I am watching this for the 5th time and having a blast. How wonderful! I was fortunate enough to grow up in a family where classical music was a part of daily life, and I am enjoying this truly! Thanks for posting! :-)
Brava bravissima. Corbelli a delight as always, Spagnoli fabulous, he can scrub my back any time!!!! Interesting staging, would have loved to see it in its entirety.
Soy de Guatemala, oriental, Jutiapa... Dónde hay mucho descendientes italianos... Y me encanta la opera... Más este espectacular barítono... Pietro spagnoly.... Es increíble.... Es el mejor!
I normally can't stand this fuckin' modern productions/stagings ... BUT these two gorgeous guys (which are personel friends as well) create an absolute exception ... they could do their acting show everywere - even without stage :-) And both have stunning voices too ... I JUST LOVE IT!
That production is still played in Wroclaw Opera House, Poland. The point of this production is that it's very classical, just with modern set decoration and costumes.
Signor Corbelli has a great sense of humour; I'm sure he enjoyed the ridiculousness of this production as much as anyone. He's also a good personal friend to Pietro Spagnoli, I bet they had a blast doing all this together.
This reminds me how good singers like Renato Capecchi and Paolo Montarsolo were in the Abbado recording. Seriously, the Don Magnifico role belongs to Paolo Montarsolo really. Rossini said to Adelina Patti after she sang her aria from the Barber of Seviia for him: "Delightful, but what was it?". I suppose he could say it after this, too. What were the director's intentions? Two man sitting on garden chairs in a bathhouse or a brothel. I suppose it should mean something.
Questa messa in scena è semplicemente fantastica. Ne ho già visti alcuni qui su youtube. È effettivamente disponibile come registrazione completa su DVD o blueray nei negozi? Purtroppo non li trovo da nessuna parte. 😧
corbelli nothing to say , a genius! the other one.. very nice voice for dandini... i think he must work better on the agility because would became one of the few good dandini. but globally 9/10 !
@911jp Yes we have an mental idea, "image" of what the set, decor and style should be... but Opera really is about the total package, and why not make them current? Saying that though, I have YET to see a "modern" production that was actually "current," or looked like anything of the modern world. This production is so stylized as to be absurd. Regarding Spagnoli though, I think he was the very reason the term "BariHunk" was coined, woof woof!
Eccezionali i cantanti... Ma queste trasposizioni in chiave modernista sono frutto della mente malata di qualche regista comunista/progressista che, per fortuna, non ha potuto storpiare la musica del sempre geniale Rossini
I think they're the best both as singers and actors! I've been watching the dozens of times! Wonderful.
Sto ridendo a crepapelle! sono buffissimi tutti e due, oltre ad essere artisti strepitosi! Che meraviglia!
J adore

This is one of the best comments on any video. Ever.
Non ho parole...sembra piu comico di quello che è stato scritto da Rossini Grande Corbelliiiiiiiiiii
Very cool! Is this a dvd-Production? who conducts here?
It sounds so much like "Il barbiere di Siviglia" xD One can clearly tell that it is from Rossini.

Tell me please, from what opera is this duo?
"Fafafafafa far la barba.."
Magnifici cantanti. Regia di merda!
Who's the conductor??? Speedy Gonzalez??? :-(
Evelino Pido
