Raiden's arch enemy is apparently gravity. If MPG is the future of Takara I am definitely worried. Great review and thanks for the mini vs. with Moon studios.
Great review yeah comparing this to Moon Studios is no comparison. The only thing that looks great with the official Raiden is the realistic train modes. That’s for taking the time doing this video. 👍🏽
Good video. The bot is a colossal piece of shit, but I enjoyed your video as always. I’ve heard calls for Takara to make a Devastator. If this is their attempt at a “masterpiece” combiner people should be thankful there are other options on the way. I commend you for not adding negative numbers when giving this thing a score
Honestly, this just makes me sad. Takara started at the top & used to be the guys everyone else copied, surprising us with innovative ideas & clever engineering solutions with each new release (MP-Inferno's ladder-magic being the classic example). They've been going off the rails with some questionable design choices with many of their MP releases since roughly MP-44, but this hideous monstrosity is in a class of its own. What an embarrassment. Thanks for warning us about this expensive trainwreck. If this is what we can expect from Takara's new consolidated MPG line, I honestly don't see how the line will survive. The 3rd party MP market is already excelling in areas where Takara have been twiddling their thumbs for years. Sad & unfortunate.
I think if 6 high speed trains collided head on (ok, that's a weird railroad track design...lol) it would have a better chance looking like Raiden than the mpg. Which I'm convinced is masterpiece chug scale. The Moon Studio is absolutely a superior offering. Brave man ending the video without the stand, even with the wall supporting it.
Shocked Takara could make such a horrible combiner for the MP line, i mean someone should have played with some previous 3rd party combiners and get some ideas but it seems they just played with some Combiner wars figures instead. And its a expensive combination as well. Trains look great though. Such a shame.
@@TMReviews I saw a picture the other day of someone who had connected all the tracks and then managed to set each stand at a different height and made it look like the entire train was launching into the air at about a 45 degree angle while connected. I thought that looked pretty neat and it is what I'll probably end up doing.
The anxiety I felt watching you handle that piece of trash without disassembling was enormous, I made the best decision to stop after buying Shouki, I would have thrown him against the wall in frustration.
While I enjoy the individual bots, I wish Kaen could've been as tall as the others, and the combined mode's instability partly due to the massive backpacks really kills the combined mode. Glad to see your Yukikaze's ankle has the same issue with wanting to collapse as mine does lol At least with the flight stands he can get some halfway decent poses, but in no world should that be required for it to stay upright. I'll argue the individual bots are mp scale, but that combiner is definitely not, it's the same size as legacy menasor without the dna upgrade kit
Even a railway buff like me can say that this went off the rails in terms of the robots and combine modes. The Moon Studio locos are good in their own right but their more squashed to combat with the engineering to get then to transform to and fro. One of my mates even told me when one of the figures were available and even then I thought "I'm good with what I got."
Great review, sadly I just bult mine all up and was wondering where you got the large clear plastic piece that you attached to the rusted stand. I cant seem to find it. Thanks in advanced!
The individual bots standing together just looks like a bunch of CHUG figures. They seem like they were designed by the Transformers HasLab team instead of the MP team. The combined mode makes the combiner war figures seem amazing. Seeing it next to the Moon Studios version, wow, there isn't any comparison. It doesn't even really scale with CHUG. It doesn't make me excited for the upcoming powermaster Prime, if it is of this quality. Odd that the alt mode was the focus, and they still don't actually work with a real train set.
Probably a requirement to use the train licences. And I can imagine some Takara manager telling the designers 'The trains must look good. Figure out the rest, that's YOUR job'
When it was first announced they were doing Raiden, I was excited. Then when the first bot came out and I saw the scale I backed out of the pre order. Glad I went the moon studios route. So much better than this hot mess.
Videos like this one is why I subscribe to your channel as a Transformers collector. I love the honesty in this review: I was thinking about getting Raiden, but I’ll pass after watching this video.
Thing that absolutely concerns the hell of of me is that they're merging the MP and MPG lines together starting with Ginrai... Sure the MP stuff has been fairly reliably on point, but I mean MPG is quite literally 0/1 with this clusterf*ck of a combiner...
Thank you for the informative review. One word to sum up and describe this little fiasco by TT and H DISAPPOINTING The Train modes is all it has. The only positive it has got. You are paying $900 for this Collection of (Expletive). For a Combiner that does NOT go with anything really. Compare that to MOON STUDIO's creation. As I understand it, TT and H are moving away from MP Scale and going to this MPG scale. Not a fan at all. This is SHRINKFLATION. Not to mention it might as well be CHUG scale. PASS. So TT and H are going to charge you, the consumer a MAXIMUM PREMIUM PRICE for subpar product that doesn't fit in with the scale you have chosen. Long Live 3P. Love em, H. 8. em. But at least they give you what you want at a reasonable price point.
I think the individual bots scale well to the animation, with the exception of MPG-06. I'm keeping them but I need Moon Studios as a combined mode. I'm not sure what to do with this giant box though. I regret it so much, used a freight forwarder and they sent it to me in a box I could fit in and it cost over $100 CND to ship it.
Yeah I actually like shouki overall, I’d get him just to have since he’s very accurate. This was just as comical and painful as I thought. Incredible. The arms don’t go out to the side at all?!
This thing is so bad, it's like a hyper-expensive Combiner Wars figure - it's a disgrace. The Moon set absolutely schooled this thing. It's an embarrassment how inferior it is. Fraction of the size, fraction of the aesthets, 5x the price. Is these were both third party, Takara would be out of business after this joke. Their complete lack of combiner experience at MP level shows badly.
Honestly i'd forgive some of the visual issues if it were a lesser 3p company for 60/70 bucks a figure or even a hasbro mainline toy But nothing forgives the stability issues imo
This set looks pretty terrible, but honestly I'm not concerned about the MPG Super Ginrai set. Compared to what the Trainbots tried to do it looks much less complicated. But it is sad that Takara made a combiner which can't even stand on its own.
I think it'll be interesting to see these next to the upcoming MPG Ginrai. Everyone seems to think the Ginrai looks shorter than the Masterpiece scale. I'm wondering if the core bot will be the same size as these guys, then have the MPG line with a new scale entirely. That's not going to stop me from picking up the Super Ginrai, just because Powermaster Optimus Prime was my childhood Prime toy, but it'll probably be the last TT figure I get.
I'm not going to get into the debate about whether it's on a masterpiece scale or not (for me it's not, but everyone has their opinion) yes, the combined mode is rubbish, I have the ko nbk of the devastator from generation toys, and it doesn't have even a quarter of the problems that this one has, the combiner is ridiculous, the trains do look very good, I can't deny that, but with the robots the problems begin. I have no idea what the designers were thinking when they created this thing.
