And I truly didn't think it could live up to the last four episodes, airing on the anniversary of the the date of MLP:FIM's first airing and it's own amazing title. Guess I was wrong...

Oh my god, when Applejack said "If mom and dad were here, they would be so proud" I got teary eyed and when Dashie started singing, I felt extremely happy and was about to let it out .But I started crying from the point were Rarity sang till the end.It takes alot to make me cry, I mean, im a freaking 15 year old, 6 foot, football player.I honeslty felt proud of them, even if they're just cartoon ponies.Thank you Amy.

Definitely the new best episode of the entire series. It managed to both turn Diamond into one of my favorite characters on the entire show (and prior to this episode, I absolutely loathed her), but it also made me squee for the first time since becoming a fan of this show.

I always liked her as well. It was obvious she was just a kid making dumb choices. The making fun of Scootaloo not being able to fly was pretty harsh, though.
Back when Show Stoppers aired, can you imagine people's reactions to having a CMC musical episode? We've come so far...
I actually is the best way to do the CMC I feel. It help reinforce the fact they plan to stay together and help the others. Think: They have shields as their cutie marks, with a slight variation for each specific one. Shields represent defense, protection, in short, being able to help. That's exactly what those cutie marks mean, and I love. I geeked out so bad when I saw this. Oh god did I squeal XD. I may one of the few that like the marks, but I feel it fits completely for these three!
This episode was outstanding, and I loved your commentary as well. They've really been knocking it out of the park this season over and over and over again. Definitely a fitting way to celebrate the show's 5th anniversary.

With so many songs shoved into this episode, it reminded me of the Magical Mystery Cure episode. But this was even better! Think of this episode as "Magical Mystery Cure Done Right."

This is actually a really good episode! It teaches us that the person you see on the outside isn't always what is in the inside. A lot of bullies might be in the same situation as Diamond Tiara.
Omg that's the fourth or fifth time I've watched the episode now and I still started bawling when they got their cutie marks. I'm starting to think I'm going to cry every time I see it...

I knew a girl and her mother while I was in elementary school that Diamond Tiara and Spoiled Rich kind of remind me of. The girl was my friend for a while until we ended up in the same home room and she couldn't stand that I was just as smart as her. You see, when it came to grades and favoritism with teachers, she was extremely competitive. It was never a competition for me but I got good grades just like her and my teachers all loved me so she started being really awful to me. A few years later, my mom told me that her mother was like that but worse. She apparently went to the school throwing a fit because her daughter got two points off the standardized test, demanding she be granted those points or be allowed to take it again instead of being proud of her child for scoring so well. After I heard that, I stopped hating the girl and just started feeling sorry for her.
FINALLY!!! SOMEONE who thinks those 2 are here to visit Rarity! I was thinking I would be the only one who made that connection!

I'm a DT fan, and I just knew her mother was a complete bitch, since her father seems a bit decent. I don't know why I was a fan of her. I guess because everyone needs to have a fan, even the bad guys, because maybe they're just misunderstood.
But holy shit, the CMC. I honestly thought they were gonna forever be Blank Flanks. And those cutie marks. They look weird, but I kinda get what they were going for. The shields with marks on them symbolize the Crusader part of the CMC. Their special talent is helping with cutie marks? Ehh, sounds good to me.

This proves one thing about Cutie Marks. There is now 3 ways for Cutie Marks to be earned and this fits well.
1. One accepts their true talent and want to do it the rest of their life.
2. One embraces what they WANT in life instead of their talent.
3. One embraces their talent/rejects their talent and embraces what they want in life what they want in life.
The CMC did number 3. They consciously knew what their talents were, but rejected them. The dreams during "Bloom and Gloom" showed that much for Sweetie and Scootaloo. They do remember their dreams when Luna is involved so they knew their talents but rejected them because they didn't want them. They later embrace what they wanted to do in life and their talents, shown by the symbols in the shields.

Also, is it just me, or during that last song; there's a line that says "Three crusaders driven to sea."

