing the chorus it felt rushed & i had a harder time trying to interpret & emulate. I noticed something similar in your part one of nothing else matters tutorial (towards the very end of that instructional video you just played the last part of the intro & didn't teach/instruct). The way you taught the intro to Better Man was perfect, you went slow & added one piece at a time and started over from the top each time something was added. In regard to the chorus for Better Man, the chord shapes were well explained but not the strumming pattern. I just would've appreciated if you played it in slow-mo like everything else previously in this video.
Hey Marty! Thanks a lot for your job, you are a truly genius teacher and guitarist. All of my respect goes to you from the cold land across the ocean. I've searched the whole TH-cam and I guess you are the last hope for me one some other fans to know how to play a song "For no one" by Houndmoth. Ould really appreciate if you break it down, it might be a cool thing to learn for newbies and intermediate guitarists.
I love the song you make it look so easy but it's hard for me, I was surprised that Eddie was such a good guitar player,I really love how the song starts. Ranman
One of my favorite Christmas songs is Christmas Eve / sarajevo by the trans Siberian Orchestra ....it would be amazing if you could teach the whole song or maybe in a couple parts but it would be perfect for you to start out the month of December with some amazing rock 😎
Hey Marty ! Love ur videos ! I follow u from France. Would be great to have a tutorial of All things must pass from George Harrisson, a good way to celebrate the 50th anniversary 😁
Sure wish I saw this video before I went and got a amp for my kid. It was a choice between the Marshall CODE 50 and the Katana Boss.. but I didn’t know enough about the Katana and the built in FX was confusing to switch around.. so the Marshall beat it out by easier to learn and a bit cheaper.. now that I’m looking into the amp and reading about it, it’s much more versatile than the Marshall and I think the sound quality beats it as well.
Marty you play it just like I do but I use my distortion pedal and turn the settings down just were the pedal breaks over when strummed hard...Great lesson again...Rock On 🎸 🤘
