I use a small mixer when I play drums with my band. I get a monitor signal from FOH, an ambient mic and a metronome into my mixer, and I connect my InEars to the phones output. We sometimes use backing tracks, and I have a separate multitrack player for this. Normally it is just 3 tracks - a stereo track and a click track. The click is just for me, while the stereo is split in the DI box to FOH and the through-outputs are sent back to my little mixer. I have two questions and they are: Can I use the CQ-18T to replace all of this, and have my backingtracks on an SD card and play back 3 tracks from the SD Card? I would then route the stereo backingtrack to Aux Out 1-2 for FOH in addition to listening to it in my InEars. Can I assign the three rotary knobs on the left of the screen to adjust fader volume of any channels in the CQ-18T - for instance Backing Track, Click Track and Monitor Input from FOH? That way I can have easy access to adjust my monitor mix while I am playing, without having to use the touchscreen.
Hello Vegard, Yes, you can indeed use the CQ for your setup, running tracks from an SD card. Please make sure to follow the SD Card specifications stated on the User Manual. You can indeed assign level to the 3 soft rotary knobs in the surface. Cheers, Rafael
Hi ,I'm only recently after moving from analogue to the digital era, moving from Allen and Heath mix wiz to dynacord to presonus 16:4:2 my introduction to digital , now I'm contemplating purchasing your CQ-18T desk , fascinating product , in relation to Quick Channels , to play play backing tracks is there a quick channel setting for this I could use
Question I have the allen an health cq 20b is the blue light suppose to be blue an blinking all the time asking because after mine been on for awhile the light turns solid green an I lose connection an things like that. An is there a better way to turn up the gain from the rounds controls on the app it hard to do
Hello Jahmon, The Blue LED blinking indicates that the unit is currently in Factory mode. Once you access the App and you configure the Network settings, the LED should turn Green to indicate that the Network settings have been established. Thank you, Rafael
Is it possible in a software update to allow the headphone 1 and 2 stereo jacks to be monitor mixes separate from the 6 aux outs? Would be great as it would allow for a total of 5 stereo IEMs
Hi Ganesh, No - this would require extra processing. It is possible to assign any of the mixes to each headphone output separately, but I'm afraid what you're asking for would require a different core. Thanks, Keith.
What is the latency performance when recording with the CQ-18T as an audio interface on a new silicon Mac using Logic? Using the USB 2.0 standard I expect that latency performance is not as good as the fastest TB or USB 3 standards..! But it would be nice to know the actual numbers! :)
Hello Acoustic Landscapes, Round Trip Latency for USB B connection to a computer device is: 10ms @256 samples buffer / 96kHz sample rate 18ms @256 samples buffer / 48kHz sample rate Cheers, Rafael
Is it possible to save a scene? Full band set up for a show. I currently have a QSC Touchmix 16 and simply need to recall all my settings at different venues…example we play club A 4 times a year, just need to recall those settings when we play there All shows/Scenes are stored on the board, just need to recall.
Hi Danny, Yes, you can store up to 100 Scenes in the CQ at one time. All of these are stored in a Show and I'm sure there's a maximum number of Shows that can be stored to a drive... but we haven't come across it yet! Thanks, Keith. (more info here - www.allen-heath.com/media/CQ_User_Guide_V1_1_0_iss1.pdf#page=26&zoom=auto,-361,555 )
Many of us have purchased this unit, and we have NO manual, nor immediate support. Wifi not working, blue tooth not working, Quick Start not working, Auto feedback not accessible...

