This song reduces me to a ball of tears every time I hear it. I lived through the three assassinations in the '60s, and still consider the death of Bobby as the day hope died.
Powerful. I cry everytime.
I remember when this was released, after RFK's assassination. I had volunteered to work for Bobby's campaign, and the first time when I heard this played, I just broke down and sobbed. At the time, who would have thought that a traditional rocker like Dion could make a song like this?
I shook Bobby’s hand after watching him speak at a university when he was running to be president. This song brings back such memories. The Baby Boomers have lived through these tragedies when we were so young. We were so traumatized by this.
Makes u cry to loose such beautiful human beings 😢
Im6 68 and this song still makes me sob..
This sweet song made me sob as a child and still does, now that I’m a grandfather.
Many people may not Realize that Lincoln was Older than you think, he died at 54 Years old, much older than the others!
This song is no joke. When he gets to BOBBY ( robert kennedy) i always get a tear.
70 years old heard this song when I was very young it brings me tears and rips my heart out constantly I love it
The world NEEDS
I was in high school when this song came out, and I’m past seventy now. And it made me cry to hear it again.
This is one of the best things that I have seen on this platform they were good men they were about peace for all cultures bless God’s name
Sarah, I was born in 1961 and while Abraham was obviously long gone, his actions still ring true and I didn't get much of John but he also left his legacy. But I was old enough to watch Martin and Bobby, and I still cry from the memories when these men were killed. We do need men like them again but unfortunately, the integrity of these men are not present to today's politics and what a breath of fresh air they would be. That is a great song, thanks for playing it!
I played this 45 hundreds of times. I wish people would just stop Hating each other and realize we are more alike than different
Wow this song is so sad, loved it then and love it today.
I was so surprised when I found out it was Dion singing this beautiful song..hIs pop-idol days were over--he showed the music industry he was more than capable of putting out seriuos music. 4:54..If only today's politicians had an iota of the moral dignity and bravery these men had, the world would not be as messed up.
Oh my, I wasn't prepared for this one. I lived through the various stages of the civil rights mivements, and i always thought the prejudices and surpressions were tragic! It seems that contemporary music lacks the vital message content that was central during the 1960s and forward.
Thank you Sarah, this was a landmark reaction and your emotion was genuine and touching ❤💖😇🥰
Amen I agree 💯 and yes they were men who cared about us all. I cry for all of us.
Saddest and most telling song of the Age. Always brings tears.
All were my heroes. I'm of that generation, by the time Bobby Kennedy was shot, it was like he was our last hope, his death cut deep, like someone said the best presisdent we never had.
Young lady this was a blessing for me remembering these three men thank you
I have loved this song for so long. My favorite cover is by Moms Mabley. If you havent it please look it up. The emotion she puts in it is fantastic.
CHILLS! ❤
RIP Four beautiful souls were assassinated and mentioned in this beautiful song by the great singer Dion. I lived to remember three of the four. Dion also has some other big hits that you might want to react to which are light hearted. The Wanderer, A Teenager In Love, Runaround Sue, Dream Lover and many more.
Beautiful song, beautiful reaction. Thank you. The early-stage dystopia we're experiencing now is the result of evil bad people killing these four great men.
Such a beautiful song about great men. Your reaction and talk was beautiful.
I loved this song ever since I was 6 and it came out. I was just a toddler when JFK was killed but remember RFKs funeral on tv. I always thought the Kennedy brothers would have changed the world had they lived.
Bought the 45 single in 1968 at age 12. It's a hard listen losing Martin and Bobby and the Kent State 4 being killed two years later back then. thank you
Many People don't realize that Lincoln was older than you think, when he died he was 54 years old!
We have a direct descendant from 2 of those men running for President.
Written by rock performer Dick Holler in response to the 1968 assassinations of Martin Luther King, Jr. and Robert Kennedy. I think I first heard Marvin Gaye's version. A truly moving tribute.
😗😙😊studio version is the best version of this song, thanks 😊😎
A song that warms the soul....
