I remember having that exact set when I was a kid. My brother and I got it for Christmas circa 1979. Brings back a lot of memories, thanks for posting the video.

always had more fun using the older stuff.
I remember this trainmotor and how fast it drained the batteries....

i have many 9 volt and 12 volt sets. and any olds trains:
126, 7720, but my only favorite is the 7750 & 7740 =)

I tought about 2 things while watching this vid: 1) that train drives pretty fast to be that old ;) and 2) @Madaboutlego, you must have 1000's of lego pieces
I have kit 182 as well, but the tin strip at the bottom of the tender car which pushes the battery upward to make contact is broken. I have a lot of extra blue rails though.

No not with the 4.5 volt but at the end of vid with power functions you can.

@simsy72 It has its own batteries so should fit as think all track is the same size

My faveroite 4.5 volt train is 133. It's just so unique; I don't think the peice which is on the wheel which has the rod on I think was only in that set. If on came up on Ebay complete I would definately by it. I have been with 4.5 volt trains for as long as I can remember (I'm 12 now)

I watched this ages ago - I don't remember you animating the coaches. The stickers on the them don't look to good but I suppose their doing well to be stilll atached.

where did you get the blue curved rails they look like right angle blanks and I have never seen them curved like that.

My dad haves a very similar set, number 181. It includes a locomotive, three carriages, rails and a sign. The 4.5 Volt motor is broken so I can only play by the hand with it. Now I'm hoping the same doesn't happen to my red passenger train! I've also coupled the blue and gray rails so now I've got a huge railroad. How many meters is yours(every kind like blue, 9 Volt and regular Power Functions/RC rails) network?
A lot more since this was taken, must do a vid with it all.

thanx for reply, I never opened one. do u think opening and replacing with a same type motor could help? I think there are some geraring with some type of lithium grease and could be dried. clean and put new grease could help? strane thing it has good torque if I try to stop the wheels with fingers
Yes a good idea and if no better try Ebay or Bricklink for a new motor unit.