Thank you, Rafael
Just got an 18T a few days ago. It looks really promising. I'm still learning how to run it and I've got three gigs this weekend! I do live recording and sound reinforcement for vocal groups here in New Haven Connecticut USA. A few things I found surprising: When you link two input channels, the odd channel goes hard left, and the even channel goes hard right. I always link two channels for a Mid-Side microphone and run them in mono through the sound system. When I get to post, I fold the recording out into stereo. I can no longer do it this way and I'm going to have to run two mono channels and copy / paste the EQ and be very careful with the faders. Is there any chance that the pan function can be unlinked? There's no time stamp on the recording? My shows are sometimes up to 2 hours in length and I usually stop the recording a number of times for intermission and when a new group takes the stage. So now I'm going to have to line tracks up by eye when I get to post I guess. Otherwise, this mixer looks great!!! BTW: My friend who is a commercial studio owner used to work for A & H when you had a location here in Orange Connecticut. It will be nice running with A & H instead of "brand X" like I was before. I'm crossing back over from the dark side!! This video is excellent. Thank you!
Hello Evensteve, There is no option to adjust the PAN level once channels are linked as stereo or to unlink the PAN, I'm afraid. Time Stamps are not a feature on the recording system, but you are always welcome to drop a message with this as a suggestion on our Feature suggestions section, in our community forum, where our product managers will look into it and review: community.allen-heath.com/forums/forum/cq/cq-feature-suggestions Thank you, Rafael
@@AllenandHeathUK Thank you for your prompt reply. I'm thinking that you misunderstood my question about the PAN function. I'm not looking for an option to unlink/link the pan; instead, I would like to see the pan function always unlinked from a linked pair of inputs. It shouldn't be there at all. In a live situation, not being able to adjust the stereo spread is not good at all. As I've explained in my original post, using mid/side technique with this limitation is a deal breaker. You'd have the cardioid microphone's information on one side of the room, and the figure of eight microphone's information on the other side of the room. UNUSABLE. In my situation, I place a mid/side microphone in the middle of a semicircle of singers, and set the pans straight up dead center. With the mixer that I'm using presently using, (brand X), I can do this with the inputs linked. Any EQ or compression adjustments I make show up in both Left and Right, and the whole semicircle of singers is projected to the audience in mono. With the CQ mixer, I'm going to have to fiddle with two faders, two EQ and compresson settings individually. That's a whole lot of parameters and some super quick copy/paste moves to make while I really should be paying attention to the lead vocalist. So, I would like to see the pan function excluded from linked inputs.
@@evensteve284 It seems you think your previous mixer is taking your side signal (a mono signal) and somehow creating a stereo width, but in fact it is not doing that. Its still just the mono signal coming from both sides. The correct technique would be to send the side (mono) signal to 2 buses, phase reverse one bus and pan to Left, pan the unmodified bus to right. I can assure you, your previous mixer was not doing this for live settings, simply by putting the side signal assigned to one side of stereo linked channels. I would recommend setting this up in a DAW like Logic Pro, using sends/busses, then using software monitoring from Logic to output back into channels on the CQ. Although in a live setting, the usefulness for adding room presence (mid/side) into house speakers is limited. The best application for mid/side recording is through headphones, or a set of stereo speakers. The people in the room generally are already experiencing the room sound. I don't think the CQ series has capabilities for adding aux busses, maybe their higher models do. But taking the software DAW route for this is what I recommend. Otherwise its a fantastic fully featured mixer.
@@mholber ("It seems you think your previous mixer is taking your side signal (a mono signal) and somehow creating a stereo width, but in fact it is not doing that. Its still just the mono signal coming from both sides." ) No, I don't think that at all. I run my house sound in MONO. I record the mid and figure of eight microphones on seperate tracks. When I get to Post, I duplicate the side track, flip the phase, pan those tracks hard left and right, add the mid track and bingo I have stereo. My clients LOVE IT. ("Its still just the mono signal coming from both sides.") When I gang two faders, I want the convenience of having the volume and the EQ controlled together. Any EQ change I make in one channel will show up in the other channel. And the two faders will increase and decrease together. If I could run the pans on both channels dead center, the mid mic and the figure of eight mic would show up in both my left and right FOH speakers in MONO. Which is what I want. Thanks for your reply.
Got mine this week and have had no issues so far. I’ve not tried the Bluetooth but everything has been great so far. I’ve only one issue. USB B into logic signals are extremely low. Guitar on the cq18 is gain staged with gain assistant showing level at 0 db but when sending to logic signal is -15db not sure what to do about this. Please and thanks.
Hi Ganesh, As with all our digital mixers, 0dB on the CQ meter will give you +4dBu on an output socket and -18dBFS to any digital output. What you're seeing is the difference between dB metering in the CQ and dBFS metering in Logic. There is 18dB of headroom which helps avoid peaks and digital distortion when recording. Increasing the level in post (by normalising for example) is the same as increasing the level before sending to the USB interface in the CQ would be, but without the risk of peaking. There's an article about this here - support.allen-heath.com/hc/en-gb/articles/4403616287889-General-Qu-SQ-Levels-and-Metering-in-Qu-and-SQ - which is written for SQ/Qu but most of it also applies to CQ. Thanks, Keith.
Is there a simple device to connect to the USB-B port (acting as host) and convert the stereo feed to AES? That + the BMD Audio to SDI would allow me to get this into my video switcher fully digitally, which would be awesome for avoiding potential clipping during the D/A then A/D conversion.
@jodagold5481 - The multitrack recording and playback built into the CQ is for capture (rehearsals, live events), performance (multitrack backing track playback) and virtual soundcheck applications. There are no plans to implement any kind of overdubbing in the CQ itself. For studio work, including overdubbing, CQ features a USB-B interface compatible with mac, windows and (because it's class compliant) most tablet devices too. Thanks, Keith.
@@AllenandHeathUK Thanks Keith - but i will say this .. if it was to be implemented by some clever scripting , its fair to say the Tascam model and zoom series of mixer which allow for overdub would be potentially sidelined - for those musicians who also want to get away from a pc .. And looking through the forums this seems a popular question ! Anyway here is to hoping thank you Keith :)
Hello, CQ does not have integration with Dante protocol. I recommend looking into SQ and the Dante Card: www.allen-heath.com/hardware/sq/ Thank you, Rafael
WHY wouldn't you make this expandable or linkable?? Similar question...is this firmware/software technology getting released across your line of other digital mixers? Really want to buy one of these for the software (autogain, feedback cancel), but not enough channels.
