So why are you telling new hobbyists to do what is most expensive and difficult?

      Hello Father Fish!
I watched some of your videos because someone recommend them under one of my past videos… obviously, we have a very different approach and philosophy on the aquarium hobby, at least that is my impression. I personally think that equipment makes things easier for someone starting, because it gives more control. I had more success and fun with this hobby when I bought a better light and a CO2 system.
But as I said in the video, I don‘t want people to follow my advice just because I said it. Everyone has different goals. And if someone likes my tanks, and wants to do something similar, I obviously can’t tell them to go low tech. But again, I don’t think that one approach is better than the other, it always depends on the person. People who don’t want to do it the way I do it will realize that after a few videos and will probably find better advice on a channel like yours for example :)
Have you ever tried a „high tech“ setup yourself? Would be really interesting to hear how you ended up doing things the way you do them now! Thank you for commenting!

This video doesn't make sense. Going smaller doesn't help beginners at all. The water parameters are more difficult to maintain in a smaller tank than a medium to large tank. Also you advise people to do it their own way, yet your clikcbait title suggets people should change their mindset?

There are a lot of people today that can only afford a small setup and have great success doing so. Of course, a bigger tank gives you more stability technically, but I think this aspect gets exaggerated a lot today, considering what other aspect comes into play with a big tank, like costs and maintenance. Getting a big tank to have more chance of success but then saving on the equipment because I can’t afford what I need anymore doesn’t make sense to me. Also, it’s not clickbait, because all the three things I said are things that you should think about when starting the hobby. And I stated everything in this video as my opinion, and even told at the end that people should always do what they think is right, not just what I say.

    ADA equipment is silly expensive.
    Buy something else.

Would agree on some things like lights and filter, but the quality of ADA optiwhite tanks is unmatched, and since the tank is a long term purchase, it is a reasonable investment if that quality is worth it to you. In the end, it always depends on how much you are willing to spend and what your preferences are.
