I think this goes to everybody that before you become the strongest part of your being, you went through struggles the life of being the weakest.. and this molds of who we are today.. Life ain't easy but we are all soldiers at one point.
I recommend you to react with THE JUAN's music as well you'll gonna love them too. SB19 and the Juan's were like brother's with the same goals in music to the world
The pains they had to go through are blessings in disguise because those strengthened their resolve to work hard in their craft and to support each other to succeed. Those trials also kept them humble and grateful for every good thing that come their way.
You have to see CASHUAL CHUCK DOCUMENTARY. THE STORY OF SB19.!!! It has 5 episodes but it has 6 video because there is an episode 0-ghost, episode 1- soundbreak, episode 2- the zone, episode 3-the wave, episode 4- monster, and episode 5- fate. Welcome to the world of A'TIN! Goodluck on your channel. By the way Pablo is my bias!
What? MV is really a game-changer for the whole PPop community. SB19 set the standard so high. Everybody really anticipated it that it reached 1.7M views 24 hrs after it was released. And don't forget to watch What? The Making Of series (Ep1-6) so that you could appreciate more all of their hardwork.
Your reaction upon hearing the stories of each SB19 member, their humble beginnings, their sacrifices and struggles to get to where they are now clearly shows that you have empathy, and that takes a lot of heart.
Ken shared more deets in Doug Brock interview about how difficult his life was the first years he came to Manila to be part of SB19. He slept in his aunt’s living room under a chair on something like a tatami mat and during rainy season, the living room got flooded coz it so happened that it was under renovation, and so he would spend the night scooping out water and would try to sleep standing in a very small corner where it was not dripping with water, and at the break of dawn, he had to cook breakfast, walk his cousin to school, before he could prep up for work, commute far to the studio, then subject himself to the rigorous training.
Knowing how hard they pushed themselves to be this excellent makes it easy for me to love them. Of course, they are immensely talented! I can’t imagine life without them, their music and their continuing contribution to humanity - especially to the lives of Filipinos. Thank you for finding the boys and appreciating them. 🎉❤😊
Just those KPOP fans that kept bashing them till now...We( A'tin ) have been mass reporting those people on facebook every now and then..They are rude, very very very rude...It's actually ken that they always attacking bcoz of his skin color and his tattoos saying that, idol shouldn't have tattoos🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️...50% of people in PH is kpop lovers...Sad reality...No wonder sb19 has more foreigner fans😊
It's shocking that even until today, colorism is so strong in the Philippines. And the mentality that many Filipinos look down on their own people and look up to others, before it was American stars, and now it is KPop stars. Because of that inferiority complex, many Filipinos will bash those among them that are "too" successful because they believe they don't belong up there, instead of being proud of them. And seeing how they increase International respect for Filipinos.
Yeah sadly, most of their bashers our very own countrymen. So we have this so called mantra inside the fandom the 1 bash = multiple blessings to SB19. Cuz everytime there's someone who tried to drag them down. GOD lifted them up 10 folds. And I do believe that SB19 is highly favored from up above.
The Juans is a local band here in PH too, you may want to check out their songs, they're one of the best too! They worked with TM ads before and they clicked well together and turned best buddies of SB19. It's fun always when they work together mostly with TM, both groups are endorser of the TM telecom. Their TM tracks are great stuffs too! That's why this podcast/interview so chill and relax, they were just normal chit-chatting friends. They are always chaotic-fun together.
Philippines as any other countries have the highs and the lows. But you will always hear stories like this how they break the mentality of just being poor. You can't get out of it if you keep thinking about your situation. That is why as they say they want to be an example of hope for every Filipinos who have dreams. Opportunities will always be there so it is up to you how you deal with it. So it is not who you are, where you are, this won't define what you can and capable of. Even those Korean idols have the same story of being poor. But Philippines were made to think living here means you are poor. This country have all resources that it needed but it was set on the mind of the people how hopeless we are with all the external factors. Believe in yourself before you believe on anyone. That is why WHAT? for me is very patriotic and meaningful. We were a great country and we still are, the period of colonionalism has diverted our significance. It is time to raise the flag.
The Juans & SB19 are real friends! Kwento Juan episodes 5 & 6 hit my heart love MAHALIMA even more .. never get tired watching these... can't wait watching your RV for episode 6. thank you for this. WHAT ERA A'tin here,,, hope you consider reacting to WHAT the making videos (5 videos) and be amazed 🥰
Loved your takeaways from their stories. Really, once you learn about their humble beginnings, you start seeing them in a different light. You begin to understand that in all the stages these guys step foot on, all the trappings can disappear and there will still be gems worth seeing...those 5 rare human beings who have triumphed over adversity to pursue their dreams.
Thank you for knowing more about them Richards. It's nice rewatching these with you. Now that you mentioned it, they really did not change at all and are still on track of their ultimate goal of introducing Filipino talents. I love this trait of theirs so so much. I just wanna say that whenever someone says that "SB19 was hated and still is hated by their own kind", it's not an exaggeration at all. They were belittled and judged. But despite the hate they received from here, they still are loyal to Filipinos. Everything they do, patriotism is really in them and it's just so admirable.
To give you an idea, Stell's commute can take from 1.5 to 3 hours and that is only one-way. So even before debuting as SB19, you can really feel his dedication to go to school and help his family.
Yes, life can be quite hard in the Philippines, which is why 10 million Filipinos work or have settled abroad while 100 million live in the country. There can be a lot of discrimination as well: towards those like Stell who was probably bullied by those who thought he was too feminine as some in the Philippines can be very macho; bullying towards Gigi might have been because she was living alone with her mother separated from her father and the more conservative types didn't like that; Josh felt unlucky because he had a very hard life - his rap sounds so angry and real because he has experienced street life and was extremely poor, and there are indeed people in the Philippines who treat poor people like garbage; Ken is a country boy from a remote area, his native language is not Tagalog and he has a strong accent in it - some people from Manila laugh at people who have other accents or come from poor parts of the country. But then again, not surprising that great music comes out of the Philippines. Sometimes great art comes from pain. Some other artists with very simple origins are Katrina Velarde who comes from the slum areas of Manila, Bugoy Drilon who is a country boy just like Ken and worked as a janitor in the big city. Poverty is one major reason why singing contests in the Philippines are so highly competitive.
Nice watching you deep dive into them more by watching more interviews of them. Thanks for making the effort too. We love them bcoz they are so relatable. They've been through different struggles that ordinary people went through also in life.
Thanks for taking the time to really get to know them, Richard! :) And yes please watch "WHAT" MV and the making docus that they have. It's the song the got them nominated on Billboards. 20 M views as of todayI think :)
Ken has a more in-depth interview thru DougbrockTV. It's more than 2 hrs but you will learn more about the things that he has gone thru. He just didn't sleep on the floor but literally outside the house. His aunt's house was under construction that time so he has no choice. There were nights that he woke up wet from the rains. So heartbreaking!
It's good you watched this, it gives a better understanding of where they came from. Just regular people who have struggled like all of us. Hard work and a belief in themselves and look at them now. ❤
Yes! Watch WHAT? Available also in thier official is the BTS of WHAT? There are a lot of gems in thier official. Even WYAT has BTS. Eventually I know you'll get there.
Thank you so much for appreciating them and wanting to know what they’ve been through-I can see your sincerity and your empathy, and I gladly support your channel as you support our boys💙
