from the Salea web site the Logic 2 software seem to work in demo mode (software will create random data tracks) if other than genuine Salea device is connected, from your video you're using a clone copy with the Logic 2 software , is it working demo mode or you get the real input from your device. thank you

Hello! That was real data coming through. I wouldn't be surprised if Saleae somehow locks their software to only work with their devices. In the future I will be using Pulseview/Sigrok as it has just as many features and seems just as good.

Its so cool of you to use saleae's software with a cheap chinese clone of their own hardware, thus taking money away from their company that they spent time to R&D'd and write it for you... thumbs up.

I've been feeling bad about not supporting Saleae. I may try to get some of their products ordered at our company since they work well. For personal projects that I have not made money on I just use the clones. I suspect that they will make their software only work with genuine hardware using some embedded license key or something.

@BloodyCactus I had not heard of them before. Just looked it up now and found out pickits from microchip can also be logic anlyzers! As soon as I find time I'll get it running on my machine. Thank you for telling me.

How dare someone use software on their hardware of choice

It’s open source and not everyone has the money for expensive logic analyzers

Listen, I get it. When you start out you don't have any money. Saleae offers the software open source, so yes you have every right to use it, don't ever let anyone tell you otherwise. At least acknowledge that fact and encourage people that if they do have the money, you know, help support the people that make the software you use because if they go out of business because everyone goes and buys cheap chinese ip theft in hardware format, well, then the software it all depends on stops. You are doing the same thing that every major corpo CEO in the western world did that screwed over every job that actually made something that was once in the Western world: but they do it so cheap over in China. They use slave labor too, yeah it's cheap. And I mean, there is a reason you don't use sigrok yeah? Yeah.

Honestly, I didn't even know about Sigrok till after this video. I have since installed it on my computers and actually did a demo on my channel if you want to check it out. m.th-cam.com/video/wymRQRFFnFo/w-d-xo.html
