This is possibly the biggest deal for India after the software boom. I recall my childhood in South India when millets(at least 9 varieties) being
the staple of the veg diet. Make India the hub of veg culture which can save the environment.

Millets can grow with less water unlike rice . Millets is also a health food. India must start planting millets because its water resources are limited.

I always opt for Millet Biscuits, Millet Rusk, Millet Chips.. Very Healthy option, Millet is called Super Food. Here in Karnataka, We make Balls out of Millet Flour and eat them with Ghee, Dal or Lentil Curry.
Its a Staple food of Karnatka People in Villages, Eating these made the Older Genration strong and Live a Long Life. My Great Grandma and Grandpa ate this kind of Food and lived to 95 ~ 99. They used to go walking at Age of 92. Current Generation eats only Junk Food and Oily Food, Whcih is why we get Cancers and die early at 50s..

Not just wheat and it is rice as well. South of India states are major consumer of rice. Even the north east states are.

Sad, there is NO comment why Millets agricultural production hasn't Succeeded as Rice and wheat ..
    Simple .
Productivity of Millets is Low . Though Govt of India spends money in new seeds research and agri practices , it failed to improve productivity.
So farmers don't get enough profits .
Also millets are hard to digest .
So Govt needs to do a lot lot more to become successful.
    They are doing .

Bro come to Rajasthan villages , I'm a marwadi and in my village , everybody eats roti of bajra , although we also eat roti of wheat but most of village people eat bajra roti especially elderly people and they have live upto their 90s , so things about being hard to digest , it's just a rumour that you are spreading , maybe you have a digestion problem or weak digestion , so don't speak on everyone's behalf . Just come to Rajasthan and visit marwar region's villages and even in urban cities many people eat bajra roti , do bro don't showcase the knowledge without gaining a practical experience and finding about it .

And let me tell you one more thing , bajra is a lot easier to grow than wheat , wheat consumes so much water and bajra and other millets Don't have such big requirements , they can grow much easily.

Rice and wheat cultivation needs lakhs of water. In few years we will not have water. So, we have to shift to diet based less water irrigated crops.

As long as they remain small farmer produce, without major commercialization, without chemical manure, meddling with varieties, increased growth yield, mutations it's fine. Once we have these scientific research development with grains for enrichment, the human consumer will get his share of its actions in the form of health problems.

Just read on google millet is good in moderation but not recommended for hyperthyroidism. Also quinoa is higher in protein compared to millet.