Hi Jeff, In short, the extra hardware and core power required to enable expansion and/or linking of the CQ would increase the price of it for everyone, including those who don't need or want that functionality. Regarding the new software tech, we have had many requests for the gain assistant and feedback assistant, along with the quick channels and FX to be included in other ranges, so we'll certainly investigate, but I couldn't say whether it would be possible or not at this time. Thanks! Keith.
Great video, thank you! I was just wondering what you would advise to someone who wants to use these mixers both in (home) studio as well as during band rehearsals and possibly even small gigs. I like the touchscreen on the 18T model but would prefer XLR outs for our IEM mixes…. I understand in the end it is about personal preference but would appreciate opinions on how to come to a conclusion :-)
Hello Hillman, The CQ range of mixers are so versatile that work perfectly for either home-studio, rehearsals and live gigs, just as you mentioned. If you need any assistance or you have more questions, feel free to get in touch with us as Support@allen-heath.com Thank you, Rafael
I have another question about pass through from a daw via USB how many output channels can I have for example. Backing track from daw into the console through 1-2 but I’d want to send a click to our monitors to 3-4 ? Does that make sense and is that possible.
Hello Ganesh, Yes, this is possible. Depending on the model, you can stream up to 24 channels over the USB interface from your DAW to the console. Once the signals are on your console, you can send them to your LR or Monitors as you desire. Thank you, Rafael
As a minimum, we recommend sourcing Class 10 SD storage, with at least UHS speed class 1, to guarantee minimum write speeds of 10MB/s. These should be easy to source from retailers and include the following markings/icons 10 in a C and 1 in a U The card will either need to be formatted on the mixer or a computer to the FAT32 files system before it will be operational on the mixer. Regards, Luke
Got it today 09 13, thanks. Five questions please: 1) How much current is available at the USB port ? This will determine how well it can drive the larger sticks and or drives. This spec is not in the manual. For example on the Ui24r it is a measly 40mA which demands an active USB hub to drive SSD drives like a T5 or T7, not on its own. 2) It will be helpful to be able to label the OUTS. 3) Instead of SOLO you have buttons with a headphone icon, however when using as a I/0 it will be unusual to have headphones on to hear the solo. How about both ? OR routable. 4) What is the timing for the Windows CQ app ? And 5) What version of Andriod is necessary for the CQ for Android to work ? Thank you for your attention and follow up @@AllenandHeathUK
Hello John, The console processes audio at 96kHz, this is fixed. However, the USB/SD interface can be configured at 96kHz and 48kHz to accommodate files on these two Sample Rates. Cheers, Rafael
Late question here. iPad audio over usb to the desk, I play with backing tracks that are split Click RIGHT and Backing Track LEFT. Can these be used without the click going to FOH?
Hi Joe, Yes, this should be straight forward. If you are splitting a stereo feed to two mono parts, then you simply route this into two separate mono inputs. You can then route one to LR and the other to which ever bus you want. I hope this helps! Luke
Hi Giovanni, The best way to connect a DJ mixer to the CQ is to run FMXLR to TRS, into the stereo input of the CQ. As this input is ready to go as a stereo line-level input. I hope this helps! Best, Luke
do i need di box for bass and guitar input? just wondering if i need to buy di box or not. just wondering if i can just plug my guitar or bass in directly and still get good sound quality without noise or distortion.
Hi, Thanks for the message, CQ20-B has built-in HiZ inputs on channels 15 & 16. These do not require an additional DI. However, the 12T and 18T models do not have this feature and will require DI for High-impedance signals. Thanks, Luke
Hello hossein, Feel free to drop your suggestion in our "Feature Suggestion" section of the community forum! Here's a link for you: community.allen-heath.com/forums/forum/cq/cq-feature-suggestions Thanks, Rafael
Hello, I just got my CQ-20B and was wondering what a typical operating temperature should be in a room that's say at 23C? Also I think it would be really cool if at some point via a firmware update the mixer could be controlled via the USB-B cable. I believe currently it will only show up as an interface but you still have to control it via network... speaking of which, here's something that perhaps could be implemented sooner/easier then the USB-B thing, I know the mixer can join an existing network via its ethernet port, but could we get an update so that it can also join an existing network via it's built in wifi? In other words a client mode for it's built in wifi, not just a router mode. Thanks for your time!
Hi Jeff, The CQ core will typically run at around 70C. Note that the min/max figures shown in the info section, tell you the min and max temperature measured since the unit was last booted. It would be cool to have even more options for control, but we purposefully keep the audio and app control data separate to avoid potential issues with bandwidth and dropouts of either. The idea for having the CQ as a client on a wireless network is nice - it would be great if you could add this to the feature suggestions section of our digital community here - community.allen-heath.com/forums/forum/cq/cq-feature-suggestions Thanks! Keith
Is it possible to connect a Fader Controller board (ie, Presonus Faderport 8/16), to be able tomix the CQ series with actual faders & knobs? If that is not possible, i hope that this feature could be implimented via firmware update for popular Fader Controllers board, ie Presonus Faderport series (which i already have 🙂), ICON series, etc.... As for the multi track recording capabilities, does it have Punch In/Punch Out dubbing (ie, like on the Tascam Sonicview XP)? If not, could it possible to add that feature in upcoming firmware updates?
Thanks for the message, Please note that that MIDI has not been fully implemented on CQ. So, at present there is no MIDI capability on offer with this range. kind regards, Luke
This mixer looks amazing, but I can't find any way to control it via MIDI to have direct access to some parameters in live situations, have I missed something ?
Hello @ikkini, CQ range of consoles do not integrate a MIDI protocol at this time, I'm afraid. This is in consideration for a possible implementation in the future, but at the moment, there is no MIDI protocol on CQ. Cheers, Rafael
Hello @ikkini, I'm sorry to hear that! Just to clarify, you can control all of the CQ range consoles remotely as well through the CQ MixPad App, from iOS and/or Android devices. Cheers, Rafael
@@AllenandHeathUK Thanks for your reply. Yes, I'm aware of that, but all these controls mean touch screens. I'd like physical control for a few parameters. Unfortunately a lot of portable digital console offer remote control from an app only these days...
I would like to resolve a doubt, when I assign the input signal to the channel, such as USB, will the recordings I can insert only be those recorded by the console or can I use other external media?
