    I think, at least for me, the reason we hesitate with the dynamic chess and are afraid to sac material for development is that we don't trust ourselves to follow through. I've certainly seen lots of developmental leads slip through my fingers...

      9:50 the Morphy principle
      I think a lot of people are very lazy with what they call "analysis" (myself included sometimes). Just seeing what the engine says is the top move, going "oh! okay, that makes some sense" and moving on without actually going through the computer's line.
      But more importantly, we all perceive through our current level of understanding. If a 1000 Elo "analyzes" a Paul Morphy game (even with the engine), they'll learn a few things from it but fail to see much of the reasoning behind his moves. That same player could analyze the game a few years later when they've reached 1600 and see a lot more in it.

    We need to learn fundamental openings from you coach! I have some of your Chessable Repertoires but would like to expand more, Sveshnikov and Nimzo Indian for Black as well, apart from your Slav and Jaenish, please consider offering these or other extra choices for ambitious club players or players with different opening choices which still are principled and fundamental

    Seeing Black play Bb4+ and then taking on d2 makes me super happy as a Catalan player. Of couse its playable, but there are so many more vicious ideas as you point out, c5 is very annoying to face going straight for the centre!

  • @nicoterradas
    @nicoterradas ปีที่แล้ว +3

    The big issue with the first games is that... what that Bb4+ and Bxd2+ says about the player with the Black pieces is how little he "understands" of chess. There are plenty of players like that, who study openings and know some of them pretty well actually, but underneath that chess foam there is utter ignorance about proper chess. 90% of viewers (and the player with Black here) will most certainly interpret this as "O.K., I did a bad move. One bad exchange." But actually, it's far worse than that. It's the profound lack of understanding about the needs of the position. Who in their right mind would exchange on move 3 or 4 the dark-squared Bishop and then proceed to play a "typical" Orthodox/Slav/Caro-Kann type of pawn structure with f7-e6-d5-c6-b7... That shows a pretty darn serious strategic and positional chess ignorance. So, it's not just about "Oops! I made ONE bad move. How unlucky of me." It's a structural issue in how that person learned the game.

    • @nicoterradas
      @nicoterradas ปีที่แล้ว +1

      For me, the key was reading (multiple times!) Hans Kmoch's "Pawn Power in Chess." A true masterpiece which would solve at least THIS issue with this player.

      Andras' explanation in the 2nd game, regarding that ugly Qd3 move, summarizes exactly the same point I made above. There's a basic problem with fundamental chess principles. Most people "think" they have learned and incorporated (...and some other deliriously think they have "mastered") the fundamentals. Yet, they haven't. "I forgot the theory...." (on that Nf3xe5) that says it all.

    Me as a beginner is very difficult to win when the advantage is just activity at the beginning, how to convert that position into a winning position is a huge transition…I mean I don’t agree with that too passive moves but sacrifices are too hard to evaluate.
    Develop and then look for a target 🎯

    Tbh I think there was like a 5min segment of this video that pays out the promise of the title and that much was buried in the 2nd game of three. This video is over 30min and it could almost have been a TH-cam short.
