    What was not mentioned in this segment was that about 73% of workers in the agricultural sector are immigrants, legal and illegal. All together, the food and agriculture sector is a $1.053 trillion industry. The economic damage was mentioned but when you look at the figures for the agriculture sector alone the damage would be catastrophic for American farms and the production of food.
    There are 1.6 million immigrants who are working in construction and depending on the state that could be anywhere from 20% to 70% of the workforce. The US has a serious housing shortage and it can't afford to deport millions of immigrants who make up every job from laborers to experienced carpenters, drywall installers, painters, roofers, bricklayers and every other trade that is needed to build housing.
    I don't think the American people, whether they support Trump or not, are aware of the economic downturn that a mass deportation would create on top of the cost of doing it.Then add Trump's 200% tariffs on China and and then there are the 20 to 50% tariffs on every other nation the US trades with, and it's clear that 4 years of a Trump presidency will cause a huge economic downturn.

      It is like when Trump banned imports from China followed by China banning US imports and then the US government having to subsidize farmers for the loss in business.

      I do not understand the USA. Why would a country not maintain its borders? What is even more concerning why are US citizens tolerating it. It's obvious the Biden Administration allowed the influx to accelerate. It is an intentional act by the US Govt. So the Americans can't pick crops, or build homes without migrants? Is that what we are to suppose to accept as a reason. I'll call it what it really is. Glorified Slavery. If the US can't pick its own crops or its construction that's a defect in US Society. No country with any pride in itself would allow its borders to be completely unstable.

    60 minutes had a good segment on the subject Sunday. Ice is currently finding the people who are illegal immigrants and have criminal records. The cost is approximately 80000 per person to find them and arrest them and process them and transportation out of the country. That's why Ice only concentrates on criminals. Local law enforcement does not have the training and there are language barriers to overcome. Deporting those who have been here for a decade and are working and paying taxes would be wrong and not reasonable

    • @MarcosElMalo2
      @MarcosElMalo2 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      What border crossing to you plan to use?
      Here’s the thing about “medical tourism” and bringing your own car. If the entire point is to save money, consider that you’ll be required to buy extra insurance to drive in Mexico. Your normal car insurance won’t cover it. Consider that you’ll have to pay for a temporary permit for your car. These costs will eat into whatever you hope to save by using the lower cost medical services.
      However, if you are planning on combining your medical tourism with conventional tourism, it might be worth it. That said, the Mexican border cities are the dangerous ones and are (imho) of limited tourist interest.
      If you are in California or Arizona and just want to take a vacation, here’s a hot tip: Cross Border Express. It’s just to the East of San Diego. It’s a special border crossing for the Tijuana airport. Once you are in the Tijuana airport, flying to various Mexican cities is a domestic flight-much cheaper than flying from a U.S. airport if you use one of the low cost Mexican airlines like Volaris. Once you are at your destination in Mexico, use taxis or Uber for local travel and use Executive Class or First Class buses to travel between cities rather than renting a car. The Executive Class buses like ETN are pretty nice, and First Class buses like Omni aren’t bad.
      I travel from L.A. to San Diego on the Amtrak Coastliner, then take either a shuttle or an Uber to CBX. At CBX, I cross the border, go through Mexican customs and immigration, and then fly to my destination. I generally wait for Volaris to have a sale. I’ve paid as little as $70 each way, flying from Tijuana to the Leon airport.

This was nefarious - like you’d think since this cruelty is their number one policy, they’d have a cost… but no…
      Some people think they’d never deport the people, but put them in camps and either kill them (which costs much less) or make them labor slaves (cause they are “vermin, not people” per trump). Or a combination of the two.

    They didn't even talk about mundane stuff like food. No one would be processed in one day, if for no other reason than the need to move them through staging areas in multiple locations/states and work out the paperwork with the many countries of origin to which they would later be deported. If every person took just three days to go from rounded up to fully deported, that is nine meals. If each meal cost only $10, that's $90. $90 x 13,000,000 is almost $1.2 billion. And many folks will have to be housed/processed for days. Some may sit for weeks while we work out the logistics of getting them back to their countries of origin around the world. Just feeding these folks would add many extra billions to the price tag. Where would we get the money for that? Everyone's taxes would have to go up to cover it. We don't even have the willpower to increase our taxes a fraction of that to shore up Social Security and Medicare for American seniors. Who thinks we would pay all those billions in extra taxes to cover just the meals of the people processed for deportation? And those meals would be one of the least expensive parts of the process.