My reaction to this episode: A song at the beginning of the episode? Hmm. Wow, these facial expressions! Oh my gosh, Silver Spoon just left DT! That actually just happened! WHAT?!? Are they actually giving Diamond Tiara a SAD BACKSTORY?!? Are they going where I think they're going?!? More amazing facial expressions! .......are.......are they....... is this..... Oh my gosh. Her mother is there?!? Oh my gosh. OH MY GOSH! They're actually redeeming her! *Random, jumbled thoughts* Wait, are they...? WAIT, ARE THEY...? WAIT!!! .........aaaaaaaagh....Oh my gosh. They did. And it's amazing. *At that point, my mouth ceased to function as my mind tried to wrap itself around the fact that the CMC did in fact just get their cutie marks, and how brilliantly it was executed.*
And once again, it seems like the main plot of these past 2 seasons is about destiny:
Diamond Tiara teasing and presence is what made the CMC to be together in the 1st place, and it fits so well the her presence also helped them to achieve their goal
So, giving us the ultimate feels and redemption for Silver Spoon and Diamond Tiara wasn't enough, they had to top it off with the CMC getting their cutie marks. I CAN'T TAKE THESE FEELS ANYMORE.

For the longest time, I thought that the CMC were never going to get their cutie marks. I was glad that this episode proved me wrong. And on top of that, all the Diamond Tiara development was fantastic.

I think they'll be bigger in future episodes (after people keep mentioning this).
The reason why the cutiemarks aren't like what we expected is most likely because if they are the same, they will always be together and wont split up in other directions if they had different cutiemarks.
They do mean something. The shield represents them helping others achieve a cutiemark. As that seems to be like what they are going to do, that's how they got the cutiemarks, by helping someone else find out what their cutiemark meant instead of finding their own talent.
Sweetie bell's cutiemark represents her talent in singing.
Applebloom's cutiemark represents the apple family and the figure around it is supposed to represent a potion as her talent was going to be making potions with twilight.
Scootaloo's cutiemark Represent her talent in doing tricks and the lightning for her speed on the scooter as she can go like super speed with using her wings.

If they're the ones I think you're talking about, the promo marks were the cutie marks for the G3 versions of Scootaloo and Sweetie Belle (I believe Apple Bloom's was from a G3 pony too)

This episode had so many feels. I started crying watching this episode. 2 weeks in a row. I'm glad the CMC all got similar marks and at the same time. Shows how close they are. This one is really becoming my favorite episode ever.

This episode was so emotional I couldn't stop smiling.
The thing is that the pacing of the redemption wasn't really the best. That said I loved this episode, especially the Diamond Tiara solo song. It must have been really difficult for the artists to make a cutie mark that went as armonically as possible with the color schemes of the crusaders, I think that is part of why they look a little odd. But hey, if you watch closely the CMC basically have 3 cutie marks in one, if that isn't awesome I don't know what is.
I think this is the only reaction I've seen yet that isn't a huge freakout or scream of happiness.

This is my favorite episode out of the whole series. It was perfect for the 5 year anniversary of MLP and was just amazing. From seeing Diamond Tiara becoming nice and why she acts how she does. To having the CMC get their marks. This episode made me cry a lot. I will admit I loved Diamond Tiara before this episode as she was my favorite filly tied with Sweetie Bell, and this made me like her a lot more. Well done mlp, 5 years and you're doing a great job. Can't wait for season 6!

Is it just me or has the concept of social status practically destroyed all forms of society, over the centuries?
Seriously, the youth who live a rich life may actually want to do some good for others. But instead, they're forced to follow their parents beliefs that being higher up is more important than the well-being of other people.
Makes me wish money never existed. That way, we'd all be equals in status

I legit cried for 5-10 mins (from the moment the magic happened till like 5 mins after the end of the episode) when this happened. Even during yours and PotterBrony's reaction I still get misty-eyed. Just realized that Fluttershy is flying and RD is grounded in that picture. This is THE BEST episode of the season for me (I don't count the gift of "Slice of Life") the redemption of DT already was going to give it a 9/10 but the CMC getting there cutie marks brought it up to 20/10 and I need to get a new scale before next week

I wonder if there is a reason that the crusaders had a big magical effect when getting their marks but every other time in the show someone got their marks it just appeared without notice.
You're right, Filthy Rich truly seems like a nice guy. He seems like a guy that knows where he comes from, literally---his grandfather Stinkin' Rich started the store that grew into Barnyard Bargains (probably the ponified version of Wal-Mart) and knew that the store wouldn't exist without Granny Smith (as a filly discovering Zap Apples and Zap Apple jam--and isn't over disciplining his daughter if needed. I have to wonder where the hell Spoiled Rich comes from though, other than that she is Diamond Tiara's mother and apparently Filthy's wife. And seems like Rich is the apparent surname for that family.

no one seems to realize that the cutiemarks are the symbol for the CMC itself, the same as the capes and poster in the beginning, with each one having the center image associated with with each of the individuals. Sweetie got a music note, Scoots got a lightning bolt, and AB got an apple.
