The 4 C's represent the universal criteria for assessing a diamond's quality and value: Carat (weight), Clarity, Color and Cut. When mastered, these elements enable you to make an informed choice and acquire a jewel of exceptional quality.
- Carat (Diamond weight)
The carat is the measure of a diamond's weight. One carat is equivalent to 0.2 grams, but don't let that be your only guide. A diamond's weight can affect its price, but its brilliance and overall appearance also depend on the quality of the other C's.
- Clarity
This element refers to a diamond's purity. Every stone has its natural imperfections, called inclusions, but their size and position influence the diamond's appearance to the naked eye. A diamond of exceptional purity will always be rarer and more precious.
- Color
Diamonds may appear colorless, but most actually have subtle nuances. Color is graded on a scale from D to Z, where D is a perfectly colorless diamond. The lighter the stone, the higher its value.
- Cut
Cut is perhaps the most important criterion, as it determines the brilliance of the diamond. A perfect cut reflects light optimally, giving the diamond its inimitable brilliance. Whether round, oval or emerald, the cut reveals a diamond's hidden beauty.
How to choose the right diamond ?
Whether you're buying an engagement ring, a financial investment or a passion purchase, we advise you not to focus on just one of the 4 C's, but to seek a balance between them to obtain a harmonious stone. For example, a diamond with a very good cut and average color may be more brilliant than a large but poorly cut diamond. Choosing a diamond is above all a question of “feeling”.
