      Your'e welcome, maybe about a year ago i saw/heard one of you're OT ambient works and it inspired me to perhaps get an OT and start creating my own ambient type works. Anyway fast forward and now, I bought an OT and I'm finally starting to really learn this instrument. Thanks again Andre!

    Awesome tutorial! I've been thinking about the OT since I want to move towards more hands on improvisational performance on the glitchier end of the spectrum; this shows the power of the machine. Thanks!

    Thanks for the tip man, even if (you know it) it is like a green screen. Curtis Roads would not like this. Grains are not only "slices". Ive used maxmsp granular tools and "cloud generator" during years. But my friend, YES, YOU MADE IT, AS IT'S A REAL CREATIVE PROCESS!

    Thanks, this is really a helpful tutorial. I've been using this trick on my Octa MK1 for ages, however, what puts me off is the annoying "clicking" of the sample retrigger, that you just can't get rid of. I mean, it can be tamed down by filtering or a bit by playing with sample attack, however, it's still there and it's annoying as hell. Any way how to work this around?

      I think you can increase the attack in amp to get rid of this

    This is all very cool and thank you for sharing. What I'm most confused by from this is how you are somehow sequencing a piano sample from a MIDI track. What device are you triggering?

      @nthirteen  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You are right. I could have explained that one better. I am sequencing a Nord stage piano through the octatrack midi track. It´s an actual external instrument/device and not a sample. After I sequenced the piano, I then sample it and work with both - the sample for granular synthesis and the midi track for playback of the actual sequence. Hope that helps. Andre.

      Perfect! That explains it. Of course it's a Nord! Thanks for the quick response! For the record, love your channel and the tracks you've posted.

    Nice work. I'm just not a fan of the popping sound. Elektron should have given the option to align lfo based sample start points with Z-crossings or give a new amp envelope option. the popping literally ruins this amazing technique for me and also other amazing randomized sample start point tricks.

    Okay, I know I'm being "that guy" here, but this isn't granular synthesis in any sense of the term. If you sped it up to the point where it became its own tone it would be at least a very simplified form of it, but in this you're just playing a relatively small loop. It sounds good, don't get me wrong, but granular synthesis is a bit more complex than that.

      Ok thanks. Glitch fx would be better suited name?

      Probably. I'm not trying to be the "name police" or anything like that, though. Just thought I'd point it out I guess.

      woodlandcritterpunch I would think it's about achieving an effect with the octatrack. Making the most out of the machine and just thinking outside the box. Awesome approach
