Last week fishing for perch, and a pike grabbed my best fish at the net, same with a good chub a few weeks back. Towed round for ages on 4 lb line, a size 12 hook and 1 lb tc rod. Fortunately lip hooked outside the toothy area, another double. I've also gone to circle hooks the last two seasons, like you I avoid big baits, too many dropped or pulled out of. Gone back to floats this year after experiment with ledgering only. All the best, and one fish is not a blank!

It may only be a jack, but it's a pike on the bank nonetheless and a nice one too. I've yet to try circle hooks as I have been using size 4 wide gape carp hooks also hooked through the snout, but the opposite way, that is, with the point poking out between the eyes. Good luck for the rest of the season. I shall be watching with interest.
At the moment I'm using AFW and Drennan soft trace, I made a video a while back making your own traces th-cam.com/video/ZsSszgG3EHo/w-d-xo.html But have stopped using trebles. I'll include a segment on my circle hook traces using knottable wire in the next video

I use Carp hooks for Perch, never had an issue when a rogue pike was hooked
Hi. Just wondering why you use a 2oz ball lead on such a shallow water. Would just a couple of swan shot be adequate? Genuine question 👍
Because I don't want to get caught off guard when they run it off, especially as it can happen several times in one day
