    You need 2.4 amp minimum on the wall adapter. It does apparently say on the box somewhere but, obviously, in Japanese.

    Thanks for showing the Mayflash USB SPro Adaptor working to use other USB controllers. I tried other USB controllers on my unit and it didn’t work. Could you explain what exactly the adaptor is and how it works (just in case I can’t find the exact mayflash item seen in your video)?

    • @xaytana
      @xaytana 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The Mayflash Magic sticks just translate the input API of the device, the controller, to the input API of the host, the console. For example, you can use a PS3 controller, which uses Dinput API, on an Xbox One or 'natively' with a PC because the stick can output the Xinput API. It also has support for the various mini consoles, Switch, PS4, PS5, etc. Based on the video, unless the brightness of the LED is really blowing out the colors on the camera, it looks either cyan, the PS Classic input, or white, the Sega/NeoGeo minis inputs, which is also why not all adapters will work if they don't support; I also believe some of Mayflash's own products may not support this, I know the Magic S Pro 1 after a specific update dropped PS Classic support, and full documentation isn't always the easiest to find. Why this arcade console would be using either of those inputs, I'm not really sure, I would've expected Dinput or Xinput as those are the two common standards.

      @@xaytana Thanks so much for the reply! I really do appreciate it!
      To tell you the truth I’ve been scouring the net for documentation or videos showing 3rd party arcade sticks working with the Taito Egret II mini, but I have found close to nothing showing 8bitdo’s line of arcade sticks working with them (which is surprising, since 8bitdo’s arcade sticks usually work with everything).
      I’ve had no luck using my 8bitdo arcade sticks with the Mayflash Magic-NS, working with my Taito Egret II mini. I really wish it did, as I love the sticks, and it would’ve absolutely completed the arcade experience for me.
      Any help would be most appreciated. 😊 🙏

      @@francochan Use the arcade sticks wired, and put the Magic-NS in either PS Classic mode, cyan, or NeoGeo mode, yellow. Colors on the NS sticks are different from those on other products, consistency really isn't Mayflash's best quality.
      For the FC30: Press and hold Home for 3 seconds. The blue LED will blink rapidly. Then connect via USB.
      For the N30: Press and hold Y and Start for Switch mode, or X and Start for Windows mode. The LED will blink four times per cycle in Switch mode, or two times per cycle in Windows mode. Then connect via USB.
      For the Arcade Stick: Turn the mode switch to S for Switch mode, or X for X-input mode. Then connect via USB.
      If neither of the input modes suggested work, just cycle through the other modes until you find one that does work; this may also require unplugging after switching modes, unplug the stick and unplug the controller, plug the stick back in then plug the controller into it, some hardware can be finnicky about devices. I only guessed based on what was shown in the video, as I said it is entirely possible the brightness of the LED blew out the color accuracy of the camera.
      Wireless pairing between Magic sticks and 8bitdo devices is known to be problematic, as 8bitdo controllers like to auto-pair, and the Magic Sticks can be finnicky when wirelessly pairing anyways. It's always recommended to test devices plugged in anyways. The 8bitdo devices are also officially untested on at least the Magic-NS, so there's no guarantee that they'll work anyways. This arcade console is also an untested device, though seems to at least work with a S Pro and an Xbox 360 controller.
      If your Magic-NS doesn't have the NeoGeo mode, you need to update the stick's firmware. It's recommended to keep the firmware up to date anyways as they're continuing to add devices and are providing bugfixes.
      Some combination of all of this should, in theory, work. All three models of 8bitdo sticks support Xinput, and two support Switch input. The Magic NS supports both of these inputs, and should have an output that works with the Egret 2 based on what's demonstrated in the video. And as far as I know there's no disparity between the NS and S Pro in controller and system support for what's relevant here. There's really no logical reason why some combination of what's available won't work.
      This is basic troubleshooting, it's tedious but something should work in the end.

      @@xaytana I appreciate your very detailed troubleshoot recommendations.
      So to bring you up to speed, on all my tests, for some reason I cannot long-press and change modes on the Magic NS while it’s plugged into the Taito Egret II mini. The LEDs don’t turn on.* At first I thought I had a broken stick, but I bought two sticks, and both didn’t have working LEDs, and surely I didn’t buy two broken sticks. So I plugged the sticks into my MacBook, and the LEDs switched on both sticks just fine. So at that time, since I got them running, I logged onto mayflash support, and updated the firmware to the latest build, just in case it was a firmware issue.
      After I had done that, I tried to cycle through the Magic NS modes with every color while plugged into my MacBook, then while in each color mode, I would unplug the stick from my MacBook, plug it into the Taito Egret II mini, then plug the 8bitdo N30 arcade stick into it. And still no success. I did the same with the newer 8bitdo Arcade stick, and had the same result. And to cover all bases, I tried both of my Magic NS sticks and both arcade sticks, using both USB ports on the Taito Egret II mini.
      One thing to note, is that while I had the arcade sticks connected into the Magic NS stick and into the Taito Egret II mini, despite it not responding to button or directional inputs, I have had the LED lights glow green on the arcade sticks (showing a sort of “recognized” state).
      Could the Taito Egret II mini perhaps require a firmware update…? At the time of all my tests, both Magic NS sticks were firmware-updated, and both arcade sticks were firmware-updated.
      I reached out to 8bitdo support to ask if they could just straight up test the Taito Egret II mini and get their sticks working with them without need for USB stick adaptors. Not holding my breath for any update from them, but it was worth a shot.
      I hope the above helps draw a clearer picture of my scenario for you. Again, I wasn’t expecting to receive this level of assistance from anyone, so please accept my sincerest thanks for your patience in helping me out.
      --
      * If the LEDs on the Magic NS sticks don’t turn on while plugged into the Taito Egret II mini… could it be that they aren’t being fed enough power? I’m using a proper USB adaptor for the Taito Egret II mini’s power needs (my adaptor specs: 2.4A / 12W / 5V).

    • @xaytana
      @xaytana 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@francochan Lack of LED activity on the Mayflash sticks would indicate a port issue on the Egret 2.
      If your power adapter isn't of the USB PD standard, try one that is, this is really the only way to troubleshoot the idea of the power adapter is at fault. I have a feeling that the machine is using the PD spec and mixing various non-PD 'fast charge' standards could end up becoming problematic, like how fast charge issues used to be before devices became standard-agnostic when every company had their own implementation and before PD became the universal standard, though I have yet to see this tested.
      You could see if there is any firmware updates for the Egret 2, but I have no idea if there is.
      If this doesn't work, you just have nonfunctional ports on the Egret 2. I would assume on data pins since the Mayflash sticks don't want to work while the arcade sticks seem to be getting power. There's also the possibility that the USB ports are entirely dead, i.e. no power passthrough, and the arcade sticks themselves are running off their battery source. You might want to contact Taito support, assuming they do have any support. This is more than likely the issue, unfortunately.

    Taito doesn't make Centerpeed and Crystal Castle. Atari does. This they will never come officially to the Taito Egret Mini.

      Unfortunately, that’s not always how getting cheap stuff works. What also needs to happen is for many to sell, and some sellers to not like it, and instead offload it for cheap on eBay when they get tired of it.
      Many times, buyers sell these emulator machines when they attempt to jailbreak and hack it, but fail. LOL