Hello @vinycius1jorge, You can certainly use any external multitracks and files, they don't necessarily have to be recorded from the CQ console. However, there are a few important guidelines and things to consider in order for the CQ to read these files correctly. Please review in detail the information in page 118 of the user manual: www.allen-heath.com/content/uploads/2023/09/CQ_User_Guide_V1_1_0_iss1.pdf As well as the following article: support.allen-heath.com/hc/en-gb/articles/19853352600337-Multitrack-Recording-and-Playback-from-SD-Card Cheers, Rafael
Is it possible to recall an eq preset for a individual channel, with out changing other settings with it.? ( meaning, I only want to change the eq preset). Can't find it on the manual.
Hi Yosef, Yes, there is a channel library as well as libraries for each individual processing 'block' available. So you can recall a whole channel preset, or just a PEQ or Gate or Compressor preset for example. Thanks, Keith.
Any idea when minimum of subgroups will be available for new updates? This is very important guys please I sold my soundcraft ui24 to get this one and I got very frustrated when i found out that there is no subgroups.
@kduzec4912 - The CQ has 6 independent outputs alongside the main LR, but it's not possible to use these as phase coherent subgroups in the same way as with something like the more powerful SQ range. However, a popular suggestion on our community is for DCA's, which would allow control over multiple main LR send levels from a single fader. If this is something you'd like to see, please add your voice to the thread here - community.allen-heath.com/forums/topic/is-it-possible-to-add-a-dca - thanks, Keith.
Does FX's have presets? Any experimental FX's on offer/planned? (e.g. granular/reverse/tremolo/noise/distortion/filters/LFOs) Can you connect effect units e.g. guitar pedals? These looks fantastic for musicians. Please consider a 'Mini-me' version for solo /minimal artists 😊👍
Hi Frank, You can! Recording/Streaming to USB-B and SD is always available. The only time the USB-B and SD need to switch is for playback - By default the digital input is from USB-B, but as soon as you start playback from the SD card (or USB-A) the CQ will automatically switch over to that as the digital input source instead. Thanks :) Keith.
Hi folks looking for some information, I'm looking to do an update on CQ12T. I want move the scene I have created over to the library so I can save it into a show and back up onto a USB. Any ideas on how do this?
Hi Tommy, Generally an update will not affect your stored scenes or libraries. However, if you're updating from the production/shipping firmware V1.0.1 to release firmware V1.1.0, the data is incompatible and a hard reset should be carried out following the update. If you need more information on this, please contact us directly through support.allen-heath.com. Thanks! Keith.
Hello, Is it possible to create a split channel on this mixer, like forward input signal from one input to several fader strip? I often use this on my SQ to make separate processing from vocalist input to the main PA and monitor. Thanks
The CQ system architecture is fix, so there is no way to internally split an input signal to multiple channels. This is possible on SQ because there is an I/O matrix. Unfortunately, the CQ does not have this feature, as is is a small compact mixer. To run a split on this console, you would need to set up and analogue split. Best, Luke
Hi Charlie, It is not possible to playback and record to the to the SD multitrack simultaneously. The only way in which you can achieve this would be to use a DAW. So, for what you propose would be to record live to the SD, then transfer the multi-track to a DAW to add additional tracks. This would be the only way to achieve this. Best regards, Luke
Hi, Yes, the CQ12T can be used as a 16×16 USB-B interface (48/96kHz). It runs compliant on Mac OS and a driver is require for Windows. Best regards, Luke
Hi Phillip, The TRS ALT OUT on the CQ-20B is assignable as a duplicate of any other (XLR) output, so as with all CQ's, the total number of processing outputs are stereo main LR plus 6 independent monitor outs. It's just that any of these can be sent to the ALT OUT too. Thanks, Keith.
Hello DJ Lenzo, Channels 17/18 will be ST 1 and channels 19/20 will be ST 2. The Offline or 'Demo' version is the generic version for all 3 models. As the CQ-20B is the only model that has ST 2, this will only be displayed next to the ST 1 if you are connected to a CQ-20B unit. Thank you, Rafael
Hello Troy, any channel is a blank canvas for you to accommodate your inputs as desired. Go to config/Inputs, select any Input socket and open the Library, then place yourself on the Quick tab and select the Quick preset for the instrument that you wish to have on the selected Input channel. Thank you, Rafael
Hi Alfred, If you're talking about inserting external plugins directly into channels, then no. But you can route any output to USB and then route a return back to a free input channel. For this kind of thing though, you'd ideally want an SQ and Waves option card which can be used with a Waves server for low latency external processing. Thanks, Keith.
How many mixes does this mixer has? Can I assign a limiter if I want to receive from the main mixer a signal from the band (excluding me) so I’ll be able to hear the band with my mix and if case the signal is too hot, the limiter will engage. This signal won’t be sent back to the main mixer
Hello Daniel, All three CQ models offer 6 Aux's + Main LR. All outputs do indeed include a Limiter on their processing, along with Compressor and the option of GEQ or PEQ+Feedback Suppressor. Thank you, Rafael
@@AllenandHeathUK hello Rafael, thanks for the reply. You mentioned that the outputs has limiter but does it has limiter on the input as well? If I was this mixer for my keys, I will send to the foh only a mix containing my keys. I would like to receive from the foh the rest of the band as a mono signal. I will use another mix to combine both my keys and the rest of the band, but I would like to add a limiter to this input in case the signal is over 0db, I would like to use this mixer as my in ear mixer…, so a limiter on the input is very important. Regards
Hello Vinyl, You can select the Input send point globally for a particular Output, this will be either Pre Fader or Post Fader. You can do this in CONFIG / OUTPUTS, select your Output socket and locate the "Input send level" box. Cheers, Rafael
Unfortunately, the main LR bus is fixed post-fade to the stereo record. The only way this can be achieved is to use a stereo-paired aux output as a dedicated record bus, with all faders to unity (0dB), plus, the aux bus running in post-fade mode. You then set the aux bus to the LR stereo record under config>USB/SD>Channel assignment. FYI, the aux sends are sourced pre-compressor from the input channel strips. So, this is something you may need to bear in mind. If you require further assistance with this, please reach out to us at support@allen-heath.com Many thanks, Luke
Can i get some serious answers about FBA. As i know its impossible to not hear feedback in order to FBA do his job. Any opinion what is better to use for live performance Fixed or Live mode? It make some sense for me for "fixed mode" because in live mode limits are removing automatically to old state.
The best practice for FBA use is described in the user guide here (www.allen-heath.com/content/uploads/2023/09/CQ_User_Guide_V1_1_0_iss1.pdf#page=42&zoom=auto,-361,555). We recommend using fixed filters during system setup, as this will help avoid feedback for the whole event, and if set up correctly no other filters will need to be added. Live filters recover because they're only intended to catch feedback which is a one-off here and there during the event. You can of course use either mode at any time, but to reiterate - best results will always be when FBA is used to add fixed filters at/before soundcheck. Thanks, Keith.

