Also if you want to understand more of the world there was a side show called World of Remnant to help flesh out some world-building details that are important to the show. If you read through the credits the Red trailer has like 5 people total. It was really close to a Monty solo project and then they built it out as they worked up to full production, which they didn't really hit full stride until about season 2 or 3.
Fun fact - all of the original trailers are actually canon, and referenced throughout the series! But you don't really need them to understand the show. For the red trailer, that's kind of what huntresses in training do. So no real doubt that Ruby actually bodied a bunch of lower-level monsters like that. I won't spoil anything, but there are details later in the series that confirm that Weiss fought and killed the Arma Gigas (the living armor thing in the White trailer). It's funny because a lot of people wondered if the fight was more of a metaphor for something Weiss might have been struggling with, but it's kind of confirmed that the fight in the White trailer did actually happen, literally. The black Trailer is kind of connected to not just the series proper, but also, the Yellow trailer. When Yang is questioning Junior, she says, "Tell me where I can find her, and I'll let you go." On Yang's scroll, you can see a picture of Blake from the back. So, Yang was actually looking for Blake because of the train robbery. Weiss, during the latter portion of Volume 1, talks about what the White Fang did to make her childhood worse, and one of the things she listed was, "An entire train car full of dust - stolen," which is a direct reference to the Black Trailer. It's heavily implied that she was referring to the one that happened in the Black trailer, specifically. In the Yellow trailer, we briefly see Torchwick talking to Junior before Yang walks up to the bar and has her interrogation session with him. Most likely, this was Torchwick hiring his goons seen in the trailer for the dust store robbery in Episode 1. Junior's club also appears in Volume 2, but just from the outside, and I believe Junior is name-dropped during that volume. But, it's been a while since I watched it, so I don't really remember 100%.
Blake's weapon is weird. It's a Ninjato with a pistol in the hilt that transforms into a kusarigama with a pistol in the hilt, except the kusarigama's chain is a ribbon instead. And her sheath is bladed, defeating the purpose of having a sheath but allowing her to dual wield by using the sheath in one hand. As for Blake leaving, it's kind of spelled out in the trailer: Adam: Move up to the next car. I'll set the charges. Blake: What about the crew members? Adam: What _about_ them?
Good catch, All the music adds to the feel and story of RWBY either by adding context, feelings or filling in blanks in things. Fun Fact: Almost all if not a lot of the early work for RWBY especially the fight animations were done by Monty Oum himself. Another good catch was the song in the Yellow Trailer for Yang, It starts out as a remix but her actual song "I Burn" comes in at the very end when she faces off with Junior; and is only sampled rather than played in full like the other team members trailer songs. Maybe due in part to the trailer theme being in a night club. Highly recommend giving the soundtrack a listen if yall haven't heard all of it yet.
Gotta admit it’s kinda legendary to see y’all react to alllll the trailers. Lmaoo sure you may catch a spoiler or 2 but the way the show is you’ll honestly only have a hint of remembrance by the time you actually reach the later seasons
Rwby also has its own game, but yeah Arc System which did Dragon Ball fighter Z, Guilty Gear, and Blazeblue (which cross tag battle is a large collab game :p).
Something I love about Weiss’s character short are the giveaways of the flashback - the old outfit, the opening shot that focuses on her face and shows her scar is gone, and the fact her ponytail is dead-center rather than off (she started wearing the side pony as a little form of asymmetry and rebellion). But moreover, her fighting style is less of a fencer or a red mage, and more of a dancer who’s got a sword in hand. You can tell it’s early in her training, because she’s trying to apply a flair that’s really ill-suited for combat. The same goes for Yang’s, in a different way - she’s way less strategic, more “hit it head on until it breaks.” We see a lot more kicks, grappling, and strategy during the Yellow Trailer, or even when she fought those two Ursai in volume 1.
I used RWBY to get my sister into animations. Ive yet to be bored enjoying the series. Monty had such an awesome style and made an incredible world. And yes y'all should watch RvB. The OG series that showed all you need is a couple of friends and a willingness to put it out there
Quick reminder that Casey lee williams was 13ish years old when she sang red like roses. (Even younger for some of the Red vs Blue songs). Rwby continues to be my favorite soundtrack.
