Shoshana Bean is a masterclass. She deserves way more recognition than she gets. Her performance of Make It Rain at the Ace Hotel is one of the best Live performances I've ever seen.
Don’t know if you knew this, but Shoshana was on Broadway. She played the wicked witch in the Broadway production of Wicked. She’s a stunning singer and performer!
wholly committed as she conveys the emotional arc of the song. first time seeing such an awesome actor-centric commentary on such a phenomenal performance. i agree shoshana's hands speak volumes in conveying portions of her inner monologue. such an expert use of gesture as well. a favorite moment of mine occurs around @9:50 where she seems to join two phrases in one breath. "the fire in her eyes ...... that's been gone, but it used to be mine," as she reaches out as if seeing and recognizing her past self. yowsah. such a powerful performance. thanks for bringing your informative commentary to it. also, purely geeking out here, shoshana is serving major, major barbra head movement/gestural divadom @10:04.

Mix these two majors arts with that kind of talent is very impressive and very very rare. Something more about her voice is her what I call dynamic range ( 6:24 to 6:27 on your video ) very rare. I only know one singer able to do that, it’s Rachelle Ferrell. It’s something very very hard to do. The way and rapidity she split between singing and talking is out of this world. Trust me it’s not so easy for her to do that. But she love do her thing so much that it become easy. I can resume with one sentence. Even if she sing the phone book you will applause.

Oscar, Oscar, Oscar ... maybe try to be a little less condescending to your viewers, and a little less superior in your analyzation of artists who are obviously incredibly talented, not only in vocals, but technique as well. It’s not necessary to continually critique every single thing that an artist does with their. vocals or body. A person would have to be a blind not to see and hear that she’s not putting every emotion and gesture into this song while just sitting on a stool, to convey the storytelling. Also your singing along doesn’t help our enjoyment of the performance either. Comes off as being a show-off. It’s obvious that you know a lot about vocal and stage techniques in regards to musical theater, and that is great to share a bit of it during the video, but not over and over again, because it really does detract from the overall performance, and makes you appear a bit full of yourself. Maybe just try and balance it out a little more. A bit of critiquing here and there and allowing some longer passages of the song to play without interruption. Just a friendly suggestion, and just my opinion. Cheers.
I couldn’t even make it through your video because you kept interrupting and talking and interrupting and talking and interrupting and talking and it destroyed any enjoyment of the performance. Suggestion: edit in some thoughts as supertitles in post- production or watch it all through and then go back and re-run it and do some critiques/observations. I like your knowledge and personality, but not your reaction style, so can’t subscribe today. Will check back later to see if you improve your format so your audience can enjoy the performance that they may have never seen before, plus learn something... not just listen to you showing off your knowledge or experience. I think it will help increase your subscribers. Good luck with your channel and with your career. ☮️
