Great video! ✌🏼
I just read ‘Shane’ for the first time in my life - thanks to your episode. What a great read.
Somewhere along the way I acquired Jack Schaefer’s copy of ‘Heart of the Earth’ by Schaefer’s former co-worker, Joseph Payne Brennan. Something I will treasure.
Cool, and thanks for checking in! I think Heart of the Earth is hard to come by so that is a real treasure!
I've got numerous editions of Shane....a classic book and I'm sure I re-read in on my Kindle. It's a really good book and I think it inspired me in several of my own western novels. Those written, as you know, under the name Jack Martin
@@GaryMartinDobbs I have at least one of those here!!
It amazes me that they would take such curse words from a classic when the radio blares into everyone's ear language we would never have dared spoken in front of our parents so long ago.
It is amazing!!
Just to clarify, "Abridgement" cuts out material, "Annotation" adds information, usually notes about the text. The way you said it it makes it unclear. No Hate, Not trolling you. Keep up the great work covering books a lot of other people don't!
Thank you for standing up for complete texts and always labeling "what the publishers did." Sometimes in the current, slimmed down publishing industry, the history fact checking is slim to nill, & THAT could be part of the problem too.
@waltera13 thank you for that clarification, and for your kind words.
Shane was SO good! I inhaled it in one day. (I also have the '66 Bantam paperback.)
Oh my, we don't want the public to get offended!
I'm a custodian in a public high school and I hear f- this and f-that all day long from both students and teachers.
Yep, I get that!
Here is a novel idea... Why don't they leave it alone and let us adults decide if we don't like it or not... If it's too fowl then don't read it. I'm all for protecting our kids from things but as an adult enough already.
I certainly agree!
Yes, MKV is the creator of " #JuneontheRange " .
I TOTALLY get not joining "read alongs" but MKV's handful for summer seems like you'll be touching on some of the elements anyway. If you do any SF in July or anything OTHER people think is trash in August, Why *NOT* drop a video tie in?
Be well.
MKV is awesome! I might do more "book tube" ties ins, but I basically do my own thing here.