Monty is, even now, still probably the best at what he did. I've never seen anyone surpass his abilities and RWBY was a great way at seeing it - his fight scenes and imagination in them. On another note, you should definitely watch Red vs. Blue. At least the first 13 seasons along with the small spin offs such as Recovery One and the one just before that taking place right around season 5. You'll love the humor, the insane plot, and the later action. Please, at least the first 10 seasons.
Ooooh RWBY reactions have finally started on TH-cam, nice, hope it does well here. For those of you not subbed to their Patreon, they're already on volume 5! EDIT: They posted the V1 binge a month ago, which I forgor, but my excuse is that since I’m a patron, I don’t check the YT channel anymore. Don’t know why they posted this so late though.
1:12 one of the things I like about the song is this Red like roses fills my dreams and brings me to the place you rest (ruby) White is cold and allways yearning, burdened by a royal test (Weiss) Black the beast descends from shadows (Blake) Yellow beauty burn gold (yang)
Pretty sure if they were told to watch the trailers, they were supposed to stop with the first 4. But if they wanna pre-watch for future volumes why not?
....oh god there going on a 10 year jerony that will only take them a few months lol youll love the show, also its nice to see montys work bringing joy to new fans
Blake's weapon is based on a Kusarigama, with a pistol as the grip; the blade able to extend into a katana/wakizashi. Its sheath also has one edge sharpened into another sword blade. The weapons all have names, btw, although not all of them have been stated in the show itself yet: Ruby - Crescent Rose (sniper rifle/scythe) Weiss - Myrtenaster (rapier, with a revolver cylinder for Dust cartridges) Blake - Gambol Shroud (see above) Yang - Ember Celica (shotgun gauntlets, fairly self-explanatory) Most, if not all, of the other main characters' weapons are also named, but these are the only ones I know offhand.
For your question about the RWBY anime, Ice Queendom, I think you guys should watch it if you want more RWBY content later on down the road. It’s a rewrite of volume 1 that follows both the main story and an alternate plotline. I actually really like it.
There was one more character trailer, but it looks like it wasn't in that playlist. And good thing too, because it's set post V5, and almost certainly *would* have spoiled you.
Gambol fits inside shroud. It's a gunsword that fits into a sheath. The sheath is also sharpened so she can use it as a weapon. At the beginning, she's weilding her weapon sheathed
I was so hyped when I first saw the Red trailer. Up until then, I've only seen Monty Oum's personal animations and Red vs Blue. All of a sudden there's this entirely new show spearheaded by him personally. You better believe I watched Red trailer a gazillion times. I'm more of a 2D animation guy but Monty Oum's work transcends medium. His choreography work is legendary and unfortunately for me, Roosterteeth has never been able to emulate that level of awesomeness. So I gradually waned off of these shows. Also, when you guys mentioned Final Fantasy, I remembered something. At some point (I think after Volume 2 or 3), I'd love to see you guys react to Yang vs Tifa Death Battle. Great fight regardless of who you're cheering for. And honestly, maybe Monty's Dead Fantasy series? It's a series of 'Dead or Alive' vs 'Final Fantasy' fight animations.
Yang has a full version of her theme called “I Burn” but they couldn’t use the whole thing because when the singer wrote and performed the song they didn’t know it needed to be pg-13 and dropped some F-bombs but it’s still one of my favorite songs worth a listen
It's incredible that you guys *noticed* Yang's missing arm and *still* didn't get spoiled on it. I'd be surprised if I hadn't seen that exact thing happen before, for a completely different series.
Monty did the Red trailer by himself in his free time as a proof of concept. It did so well that they started planning for a whole series. The singer, Casey, for the White trailor was only 14 at the time. Obviously, they'd started hiring VAs by the Black trailor, and they were prepping for the series by Yellow. The trailers were shown in the year leading up to the series premier.
