Looks pretty good. How did you attach them to the truck? How has it held up so far?

They are attached like stock ones would be…kinda. I welded 3 L brackets on each board and they sit flush to the back side of rockers attached by 2 bolts each bracket. Issue is stock metal with this much weight would give a lot and as mine were rusted wouldn’t hold at all. I replaced cab corners and inner outer rockers made of 1/8” flat steel. I’m 180 and my son 230 and with both of us it flexes only half inch.

Can you describe how these are attached to your truck. Nice work.

Yes sir, they are pretty close to how you would mount standard aftermarket style. I made my brackets a L-shape so they snug flat to the back side of rocker area in three places. Some trucks have the holes already on that bottom lip of rocker and some you have to drill. For the top of the L-bracket I had to weld a bolt head to truck since it’s all solid now and factory there would be bolt holes and other open areas to get fingers in and access bolts. I’ve also seen Nerf bars with a hook at top of its bracket and you just hook it on and then bolt at bottom. Not sure if this helps. It’s easier to show than it is to describe.

In the video I probably talked about adding additional bracing from bars to frame or cab with a rod and bushing. I only wanted to do this for less flex when you step on bars and more strength to take a hit when off-roading. Haven’t gotten there yet but my bars don’t move at all because rockers are so solid and not like factory where nerf bar flexes when you step on it.

The bars look great. How far out do they go? How close are they to the tires? Thank you for giving me the incentive to build a set like these for my f-100 SWB.