If the FX is set to ‘Shared’ mode. You simply navigate to the fader page and select the third bank to access the FX faders. You then set the output mix you want to send the FX level to and then turn up the corresponding FX fader. I hope this helps! Best, Luke
Sadly, the ZEDR16 is discontinued and has been for a few years now. We always try to support products the best way we can at the end of its lifecycle and offer software support for at least a couple of years past this. With ZEDR, however, it was unfortunate that The TC chip-set developer TC applied technologies were purchased by one of our direct competitors. So that, along with the fact the ZEDR was discontinued, put us in a tricky situation. It was for this reason that development for this product ceased. Though again, this only happened when the product had discontinued. Moving on and facing forward. Products such as the CQ are Core-audio compliant on Mac. So should work indefinitely for many years to come with no driver support required from us. This means no waiting for updates in-line with the Apple OS releases. For Windows there are solid ASIO drivers available online. If you would like some advice on workarounds for up-to-date OS integration on ZEDR please drop us a line, we’ll be happy to assist. @mosaidkhalid8634 Yes - the CQ has a USB-B audio interface that can be set to run in Stereo or Multichannel modes. For streaming, you can set this to stereo, then choose to send the main LR mix (or any other stereo output) from the CQ. At the computer you then select the CQ as your input device in whatever you're using to stream and you'll be good to go :) Cheers! Keith.
Hello Professor thunder, This has certainly been requested by other users and it's currently being analysed for the possibility of being added in a future Firmware release. Thank you, Rafael
I have two questions and they are:
Can I use the CQ-18T to replace all of this, and have my backingtracks on an SD card and play back 3 tracks from the SD Card? I would then route the stereo backingtrack to Aux Out 1-2 for FOH in addition to listening to it in my InEars.
Can I assign the three rotary knobs on the left of the screen to adjust fader volume of any channels in the CQ-18T - for instance Backing Track, Click Track and Monitor Input from FOH? That way I can have easy access to adjust my monitor mix while I am playing, without having to use the touchscreen.
Hello Vegard,
Yes, you can indeed use the CQ for your setup, running tracks from an SD card. Please make sure to follow the SD Card specifications stated on the User Manual.
You can indeed assign level to the 3 soft rotary knobs in the surface.