    None of Trump's policy ideas are proving to be viable initiatives when examined and assessed for their cost effectiveness. Trump's immigration/deportation plan for eg. would, due to the huge numbers of people and logistics involved, be a far more difficult, costly and complex operation than has ever been attempted previously. It would create many unforeseen problems which would substantially add to overall costs, as well as contribute to a much longer timeline for completion of the whole operation, than that which Trump has envisioned. It would, unfortunately but inevitably, involve many minor and serious, violent incidents that will, no doubt, result in injuries and possibly deaths of many people. Trump should not be allowed to carry out this terrible, hugely expensive, pointless and unnecessary, politically motivated plan. VOTE BLUE💙and put an end to Trump madness.

    5:48 These cost estimates for Trump’s mass deportation are rather BS b/c fails to account for RL/reality in executing such a plan.
    Doubtful that 13 million can be rounded up in months (or even a year), much less all detained at same time. It’ll have to be done in stages, perhaps by location. That, as well as coordinating arrests w/ processing times & deportation, can mitigate how many agents are needed & how many are detained at a given time.
    Sure I want govt to process undocumented better/faster (months, not years) so that those who qualify can begin new life & those who fail get deported. But as usual, Trump bluster is steaming pile of poo detached from reality.

      At the lowest estimate of 11 million illegal immigrants here in the U.S. and a C-130 holding 92 people, that's going on 120,000 missions. Factoring in how many such planes are mission capable at any given moment, that would work out to 615 flights per aircraft
      Basically the fleet would be tied up for years doing nothing but ferrying immigrants around the world.

    • @GlobalCitizen_y2k
      @GlobalCitizen_y2k 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @kenofken9458 Thx for info. Have no idea abt US’s current fleet availability & flight cost, but private contract $17k per flight hour seemed high, even assuming 200 passengers.
      92 per flight is not cost-efficient. In my OP, was thinking passenger craft (vs military transport like Hercules) via program like CRAF or Patriot Express, if permitted. Few yrs ago, heard ICE Air private flight was less than $8k per flight hour -- much less than cost noted in vid.

    • @kenofken9458
      @kenofken9458 2 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@GlobalCitizen_y2k There would be nothing cheap about trying to round up and deport many millions of people. The logistics would be staggering even if they all voluntarily lined up and presented themselves for deportation, which is, to put it mildly, highly unlikely. Almost any plane of serious capacity is likely to cost $15,000 to $30,000 per hour to fly. Using military planes has it's own problems in that you generally cannot fly military planes into the airspace of foreign countries let alone land there without permission.
      That cost is just the tip of the iceberg. You'd need massive upgrades of detention capacity, enforcement agents and immigration judges. Except in certain limited circumstances, you cannot just round up anyone you think is illegal and stuff them onto departing flights. They have to get processed.
      I'd be very surprised if the entire enterprise did not cost, at bare minimum, tens of billions of dollars.
      This is a problem that took decades to take shape. It's not going to get solved in a matter of months or a few years.

Deport them and the industry would either have to significantly increase wages for these jobs, to make them more attractive to Americans or just be short of staff. And staff shortages can cause worker burnout and more shortages. Now image having hotel room prices go from $150/night to $250+/night… and restaurant meals from $20/plate to $35+/plate… in a midsized city. It will devastate small independent businesses and make consumers less likely to frequent those services… which may in turn increase prices again.

      People who came to your country asking for asylum are not breaking the laws. If you let them in, you must listen to them and give them a chance to explain. You can't let them in your country and call them criminals. Hello, the criminals are the ones who illegally enter your country without a visa and without getting registered by your government, who are not asking for help or running away from something. The people you should are the ones who just cross the border without being registered with no case and just disappear through the country and nobody where they are or where they come from There are millions like that in the USA at the USA got others who are things the right way they are registered the US know what country they came from where they live in the US etc I am sorry but we can't call them illegals they did brake any laws in the USA the US should worry about those who did not register with the immigration but vanished into the country there is the one who in the US illegally
      So stop labeling everybody as criminals violating US laws. Meanwhile, many of them are in the US legally fighting their cases

Also, who does he think is going to help with building the homes and apartments to help relieve the housing shortage we now face? Service industries, landscaping and maintenance, etc, etc.

      The mass deportation is ONLY with regard to illegal aliens. And if illegal aliens are farm workers ... then they should NOT be allowed in the country specifically because they are illegal aliens, and not for any other reason.
