Be patient with the ports sometimes it’s longer the usual wait time. Try to get to the ports about 30mins to a hour before your appointment because some terminals you have a line to get in. And ask for help from other truckers at the ports if you need help finding your spot or chasiss

What’s up Ryda, I’ve been a Longshoreman since 1998, ILWU Local 13 Ports of LA/LB. I’m a crane operator on the dayside. I’d like to shed some light on subject of our “lunch hour” since you’re putting people up on game in this video. #1. Lunch is 12-1pm. Longshoremen, clerks and Foremen are at risk/liable for themselves (terminals DO NOT COVER LIABILITY) should they get into an accident on the terminals during the lunch hour. #2. Between 11:45 and 12, is our clean up time to get from our work areas back to the break room/gate/turnstile. #3. At 1pm. Roll call and a brief safety speech is given, then back to our designated work areas. Some terminals are bigger than others, which is why sometimes it takes til 1:30pm for some cranes to get up and running. #4. As far as working through the lunch hour, or having someone else “take over” during lunch, terminal operators will not do this and have not done this in the 25 years that I’ve been on these docks. I like your videos and content, ML&R, keep on trucking! 👊💯

What’s up fam thanks for the insight. No one really explains to the drivers the process of lunch and shift change. Thanks for this information it’s helpful. Do you know when the ports will be open 24/7? Also do you know when work will pick back up and get normal at the ports? I know in March that’s when things get back on track for drivers at the ports and the throughout the trucking industry.