Great demo, thank you.
Question I have the allen an health cq 20b is the blue light suppose to be blue an blinking all the time asking because after mine been on for awhile the light turns solid green an I lose connection an things like that. An is there a better way to turn up the gain from the rounds controls on the app it hard to do
Hello Jahmon,
The Blue LED blinking indicates that the unit is currently in Factory mode.
Once you access the App and you configure the Network settings, the LED should turn Green to indicate that the Network settings have been established.

What about in the mobile app how to turn up an down the gain the circle ones
An is the greenlight supposed to stay on the entire time are go off mines awhile will go off the mixer still works though just curious
@@AllenandHeathUK no worries. Thanks for the explanation!
What is the latency performance when recording with the CQ-18T as an audio interface on a new silicon Mac using Logic? Using the USB 2.0 standard I expect that latency performance is not as good as the fastest TB or USB 3 standards..! But it would be nice to know the actual numbers! :)
Hello Acoustic Landscapes,
Round Trip Latency for USB B connection to a computer device is:
10ms @256 samples buffer / 96kHz sample rate
18ms @256 samples buffer / 48kHz sample rate

Is it possible to save a scene? Full band set up for a show. I currently have a QSC Touchmix 16 and simply need to recall all my settings at different venues…example we play club A 4 times a year, just need to recall those settings when we play there All shows/Scenes are stored on the board, just need to recall.
Hi Danny, Yes, you can store up to 100 Scenes in the CQ at one time. All of these are stored in a Show and I'm sure there's a maximum number of Shows that can be stored to a drive... but we haven't come across it yet! Thanks, Keith.