Ive already caught up with the reactions on the website but rewatching this just reminds me how upset I was that they kept watching after realizing it was past where they were. Them prewatch allegations can't be denied then 😂
Ruby semblence kicked in one day during training :D now we got to see when that happened. :D Yang' semblence lets her take damage and dish it back 2x as hard but as long as she can either stay consiouse or survive the attack.
you can safely watch ice queendom after volume 3 but some things do have a little more context if you wait till after volume like 5. but those have to be edited carefully because the music will get copyrighted if you play too much. would love to see ice queendom reactions at some point.
Bit late for this video but I too would love to see Red vs Blue reactions! Although I would highly consider some other old Rooster Teeth series, like Camp-Camp, I think you'd have a blast with that show. I also recommend Immersion, Day 5, Nomad of Nowhere, Gen:Lock (ONLY SEASON 1, Season 2 the creative control was taken away from RT) and there's a bunch of other things I'd love to recommend from their now old/archived library!
I was kinda wary of y'all watching every trailer before the actual seasons themselves but honestly the trailers show a lot of cool stuff without revealing some of the bigger story beats. super hype for more of y'alls RWBY reactions
4:50 I just love that the scar over Weiss's eye shows that the trailer is conon. 6:12 I believe this was her test to get her dad's approval to attend Beacon.
@@Cristoreka.2030LEEK there are some flaws don’t get us wrong, but it’s also one of the shows that really shows off Monty’s choreography during fights in the mid seasons.
@@haseo12161 I can’t distinctly remember what season it was that Monty took over the animation, I want to say it was season seven, but I know for a fact he had already passed by season 11 in the chorus storyline.
I remember when the Red Trailer dropped and no one had any idea what was going on, other than the guy who did Dead Fantasy was involved. Which, for me, was enough to know it would be really cool looking.
Rooster Teeth was no mere TH-camr. They pre-date TH-cam by years several years, hosted their videos on their own website til they got shut down. They proved that online video was a viable career path, and that content creators could think and aim bigger. Tons of early TH-camrs expressly credit Rooster Teeth as paving the way forward for them. Also here's a fun fact, the Red Trailer debut at the end of RvB Season 10's finale.
If you wanna see a game trailer with team RWBY I would highly recommend the BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle trailers, an anime-styled beat 'em up game that combined a few fighting games into one (namely BlazBlue, Persona 4 Arena and Undernight Inbirth). Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang were original-cast roster members for that game with Neo Politan coming in as a season 2 guest character (which had a small roster of villains added)
The choreography is thanks to the one and only Monty Oum, the show's creator (May he rest in peace. He died during the production of volume three back around 2005). His fight scenes are top notch. You should check out his Dead Fantasy series, which he produced himself. There is nothing else like it. Rooster Teeth also put out a tribute to him when he died, you should check that out too. P.S. You shouldn't of watched anything more than the first four trailers if you are only about to start season 2.
I miss Monty's fight coreo so much...if you guy's have the time, check out Dead Fantasy 1-6. It's his solo work that got him the job at Rooster Teeth when they saw it blow up on youtube. #3 is my favorite. That hand to hand...chef's kiss.
I've been reading the comments so it seems like you weren't actually spoiled thankfully. Can't wait for your reaction to the end of volume 3!!!! Love your channel 😊
Read a few of your replies to the comments, and while I'm glad y'all seem to have forgotten the spoilers from future season stuff. (which was very little tbh) I do hope you at least didn't forget the first 4 trailers. As they are actual stuff that is NOT in the show. And act as a sort of prologue. 😅 Never seen someone react to trailers for future seasons of a show before actually even starting the first season though. Very weird experience for sure.
So Gambit Shroud (Blake’s Weapon) is a large cleaver sheath, that holds a smaller sword with a pistol hilt that can collapse into a whip and be shot. So basically she can dual wield by unsheathing her weapon.
"How did she skip 2 grades?" "She casually visits places on patch and just murders like 15-20 Grimm with a smirk. Frankly we're afraid to leave her unsupervised."