Good ole USA. Where the greats ‘die’ young & the corrupt of old age. 😢
Also Lincoln was tragically a great loss 4/15 1865 Heartbreak
It appears with all that’s going on in this world, their memory is being buried. I’ve heard this song for years, now it really makes me sad
Abraham, Martin, John and (his brother) Robert. I remember as a child and in my youth when three of those losses took place and it was so sad and scary.
A real great song Abraham Lincoln John Kennedy Martin Luther King and Bobby Kennedy they were all was assassinated
And if I remember right they were all shot by democrats, of Abraham Lincoln, for freeing the slaves, and other good things he did, that democrats then hated. Shot Martin for speaking against about segregation instead tried to unite the country once again since years then, and last but not least shot john Kennedy for being a president who cared for his country/ people. And now democrats are alot worse.
We have a choice to make in 2024, for this same America.
Beautiful song 😢
I've always wondered...there's more of us than them why can't we change things???
It’s called apathy. So much taken for granted. So much to lose. The question is, will we wake up in time?
My girlfriend and I went to the railroad tracks to say goodbye to Bobby. When the funeral train came through, there was complete silence. On ly the singing of the birds.
I love this song. Kudos to @Strider Raven.
If you notice, they say John twice, one for Sr & one for Jr.
Some people are quite ignorant. I heard this song decades ago. People need to move away from their shallow enclosure, there's a whole different world out there
They all died tragically, but their main message was this, do the best you can when the situation presents itself. It may or may not like by some. If you do that, their deaths are not in vain. I am almost 65.
How much better the world could have been if they lived instead. Nov 22/63, Apr 4/68; and June6/68; Days that will live in INFAMY. Heartbreak Heartbreak Heartbreak even now.
Great Song, but wasn't there the same song with Children answering questions!
❤💯🙂
Sarah, we need you to react Starlight by Oktaf Kanis, thank you 🙌🏻❤
The world has received millions of Abraham, Martins and Johns...and even Elijahs and Moses...but some woman decided (or was told) to abort him.
Yeah, I said it!!!
And to think we have now have a political party that think this song and the men described are WOKE. The GOP are not fit to clean these great men's shoes.
If you want to hear an emotion filled version of this song? Listen to Moms Mabley's cover of this. It's amazing
@@hevydavy not mine, to me this is the best version-and it's not even close really.
JESUS DIED IN HIS THIRTIES AND DEFEATED DEATH WHEN HE ROSE AGAIN THE THIRD DAY. GLORY TO GOD.
Robert Kennedy Jr has the spirit of his father and uncle. I am so thankful to hear him speak of hope and unity.
One of my fav sweetie been more involved with politics lately so haven't done a lot of songs but will be sharing this for ya it's such a banner for today they could add Pres. Trump praying thou he doesn't join these 3
Actually it was four mentioned in the song. Bobbie Kennedy was assassinated as well. RFK Jr is now looking for running in the presidential election who is the son of Bobbie/Robert. The one and only sane Democrat left who I fear for him as well because he is exposing the very ones who assassinated his father, and uncle, which are mentioned here.
Makes the outcasting of young Bobby today so infuriating.
Bobby Kennedy, walking up over the hill with Abraham, Martin and John. ... Bobby's son, RFK Junior is running for President. The Democrat Party has shut him out. Like they did Tulsi Gabbard Last time. So RFK Jr. is running as an Independent. He is a tough and intelligent Man. And the Democrats would rather have "Joe" What are they? Nutz ?!!
From the standpoint of a ‘baby boomer’ I’ve become so disillusioned by the rank corruption from both parties. I’m voting for RFK Jr in November.
Anyone who would think that Trump would make a great president are NUTS!!!
I would place Biden beside those three, I DEFINITELY wouldn't with either Robert Kennedy or Trump!
I wonder if anyone will write a song like this about Donald Trump?
YOU NEED TO DO MORE RESEARCH ON LINCOLN HE WASNT SO GOOD SORRY.
This song has been around 55 years. And yes I'm old enough to remember when it came out. I'm 67 years old & this song still makes my eyes fill with tears.
I'm 61 and remember it well, it always made me cry too. I'd forgotten it until this beautiful reminder by Sarah.
Same here. I was 8 when it came out (I"m 63 now). always brings tears to my eyes. 1968 was a horrific year.