@@AllenandHeathUK
Yes please
Please fix the Bluetooth issue with these
Just got an 18T a few days ago. It looks really promising. I'm still learning how to run it and I've got three gigs this weekend! I do live recording and sound reinforcement for vocal groups here in New Haven Connecticut USA. A few things I found surprising:
When you link two input channels, the odd channel goes hard left, and the even channel goes hard right.
Thank you!
Hello Evensteve,
There is no option to adjust the PAN level once channels are linked as stereo or to unlink the PAN, I'm afraid.
Time Stamps are not a feature on the recording system, but you are always welcome to drop a message with this as a suggestion on our Feature suggestions section, in our community forum, where our product managers will look into it and review: community.allen-heath.com/forums/forum/cq/cq-feature-suggestions
Thank you,
Rafael
@@evensteve284I would like to second you motion.
Its still just the mono signal coming from both sides." )
No, I don't think that at all. I run my house sound in MONO. I record the mid and figure of eight microphones on seperate tracks. When I get to Post, I duplicate the side track, flip the phase, pan those tracks hard left and right, add the mid track and bingo I have stereo. My clients LOVE IT.
("Its still just the mono signal coming from both sides.")
When I gang two faders, I want the convenience of having the volume and the EQ controlled together.
@@AllenandHeathUK wow so this is how it’s supposed to be done. Thank you. Life lesson here !
Is there a simple device to connect to the USB-B port (acting as host) and convert the stereo feed to AES? That + the BMD Audio to SDI would allow me to get this into my video switcher fully digitally, which would be awesome for avoiding potential clipping during the D/A then A/D conversion.
Will there be an overdubbing feature update like Tascam or zoom / multitracking
If that’s the case - I will splash the cash deco
Is there a Dante connectivity in these models?
Hello,
CQ does not have integration with Dante protocol.
I recommend looking into SQ and the Dante Card:

WHY wouldn't you make this expandable or linkable?? Similar question...is this firmware/software technology getting released across your line of other digital mixers? Really want to buy one of these for the software (autogain, feedback cancel), but not enough channels.
Hi Jeff,
In short, the extra hardware and core power required to enable expansion and/or linking of the CQ would increase the price of it for everyone, including those who don't need or want that functionality.

I'm also unhappy about the TRS outs. I'm surprised why did they do it?
I have another question about pass through from a daw via USB how many output channels can I have for example. Backing track from daw into the console through 1-2 but I’d want to send a click to our monitors to 3-4 ? Does that make sense and is that possible.
Hello Ganesh,
Yes, this is possible.
Depending on the model, you can stream up to 24 channels over the USB interface from your DAW to the console. Once the signals are on your console, you can send them to your LR or Monitors as you desire.

As a minimum, we recommend sourcing Class 10 SD storage, with at least UHS speed class 1, to guarantee minimum write speeds of 10MB/s.
These should be easy to source from retailers and include the following markings/icons
10 in a C and 1 in a U
The card will either need to be formatted on the mixer or a computer to the FAT32 files system before it will be operational on the mixer.

When will you upload the user manual onto your web site ?
Hello David,
The Reference Guide will be available on our website in the upcoming days!
Thank you,
Rafael
Got it today 09 13, thanks.
Five questions please:
1) How much current is available at the USB port ?
Does the recording happen in 96k - or 48k - or - ?. Or are you offered a choice like on the SQ?
Hello John,
The console processes audio at 96kHz, this is fixed.
However, the USB/SD interface can be configured at 96kHz and 48kHz to accommodate files on these two Sample Rates.

Late question here. iPad audio over usb to the desk, I play with backing tracks that are split Click RIGHT and Backing Track LEFT. Can these be used without the click going to FOH?
Hi Joe,
Yes, this should be straight forward. If you are splitting a stereo feed to two mono parts, then you simply route this into two separate mono inputs. You can then route one to LR and the other to which ever bus you want.
I hope this helps!

What's the best way to connect and configure the inputs from a DJ mixer like Pioneer DJM-900NX2 for best quality?
Hi Giovanni,
The best way to connect a DJ mixer to the CQ is to run FMXLR to TRS, into the stereo input of the CQ. As this input is ready to go as a stereo line-level input.
I hope this helps!

I am curious as to the comparison of this unit with the TouchMix by QSC? Any chance that anyone has compared these yet?

do i need di box for bass and guitar input? just wondering if i need to buy di box or not. just wondering if i can just plug my guitar or bass in directly and still get good sound quality without noise or distortion.
Hi,
Thanks for the message,
CQ20-B has built-in HiZ inputs on channels 15 & 16. These do not require an additional DI. However, the 12T and 18T models do not have this feature and will require DI for High-impedance signals.

