Laura was always sensitive, even though she didn't act it outright. Especially in these earlier episodes, she'd often think the world was ending as a result of a small crisis or insult from one of the kids at school. And she liked pretty things, there are 2 episodes I can recall where she's entranced by a musicbox, and she loves her lemon verbena perfume. It's quite plausible to me that she'd grow attached to a doll like that, when it was probably the only store-bought doll she'd ever had.
I'm actually surprised Charles let Laura keep the Raccoon. I mean even though it's a baby, it's still wild and people on the prairie knew not to mess with wild animals. If Mary wanted to make Laura feel better, Mary could've sewed her a doll.
I started to do this for part 3! Oh, my God! Michael Landon shirtless!! I do not know if I can see the entire episode knowing that the third party is so fascinating!! I guess I'll see Part 3 again!!
The sad truth is, raccoons are only sweet and innocent when they're helpless little babies. But like the guy said; they're wild animals. And if there's one thing this movie teaches us is that raccoons will never make good pets no matter how cute they are or how much some people love them.
@1mnmfan I don't think it's that Laura isn't into dolls. The ingalls just can't afford fancy dolls. Which brings the question, where did this doll come from? Remember how fascinated Laura was and wanted to touch Nellie's doll in "Town party-country party" ??? Laura didn't act like she had her own doll that closed her eyes. OH I guess MNsportsguru just answered my question. But how did anyone afford it in Little House in the Big Woods? It wasn't a rag doll. Olsen said it was the MOST EXPENSIVE.
Hm. Inconsistancies. Laura said in a previous episode she doesn't play with dolls. And why does Mary the bookworm need to practise playing ball, when she's such a scholastic girl?

Just LOVE that intro song!!!!!
@fisteberg Thank you! lol. I do feel bad for Laura but keeping a racoon isn't the best thing to do and rabies was not curable back then.
@blightedangel Yeah, that's true. Plus we never saw Laura with that doll at all in any of the earlier episodes.
Aw I kind of wanna cry when Laura is upset over her broken doll :(
at 8:25 you see Carrie's talent..... the show should have revolved around her and her strong acting skills.:)

@LibertyCrusader yea they were out of their characters in the other episodes mary never plays ball and laura doesnt seem much too into dolls!
Well......the real Laura Ingalls was a tomboy and also played with dolls.

hmm funny the first scene is not marys character playing ball that was laura they switched characters haha!
How come all of her favorite animal names start with j?
Tame? As if. That raccoon tried to bite someone in school and started causing trouble later.
dame freaking dog.
Wouldn't it have rabies?
I like little Joe Cartwright more than Charles Ingalls
hahahahahahahahahahahahahaahahahahahahaahahahahahaahahahaahahahahahahahaha her doll died from her head blowing up.
