I think you might have meant the seleucid empire, not the Sassanid. since that was the empire that emerged after the death of Alexander and they controlled that region. What’s interesting tho is that the kingdoms of Armenia, Albania and Iberia were constantly were constantly being meddled with by Rome and Persia in a similar fashion to Soviet US political interventions in the 20th century. The Byzantines and Sassanian both used religion as like a big political issue and invested a lot in spreading their faiths in the region which explains why it’s so diverse.