The reason to watch the trailers before watching the show is because there is important information on the characters in the trailers, especially in the ones for Weiss and Blake. I mean, people who watched and paid attention to the White Trailer have tend to have a very different opinion and understand why Weiss is acting the way she is in Volume 1 rather than just assuming she's being mean. Also, just an FYI, that armor she's fighting is being possessed by a Grimm we'll see later on in the series and it is VERY impressive that she was able to defeat it on her own here. The same type of Grimm needed an entire team to defeat it later on in the series. It was also not training. She had to defeat it or else her asshole father wouldn't let her go to Beacon.

Gotta admit it’s kinda legendary to see y’all react to alllll the trailers. Lmaoo sure you may catch a spoiler or 2 but the way the show is you’ll honestly only have a hint of remembrance by the time you actually reach the later seasons
I swear I thought you guys already watched the trailers. But I’ve watched a bunch of people react to them, so my brain probably mashed them up.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought this
Definitely shouldn't have watched "every" trailer but I'm glad you are getting hyped for it.
Okay my brain was like? Did they forgot to upload this lol but no hahaha 😅 and fun fact rwby Is in a fighting game btw called blazeblue crosstag
The first four trailers will never not be iconic.
I used RWBY to get my sister into animations. Ive yet to be bored enjoying the series. Monty had such an awesome style and made an incredible world. And yes y'all should watch RvB. The OG series that showed all you need is a couple of friends and a willingness to put it out there
Yes, there are Nora fans. My nephew being one of them. He bought a pullover and headphones inspired by Nora
The singer was 14 if I’m correct when she started singing for this series! Her dad was the electric guitarist.
12 at recording the first trailer, I think.
Don’t know why they posted this so late though.
these trailers making me wanna play the rwby game ong
I learned of RWBY from bbTag 😂😂
1:12 one of the things I like about the song is this
Red like roses fills my dreams and brings me to the place you rest (ruby)
White is cold and allways yearning, burdened by a royal test (Weiss)
Black the beast descends from shadows (Blake)
Yellow beauty burn gold (yang)
Pretty sure if they were told to watch the trailers, they were supposed to stop with the first 4. But if they wanna pre-watch for future volumes why not?
I am soooooo excited to see more RWBY reactions and looking forwards to your reactions to Qrow, he's one of my favourite characters after team RWBY !!
....oh god there going on a 10 year jerony that will only take them a few months lol youll love the show, also its nice to see montys work bringing joy to new fans
I would be 100% down for red vs blue reactions.
Blake's weapon is based on a Kusarigama, with a pistol as the grip; the blade able to extend into a katana/wakizashi. Its sheath also has one edge sharpened into another sword blade.
The weapons all have names, btw, although not all of them have been stated in the show itself yet:
Ruby - Crescent Rose (sniper rifle/scythe)
Weiss - Myrtenaster (rapier, with a revolver cylinder for Dust cartridges)
Blake - Gambol Shroud (see above)
Yang - Ember Celica (shotgun gauntlets, fairly self-explanatory)
Most, if not all, of the other main characters' weapons are also named, but these are the only ones I know offhand.
Im pretty sure Ironwoods guns are called Due Process, and Glyndas riding crop whip is The Disciplinarian 😅
For your question about the RWBY anime, Ice Queendom, I think you guys should watch it if you want more RWBY content later on down the road. It’s a rewrite of volume 1 that follows both the main story and an alternate plotline. I actually really like it.
They took watching the trailers very seriously. 😂🤣
I think there are a lot of spoilers without context so I think it's okay haha
God watching all four trailers again i watched rwby since the red trailer came out and seeing it now all again i wanna cry ❤ rwby truly is amazing
Fun fact. The girls in white and red were originally character designs for some of the main cast
Yang has a full version of her theme called “I Burn” but they couldn’t use the whole thing because when the singer wrote and performed the song they didn’t know it needed to be pg-13 and dropped some F-bombs but it’s still one of my favorite songs worth a listen
i love the fact that both ruby and yang both use the recoil and momentum of their weapons in their fighting style
Funny enough there's a trailer you missed too.
Justice League x RWBY: Super Heroes & Huntsmen
i always loved how they got cortana's voice actress.
Ive already caught up with the reactions on the website but rewatching this just reminds me how upset I was that they kept watching after realizing it was past where they were. Them prewatch allegations can't be denied then 😂
How many season are they on up too?
