Not trying to be a tech nerd but, both run on the same board with the size being the only difference. Many factors could affect the loading times, but the results are close enough.
Other than storage and the disc drive, the slim's intent was to be a revision; NOT an upgrade. The "slim" is meant for the people still on ps4, not the people who already have a ps5.
And thats why i i got it mine recently went from the ps4 slim im a slim buyer i always wait the 3 years and just stack up on the new titles that they drop on last gen till then

Actually, if you own a M.2 SSD from Sony that has 7000+ read speeds it actually exceeds in loading up games on there faster vs ur regular ps5 storage. Probably faster than the slim. Try it.
The only difference the ps5 and the ps5 slim have are the size and the chipset the ps5 uses a 7nm chipset which requires a lot more power supply and the ps5 slim uses a 6nm chipset which is more power efficient they so were able to reduce the power supply in the ps5 slim and make it smaller than the old one
Thats actual wrong because ps5 big also uses 6nm chipset,the old version of the ps5 big used 7nm chipset but they changed it to 6nm because there was an issue going on with liquid metal leaking
I just got an OG PS5 right after Christmas cuz it’s the exact same specs as the Slim, but I like the design and stand better on the OG. Plus, it’s been tested and apparently runs slightly cooler and quieter than the Slim. 🤷🏼♂️ And I got the updated 2022 model of the OG, which has the same 6nm chipset that the Slim has. Which is likely why it runs even cooler, as it uses the same amount of energy as the Slim but is larger and has more ventilation. But they’re still both PS5s at the end of the day and are both great.
I got one not even knowing it was a slim. No clue it came out even. Very happy with it. Was a PC gamer for 10 years and it honestly blew me away. Plus PlayStation exclusives are always so well optimized

As a Normal PS5 Owner I say that the PS5 Slim is a W unlike the new PS5 Pro which costs Sony $400 to develop and they are overcharging $300 for it plus the cost to add a Disc Drive,If you own the Original version of the PS5 I'd stick to it and upgrade storage but if you are still wanting to buy a PS5 then just buy the slim version cuz it's compact,it preforms just like the Original PS5 and comes with more storage space

The design and efficiency of the cooling system are more critical factors, larger consoles might have more space to incorporate effective cooling mechanisms but then again, it's all about the cooling system design and the Slim and Og has the same one. They have the same APU chip so it would produced the same heat but you're putting that APU chip in a smaller case so probably the Slim might actually need more air since its a smaller console. Smaller console generates more heat but if they changed the APU chip for the Slim like they did in the Ps4 Slim, then it would be better than the Og. Also those little ridges are called like vent grills or idk, they prevent dust from coming through. 👍
The main reason that made me get a ps5 slim over a regular ps5 is mostly because of the design that looks quite better and it's quite smaller. And also the fact that you can convert it easily from disc to digital and then back to disc in a simple operation to add/remove the optical drive. And also if you need to replace the drive you don't have to take the whole console apart.

@@maci1245I think different motherboard since it's smaller but same technology inside the motherboard and disc-drive, only thing about the disc-drive is removable. In terms of price, yeah it is expensive but in terms of material cost, it's a little cheaper since it's just the same console.
The difference could be chalked up to the different environments featured in the home screen, slim had a "basic" environment while phat had to render buildings.

The Ps5 original is was made like almost 4 years ago and its has gotten old but the Ps5 slim is the newer updated version of it and everything is new and runs fast.
I literally only got it for the 200 more usable gigs, but I used to have the OG PS5. The slim takes up a little less space and looks a little more easy on the eyes but it ain’t worth buying unless you just have money on hand and don’t care

There are multiple contributing factors as to why one is loading faster. If you did this with a brand new PS5 and brand new PS5 Slim there would be no difference as it's the same motherboard, processor, gpu, etc. The only difference is a slightly bigger storage which isn't really an issue in 2023 and the size of the console itself.
