    Is this PLC IO Module requires multicast configuration from the Router? What is the required MTU size? can the MTU size changed? Will two PLC from site A to site B communicate if they were linked via IPsec Tunnel? Thank you for the answer.

    Is it must to set an up address to the Sim -IPE or it can stay in configured.

      You should configure an IP address for the SIM-IPE before using it. It isn't necessary for the discovery features but it is for any of the more advanced features such as assigning IP addresses and pinging.

    Hi, what is the Set Static IP option in there? can I use that for setting the IP of the target device instead of using BOOTP/ DHCP option?

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Do you mean change a static IP address such as in this video? plctools.com/change-a-static-ip-address-of-an-allen-bradley-compactlogix-5370-plc/

      @@TimWilborne No. I was referring to the third option "Set IP Static".
      On the IP Explorer device, under 'Assign Address' there are 5 options, where 1. Use BOOTP/ DHCP | 2. Replace Stat. IP | 3. Set IP Static.
      I was wondering if third option would work? instead of using first option i.e., "Use BOOTP/ DHCP" option?

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That option would set an IP address to static that had been previously assigned by DHCP or BOOTP.

    Can this device read and write to CCTV cameras

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I can't say for sure. I know some people do use them to set up CCTV camera's initial IP addresses via DHCP...but the Set Static feature would not work...they then go to the camera's web page and finish configuring it.
      I don't know enough about any particular brand to say for sure.

    will this work with Siemens RF181-C Enet modules?

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm not familiar with that device but it looks like it follows the Ethernet/IP protocol. As long as it fully supports Ethernet/IP then you should be able to set an IP address to static and change a static IP address.

    Does the sim IPE work with automation Direct’s Click, Brx PLC’s and/or Protos X?

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The read function and bootp/dhcp assign IP function would work. I'm unsure if the set to static or change static function would work with them. It would depend on how much of the Ethernet/IP protocol they have implemented. I don't think the Click supports Ethernet/IP but the BRX and Protos do.

    • @mumbles1justin
      @mumbles1justin 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I know they added support for ethernet/ip on click’s this year or last year. I just ordered one of the sim ipe’s. So I guess Ill find out soon what its capable of :-)

    Will it work with abb irc5 robot controller?

    • @TimWilborne
      @TimWilborne  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Chad. The Read Unknown IP Address function should work along with the Assign via BOOTP/DHCP. I'm not familiar enough with the IRC5 controller to say about the Set to Static or Replace Static IP feature. It does support Ethernet/IP which would mean is should, it just depends on how close to the guidelines ABB follows. Thanks for watching!