@@Number1_Icygirlthey should be starting five soon
Y'all lived up to your channel name.
That’s why it’s there.
2:33 yes I agree so clean I keep having to come back occasionally
You miss a main trailer of Adam past between vol4 and 5 or 5 and 6 I think.
Ruby semblence kicked in one day during training :D now we got to see when that happened. :D
Yang' semblence lets her take damage and dish it back 2x as hard but as long as she can either stay consiouse or survive the attack.
When did we see Ruby figure out her semblance?
you can safely watch ice queendom after volume 3 but some things do have a little more context if you wait till after volume like 5. but those have to be edited carefully because the music will get copyrighted if you play too much. would love to see ice queendom reactions at some point.
The first trailer for Ruby was done by Monty alone, no team to help him, and was designed to be more of a proof of concept.
lmao who told them to watch every trailer
I think they misinterpreted what we were asking for.
What did you think would happen when people unfamiliar with a series were told to watch all the trailers
Bit late for this video but I too would love to see Red vs Blue reactions! Although I would highly consider some other old Rooster Teeth series, like Camp-Camp, I think you'd have a blast with that show. I also recommend Immersion, Day 5, Nomad of Nowhere, Gen:Lock (ONLY SEASON 1, Season 2 the creative control was taken away from RT) and there's a bunch of other things I'd love to recommend from their now old/archived library!
the practical uses of gambol shroud (Blakes weapon) still gives me nightmares
I was kinda wary of y'all watching every trailer before the actual seasons themselves but honestly the trailers show a lot of cool stuff without revealing some of the bigger story beats. super hype for more of y'alls RWBY reactions
4:50 I just love that the scar over Weiss's eye shows that the trailer is conon.
6:12 I believe this was her test to get her dad's approval to attend Beacon.
I remember first seeing the Red trailer on the Red vs Blue season 10 finale. It was such a curveball and I was so excited for the show to release. 😊
I can't believe they watched all the trailers and character shows except the Adam character shot
We take what We can get, today is a good day
Once i realized they were watching all trailers
I thought oh man
They are going to get spoiled so hard 😂
We didn’t
Yeah, interestingly enough it didn't spoil much. Hell, they forgot about pretty much everything except Ilya.
“ let us know if you want us to watch red vs blue”
OF COURSE WE WANT YOU TO WATCH A RED VS BLUE!
oh my god you cant do this to me im gonna die if they do im gonna explode yay sorry for the exageration i like red vs blue is perfect series
@@Cristoreka.2030LEEK there are some flaws don’t get us wrong, but it’s also one of the shows that really shows off Monty’s choreography during fights in the mid seasons.
@@SpartanT6 don't you mean only in the first 3 season? I really wish I could have met Monty and get his signature. His signature is so unique.
Yes, There's going to be so many emotions on this rollercoaster
@@haseo12161 I can’t distinctly remember what season it was that Monty took over the animation, I want to say it was season seven, but I know for a fact he had already passed by season 11 in the chorus storyline.
2:20 Damn it!! If I can describe Red Trailer as anything, it's "badass" and "feelsgoodman."
Oh, you guys should definitely watch Red vs. Blue!
The fight in Weiss' trailer was a trial her father forced her to complete to earn permission to go to Beacon. She was not supposed to succeed.
Never seen someone react to trailers for future seasons of a show before actually even starting the first season though. Very weird experience for sure.
I DEFINITELY wanna see you guys react to red vs blue!
So Gambit Shroud (Blake’s Weapon) is a large cleaver sheath, that holds a smaller sword with a pistol hilt that can collapse into a whip and be shot.
So basically she can dual wield by unsheathing her weapon.
Monty was just built different when it came to choreography.
"How did she skip 2 grades?" "She casually visits places on patch and just murders like 15-20 Grimm with a smirk. Frankly we're afraid to leave her unsupervised."
Insert gif where everyone face palms, you were supposed to only watch the RED WHITE BLACK YELLOW trailers.
You guys should absolutely listen to the soundtracks. They all add story and character insight on top of being bangers.
