Dolly is now 77 years old. She has written over 4000 songs. Nominated for 53 grammys. Has won 10. Sold over 160 million albums. She is the only artist in history to be inducted into the Country, Songwriters, Gospel, and now Rock and Roll Hall of Fames! This is a rabbit hole that you cannot go wrong with!!!! I cant wait to see you react to more Dolly!!

@@gabrielm925Ghetto Superstar is not a rap song....lol. But you are correct. It was sampled from their duet, "Islands In The Stream". Which was written by the Bee Gees.

Dolly is a recording artist, songwriter, actor, & massively generous philanthropist! She wrote this song & "Jolene" on the same day! Yes, Whitney's version is a power house ballad which I love but I've always preferred Dolly's version. A sweet, gentle, heartfelt "good-bye" song she wrote for a friend, not a lover. So this song could be for anyone special in your life, it doesn't have to be a romantic partner. In Dolly's case, she was saying good-bye to a mentor & business partner. She started out on a TV program called the Porter Wagoner show. She even recorded songs & toured with him as well. She wrote this song for Porter as a way to say good-bye when she left his show to be a solo artist, like Patsy Cline & Loretta Lynn. She is a master story teller & has composed over 5000 songs over the span of her life (some were recorded by her, some were given to other singers, & many never were released to the public). My dad (age 87) is a life long fan of Dolly's, so I was lucky to grow up with most of her music. My favorites from Dolly are "Coat of Many Colors", "Me and Little Andy", "Jolene", "9 to 5" and her duet with Kenny Rogers "Islands in the Stream" (written by The Gee Gees).
Dolly is a living legend & a national treasure - this is a deep rabbit hole to explore as she has a vast library of music.
I almost forgot - she was recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. She tried to turn down the nomination as she's always thought of herself as a country music star. But they included her anyway. So to fix that, she is now recording her very first ROCK album. She just finished recording a song with Stevie Nicks (of Fleetwood Mac) & she's talking with other artists to appear on her album (Pat Benatar, Debbie Harry, Paul McCartney, Elton John, Steve Perry, & Pink just to name a few...)

She loved Whitney's version. Elvis wanted to sing it too, but he insisted on owning it. Dolly said no, thank you. She is a very good businesswoman. Idk how many songs she wrote, but it's a ton!

according to many sources, Dolly has composed over 5000 songs... so far... She's still writing & recording. She's now doing her first ROCK album & teaming up with other living legends (Stevie Nicks, Pat Benatar, Debbie Harry, Elton John, etc).

She used to be on the 'Porter Wagner show' & when her 5 year contract expired, she wanted to leave & go solo. Porter was upset & kept bugging her to stay. She finally said you are not listening & went home & wrote this song. Came back & said sit down & listen to how I feel. Great story behind the song. She loves to tease that Whitney made her rich. Dolly is literally the richest country singer in the world, male or female. She has written thousands of songs & over 450 recorded, by her & many other artists. I love hearing her sing this one now. It's still sweet like this, but more polished. It is also on TH-cam. It's a live performance too & she is wearing leather.

You should take a look at the whole clip of this. Before Dolly starts singing, Porter Wagoner gives her a little introduction then Dolly sings this song, then Porter says to Dolly that it felt like she really meant what she just sang and Dolly reply’s that she does. The whole clip was taken from „The Porter Wagoner Show“. She also sings it to Burt Reynolds in the musical comedy movie „The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas“. Dolly really shows off her fashion sense in that movie. Check it out. Cheers

Welcome to the real world man. Welcome to the world. Yes Dolly Parton was the person who wrote and sung "I will always love you" along with another one of her songs that's called "Jolene" in 1973 to her very close business partner Porter Wagoner on his tv show. She was at the time twenty seven years old. She told Porter that she would stay on the show gor anout five years and then she was going to go on her own and do her thing which she did. Sure they argued with each other time to time like cats and dogs especially when he knew way deep down inside that she meant business. She was a lady of her word. The last yime on the show she sang this song to Porter and needless to say left him in tears. But anyway Dolly has written well over three thousand songs, have received all kinds of Grammy Awards and Oscars and also Life Achievement Awards. Besides her beautiful angelic voice that she has neen nlessed with, Folly can play about five or six musical instruments very, very well. Dolly also has a net worth gross of about 650 million dollars and of course she is a Hall of Famer in Country Music. This and a whole lot more she is doing to this day and of vourse is referred yo as "The Queen of Country Music. She has helped the poor and all kinds of people everywhere. Vould you please play a song for me that Dolly not only wrote but samg it awhile back called, "Me and Little Andy " I really would appreciate it very much as well as your opinion Sir. I would like to know what you think about this song that is if anything at all. Once again thank you so much. And oh yea' when Dolly wrote and sang "I will always Love You", well let's just say that Whitney Houston was born August 9,1963. Ok? PS: Have a Blessed Evening. Adios.

The money Dolly made from the Whitney Houston version actually went to Charities helping the black communities. Dolly is very big in giving back to 2 communities whether it's the communities where she grew up or just communities around the world who need help. One of the Charities that Dolly Parton runs it's called Imagination Library and it is to help combat illiteracy in kids because the fact that her father when she was growing up could not read. So to stop that from happening to more people she wants to get kids into reading to combat illiteracy in the world.