Hi Jeff,
The CQ core will typically run at around 70C. Note that the min/max figures shown in the info section, tell you the min and max temperature measured since the unit was last booted.
It would be cool to have even more options for control, but we purposefully keep the audio and app control data separate to avoid potential issues with bandwidth and dropouts of either.
The idea for having the CQ as a client on a wireless network is nice - it would be great if you could add this to the feature suggestions section of our digital community here - community.allen-heath.com/forums/forum/cq/cq-feature-suggestions

Can I record the inputs coming from the USB input (DAW) to the SD card multitrack recorder?
Hi Frank, You can! Recording/Streaming to USB-B and SD is always available. Hi Tommy,
Generally an update will not affect your stored scenes or libraries. Hello,
Is it possible to create a split channel on this mixer, like forward input signal from one input to several fader strip? I often use this on my SQ to make separate processing from vocalist input to the main PA and monitor.
Thanks
The CQ system architecture is fix, so there is no way to internally split an input signal to multiple channels. This is possible on SQ because there is an I/O matrix. Unfortunately, the CQ does not have this feature, as is is a small compact mixer.
To run a split on this console, you would need to set up and analogue split.

Am I able to record live and later add other tracks?
Hi Charlie,
It is not possible to playback and record to the to the SD multitrack simultaneously. The only way in which you can achieve this would be to use a DAW. So, for what you propose would be to record live to the SD, then transfer the multi-track to a DAW to add additional tracks. This would be the only way to achieve this.

Can the Alt output be used as an independent output to feed Subs for example?
Hi Phillip, The TRS ALT OUT on the CQ-20B is assignable as a duplicate of any other (XLR) output, so as with all CQ's, the total number of processing outputs are stereo main LR plus 6 independent monitor outs. It's just that any of these can be sent to the ALT OUT too. Thanks, Keith.
On the cq 20b, I downloaded the app just for fun.
It doesn't show channel 19/20.
Does channel 17/18 control 19 & 20 as well? Thank you.
Hello DJ Lenzo,
Channels 17/18 will be ST 1 and channels 19/20 will be ST 2.
The Offline or 'Demo' version is the generic version for all 3 models. As the CQ-20B is the only model that has ST 2, this will only be displayed next to the ST 1 if you are connected to a CQ-20B unit.

does the cq supports external daw live plugins like waves super rack performar
Hi Alfred,
If you're talking about inserting external plugins directly into channels, then no. But you can route any output to USB and then route a return back to a free input channel.
For this kind of thing though, you'd ideally want an SQ and Waves option card which can be used with a Waves server for low latency external processing.

How many mixes does this mixer has?
Can I assign a limiter if I want to receive from the main mixer a signal from the band (excluding me) so I’ll be able to hear the band with my mix and if case the signal is too hot, the limiter will engage.

How to increase recording level without increasing main RL fader?
Unfortunately, the main LR bus is fixed post-fade to the stereo record. The only way this can be achieved is to use a stereo-paired aux output as a dedicated record bus, with all faders to unity (0dB), plus, the aux bus running in post-fade mode. You then set the aux bus to the LR stereo record under config>USB/SD>Channel assignment.
FYI, the aux sends are sourced pre-compressor from the input channel strips. So, this is something you may need to bear in mind.

How to send fx to aux cq18
If the FX is set to ‘Shared’ mode. You simply navigate to the fader page and select the third bank to access the FX faders. You then set the output mix you want to send the FX level to and then turn up the corresponding FX fader.
I hope this helps!
Best,
Luke
OK, you make good stuff. but since you cut the software support of my zed r 16, we are doomed to old computers. what will this be?

Can i use this mixer to stream out our mix to social media like instagram live or youtube ?
@mosaidkhalid8634
Yes - the CQ has a USB-B audio interface that can be set to run in Stereo or Multichannel modes. For streaming, you can set this to stereo, then choose to send the main LR mix (or any other stereo output) from the CQ. At the computer you then select the CQ as your input device in whatever you're using to stream and you'll be good to go :)
Cheers! Keith.
@@AllenandHeathUK beautiful!! But how can i adjust the sound from the usb b?
@AllenandHeathUK
MIDI is Imperative!
Hello Professor thunder,
This has certainly been requested by other users and it's currently being analysed for the possibility of being added in a future Firmware release.
Thank you,
Rafael
